LOL, I dont follow a guy like Pat Mayo, and here is one of the downside to not following. He gives great updates as to who is in and who is out. A lot of outs this week according to the forum. Anyone got a handy list already made?

Follow Rob Bolton for players going in and out of the tournaments. That’s who Mayo uses

Given everybody is exactly the same skill level, what order would you want to play the courses, what tee times are ideal, and would you always put the tree lined course on Saturday?

    Spyglass, Pebble, Monterrey.

That being said, apparently in every other odd year, the winner has played Monterrey>Pebble>Spyglass in that order.

I’m just not sure if weather was a factor those years.

BIF, what are your thoughts on Ghim, McDowell, Harkins, Laird? Price non-important

I mentioned Ghim earlier as one of my punt/low price guys so I like him. Great course fit for shorter hitting McDowell as small bumpy greens help even the field for guys who putt poorly normally.

I’m usually a Laird fan but prefer more desert style courses or ones where bogies are tougher to make – not a fan this week of Laird. Not sure on Harkins as I’ve never really figured him out, I was a little late to the party on him last year and only caught a couple good finishes and I’m not sure he has recaptured that form yet. I won’t have any Harkins but I don’t think it is a terrible punt as he did ok here last year.

Perez chances ? Would like to see a better start to season, like the guy, but golf right now is iffy. Looks like 2016 all over again

Harkins won at Mont. a few years back, some smaller tour… This is home for him, greens, etc.

I will say as usual that for pro-ams I try to stick to golfers who have had success at the event previously. It must be radically different dealing with slow amateurs and all the associated BS, and one would think that some guys will just mentally check out. I should probably make a list of people who have done well at pro-ams altogether but way too lazy for that.

I set out to make a Day/DJ lineup, but came down to the last two spots of either DJ + 7100 or Spieth + Casey. After some thought I am a bit more comfortable with the latter two. Spieth is going to find his game at some point and why not here.

Saw this on Twitter – small sample over last 2 years but still something to ponder, especially when I’m seriously considering Matt Every as a flyer punt. 🙄

Anyone have thoughts on Sungjae Im playing his fifth week in a row? I tend to stay off guys playing that much, but he is young.

the kid is definitely a great player already…serious skill… i defintiely have some concern about a guy who has made 4 cuts in a row and been in top 10 contention for 3 of them…

you have to figure his price/ownership are closer to the top than the bottom of their range and if fatigue sets in he’lll be a great guy to have dodged…

this is my first year (and his?) playing this course though so i have no idea how his game suits this place

hey guys. I’m an Casual Cash NBA player, but got an email like Wednesday night i was eligible for a free PGA tournament. Im a golf fan, but had never done dfs. I did some minor research, and decided I just wanted to go with safe guys who I liked. Figuring if I get 6 guys to make the cut, 2 of em should be in contention. I faded Phil based on hunch. Went with Fowler/kuchar/kisner/horschel/bradley/glover. 5/6 made the cut and I placed 42nd out of 280. I would have barely cashed in the big GPP, but still cashed. I am positive that If i did proper research, I prob would have not cashed and had 2 guys make the cut. Anyways, I enjoyed it and plan on doing more PGA in the future. I fully expect to not crack 300 this week, but whatever

over researching will no doubt lead you to the same chalky build as the masses… try to learn the players and the courses but try to avoid the guys who are chalky without great reason… and sometimes even try avoid the guys who are chalky with great reason

I am actually half expecting all of these posts to get deleted since they refer to a free non RG podcast which directly completes with the premium products they offer.

i like listening to the pat mayo golf podcast but i dont think it offers nearly as much strategy as the RG golf offerings…. its more of a “lets talk about the upcoming tournament” but then they just name guys they like with no real rhyme or reason behind it IMO… i think the RG golf information is far superior for research…

the only thing i hate about the RG golf stuff…. or anyone’s golf stuff…. every week they say they are concentrating on “ball striking”… that seems a little lazy to me… if you listen closer they’ll talk about long irons or 125-150 etc but i think “ball striking” is a very overused term by all golf touts… at this point it’s like yeah we want a guy who hits the ball close to the hole…. every week lol…

Can’t believe I’m agreeing with you on something Golf related but it’s true it is an overused term and 98% of the golf touts wouldn’t know a good ball striker from a lesser one if they were on the range of a tour event watching the guys. You don’t make it to the tour and not be a great ball striker – sure some are better than others on average but every player out there can hit it pure and hit it close to the hole. Just because a guy ranks 100th in ball striking doesn’t mean he is a hacker nor any worse of a player than a guy who is 20th – the sample size is still small and we really haven’t played many diff types of courses yet this season – once we get through the Florida swing, then maybe the data starts to be statistically relevant but until then it’s just noise. All these guys are good.

However this week, many of the stats that are ball-striking related are important as you have a couple courses (including host Pebble) who have some of the smaller greens we’ll see all year so many small misses on approaches this week will end up in bunkers or in greenside rough where last week they would have been on the green 40-60 ft away.
