Yes! I get it… That’s why I’m just sitting here with a puzzled look. I try to finalize WED mid-day, then torture myself WED evening into THUR morning. It normally takes alcohol not to tinker, but then I end up with some random hedge lineup that beats the lineup that I took all week to construct. Ha-ha…

I say determine what you want….then make a plan to go and get it.

I want a gpp, so I developed what I thought was a sound plan in max entering. Then a curveball tossed me a max entry of 20 LU’s not 50. I made some guidelines for max entry, Hedging definitely falls outside those. At 50 LU’s you might call me a liar but 20 is just not enough. A great LU with variations is the way to attack it. You can lose 3 out of 4 weeks but the cash of week 4 should / could make up for it. LOL its when the drought goes on longer that you start rethinking.
Play the long game not the short term. IMHO

he’s been killing it in Euro right? i doubt his confidence is low.

nope I dont think so, been getting killed. At least he was suppose to be a killer in the arabian desert. He was poor. I had him, I wasnt happy. If the stats say he’s doing OK, Then what do I know. He didnt do as well as expected for me.

OK a second last year in November in Hong Kong
40th in Abu dahbi – which sticks out in my mind
then a well placed 6th in Dubai with a good field.
maybe I am wrong.. he shit the bed where he should have been top dog and played well vs top competition. You are correct I am not.

Thanks, man. This all makes sense, but I’m generally a single lineup guy. If I were multi-entering, I’d definitely rock a core as opposed to hedging. Usually my “hedges” aren’t absolute hedges; maybe guys I liked, but they didn’t quite make the cut for my main team for some reason or another. Last week I was afraid I didn’t have Rickie so he made my hedge lineup. I believe this lineup had 2 MCs and still almost beat my sorry-ass 6/6. Dern you, ZJ! Dern you, JT! Dern you, Berger! Ha-ha… My dudes having bad weekends is killing me :/

I understand that it is possible to be in a pro am not as a pro. they have qualifiers. for this reason they should keep them. I dont like that the rich or popular get into this based solely on those attributes. It doesnt appear to me after several pro-ams that the TV picks up alot of the amateurs, Maybe a total of 5 min of coverage. The euro had much more coverage on their armatures.

To clarify, I am talking about the rich/popular. I don’t know what is worse, pgatour showing tiger woods on the practice green for 50% of the time or showing bill murray telling jokes to the spectators for 50% of the time.

What was wrong with JT last week? He scored over 100 points even with his meltdown.

so what your saying is your plan is to pick 1 LU and change it, then change it again, and if not drunk do it some more. This is the key for what you want out of golf DFS? What do you want from Golf DFS?

EDIT: not trying to be a prick, I have seen you play great LU’s. I think you play well, Tinkering can be a part of someones process, It is a check in my process. If its what you believe in thats great.

I am 100% going to have some D.A. Points if he’s paired with Bill Murray

Your referenced a melt-down? Enough said… Ha-ha. I thought he was poised to win until giving it all back :/

I just expected more from my highest priced dude.

I’m cheap, man. I like to play one lineup… If I have a beer and listen to the PGA DFS show WED night, I don’t want it to influence my original lineup. Why are we being so critical?

What do I want form Golf DFS? Entertainment and added enjoyment when watching the golf? Sorry I’m not a PRO nor aspire to be one. Is this forum for professionals only? I just don’t get where your’e going with your comment, but I may be reading it incorrectly or out of context?

The whole point is trying not to tinker is hard. I try to make my own decisions and not let people sway me.

EDIT: I just feel better about one lineup I believe in as opposed to multi-entering, but I also mainly do single-entry. I do throw the lineup in the $4 and $3 multi-entry contests, but still hate playing the pros with multiple bullets in each contests. It’s akin to taking a knife to a gun fight :)

  • nicholasmarsh

Anyway… My original question was a) wind players or b) attempt to hide from the wind at Spy Glass on Saturday? I also hate worrying about the weather so there’s that angle as well…

The real difficulty for me is overcoming the would have should have with players. Tinkering seems to cause a lot of hindsight regret because there are a lot more players in my mind than if I didn’t tinker.

Exactly… Construct a lineup and deal with the fact that you may have had a guy originally that did well and wasn’t on your final team. I’ve come to terms with the shoulda, coulda, woulda. There should be a reason for every choice whether it be price, skill, form or weather related. As long as I can justify why I played Player A as opposed to Played B, I’m OK with it. You have to be… I’d be broke otherwise :)

Do the trees at spyglass really even stop the wind that much? Probably some type of tree that just lets wind whip through it

  • GaryScott59

Feedback on Streelman? I made 10 LU and he was in 6, so tossed two he was in. He is a magnet for some reason. Help?

I don’t know, man. I just read it on here earlier…

  • dangasin

this is the main tree I think:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cupressus_macrocarpa

Looks like farmers use them as a wind break in Australia, so it probably reduce the wind enough

Good event history, decent form and 28th in SG-APP through 32 rounds in 2018 without a MC. Sounds like a cut-maker with decent upside to me? His BoB% is bad (174th) and still need to determine his putting skills on POA.

Why do people say pricing sucks this week on DK? Sucks for players, cause less people to join tournaments, etc?

So you mean it really limits the total number of players that will actually be picked for teams?

I have never had much luck when picking who is a good wind player. Picking people playing at Spyglass doesn’t take any attempt at deciphering who is a good wind player. You just find the guys playing Spyglass on the windy day.

In reference to the do the trees block the wind that much, I believe last year was super windy and Spyglass which is historically the hardest course played right in line or easier than the other more exposed courses. So I think it does make a difference. Referring to my earlier post, if you read the article by Josh Culp on Rotoworld he breaks down the weathers impact on this tourney with quotes from two players last year thinking they lucked out playing Spyglass on the windiest day.

PGA should get rid of pro am’s

This will never happen as this is were the pga gets the majority of there money to donate to local charities. I did see were the pga has changed the format in select tournaments which are played on Wednesday. I think in nine tournaments this year the pro will only have to play nine holes and the amateur will get to play with different pros as they are still playing 18 holes. It was tested last year at St Jude and the response by all parties was welcomed.

I’ve made it clear that I play low-stakes and prefer single-entry, but that is my take. Think what it would be like if everyone were priced evenly. I doubt there would be much variance in terms of lineup construction except for the contrarian few. With that said; it’s pretty apparent that there are no “free-squares” in DFG so fading the mispriced guys is a solid strategy. It has also been said what the common lineup construction will more-than-likely be… DJ + + RCB + DeCHAMBEAU
