Not even “might” but it is “good lord absolutely”.

Even if a player has buttloads (math term) of holes under the belt and you have those stats, categorizing them out to that level makes for ridiculously small sample sizes. Even if you bucket them out to like ranges (100-110yds vs 101yd or something), still too small. Plus it is amplified by one player has sample size X and another one has sample size Y.

Massive variance in small samples, and that is in a sport that is already massive variance on top of massive variance.

(this is called out in the papers on it, but not so much in the people who use it after the fact)

I agree with what dangasin is saying and it’s why I truly believe stats are “noise” and should be weighed no more than course history or current form….what he is saying is true as no two shots in a round are the same which is why golf is a great game and why we see so much variance.

Running the numbers, I am going to focus on players who strike the ball. Going back the past few years, the guys who totally miss the ball – from what I am seeing – appear to score lower on Draft Kings.

Interestingly this metric holds across all stroke types – off the tee, fairway, rough, and putting – I think it may be the single most important stat, aside from which player is having sex with Wayne Gretzky’s daughter.

I am also finding that underrated stat of “putt striking”, where the players putt the ball instead of, say, sandtraps or greens, is a key stat

I normally like Scott Vincent, but this week I feel like he’s a salary trap. I thought about rostering him and instead put in lots of Andrew Dodt.

In other words, enjoy your winnings, he will almost certainly win now

The EURO Happy Meal is only $1 and needs people to fill it. I know you want to pay $10,300 for Jazz Janewattananond

    Anymore WD’s today guys?

  • mr_papageorgio

So a short course with a premium on guys who are good with irons and maybe a bit of a US Open setup? Sounds like a Stricker week to me! Anyone else like him?

Final thoughts on Euro before lock.

I like Justin Harding as a pivot off Scrivener
Super cheap dart to throw – Jack Wilson ($6,300) – Form is awful but course history is great for the price.

  • Jamcclea

Someone take my last H2H in the league. Give me your money.

I think OTT has slightly less variance than the others, since it takes place in a controlled environment with flat surface and they place the ball. A lot more fault on the player for errant shots. And even with that pristine setup, still a ton of variance from wind gusts, bad fairway bounces, mashed potatoes, etc.

Planning to use some old man Ernie Els this week. Recent form on the Euro tour has been pretty solid.

I’m with you on that. Going to throw in some old man Davis Love as well.

I had Scrivener and then just recently I pivoted all my shares to Ryan Fox, that was the choice I made instead.

Also if anyone is playing EURO, Peter Fowler is a great punt play, look at his profile pic, how can he not win

Tossed a buck into the Euro Happy Meal – it’s a nice mix of Coley picks and guys whose names I liked. Since the HM is the only contest I’m in for this, I fully expect it to be far & away the best golf lineup I have ever done.
