Saw this on Twitter – small sample over last 2 years but still something to ponder, especially when I’m seriously considering Matt Every as a flyer punt. 🙄

Nice stats for Reed in this list. Especially considering he will probably go overlooked this week.

I like that he is paired with Phil, they could feed off each other and really get going.

Don’t see Roth’s weather update.. Am I missing something?

Surprised it looks so bad for next 10 days. I did not know it was so cold in that area. Have a feeling this one is going to be cut short and finish on Monday. Maybe the final day, the 2nd PB is not played ? Is this possible ?

Running the numbers, I am going to focus on players who strike the ball. Going back the past few years, the guys who totally miss the ball – from what I am seeing – appear to score lower on Draft Kings.

Interestingly this metric holds across all stroke types – off the tee, fairway, rough, and putting – I think it may be the single most important stat, aside from which player is having sex with Wayne Gretzky’s daughter.

The secret of the Happy Meal and the PIG:
    1) build the best lineup for the Happy Meal – “Lineup_HM”
    2) build the best lineup for the PIG – “Lineup_PIG”
    3) put Lineup_PIG in the Happy Meal (and some GPP)
    4) put Lineup_HM in PIG (and nothing else)
    5) …
    6) Profit!

Anything else only leads to tears.

Talk about a golfer who very rarely misses the ball, he’s way up there.

Absolutely in this spot. If the weather were great, I mean as in little wind and the Brilliant RF guys could tee it up, take aim and let er rip, I would have him 20th – 30th. Going to be weather delays, etc. Seems like a good spot for those that have been playing a long time. I am going to completely FADE the Im’s, mostly fade the newcomers, and give them a chance to learn.
I like the brits too as they see lots of rainy days. All common knowledge I would hope

  • dangasin

A problem with the ball striking stats is terrain, wind, weather, etc are not taken into account. Say a player 1 ball is on a tough slope, and manages to get the ball to the green 30’ from the hole. Player 2 gets it within 10’ from a more inviting lie. Proximity from the hole will say Player 1 is a schmuck.

strokes gained approach tries to deal with this by averaging performance from exact locations, but the sample size of that specific area of the course might be too small.

  • smallANDflaccid

Not even “might” but it is “good lord absolutely”.

Even if a player has buttloads (math term) of holes under the belt and you have those stats, categorizing them out to that level makes for ridiculously small sample sizes. Even if you bucket them out to like ranges (100-110yds vs 101yd or something), still too small. Plus it is amplified by one player has sample size X and another one has sample size Y.

Massive variance in small samples, and that is in a sport that is already massive variance on top of massive variance.

(this is called out in the papers on it, but not so much in the people who use it after the fact)

Phil the #1 trending player on Fanshare right now. I think he will be relatively popular.

For those that don’t look at it today it’s: Phil, Spieth, Day, Conners, Chez

Hadn’t looked at the Happy Meal Cup standings in a while. Thought I was near the bottom but it’s amazing what 1 win can do for you! Gotta keep grinding it out until my next one if there even is.

I want to trust Walker and kind of am so far as he’s in 2/4 so far but his form is awful. Any thoughts on him?

  • milanman21

I see Nate Lashley has averaged 95 DK points this season. I get this is a tougher field than what he’s played, tougher course probably as well. Am I wrong to YOLO him in one of my lineups at 7000 since he’s guaranteed three rounds anyway?

From what I am reading, getting guys who are starting at Monterrey and Pebble on Thursday might be the best way to attack based on weather. Though I still think it’s a crapshoot.

    they score lower on DK??

I cant see a Gretzky WD, so I assume he and DJ will make their tee time together. I guess everything is hunky-dory in over privileged daughter/wife world. So my DJ fade needs to be reevaluated. DJ has got to carry DAD to the final round.
