      RG Tiered Ranking

Used to frequent RG daily. Now that everything has been put behind the paywall and the rake is near 20% I haven’t been here in a while and have eliminated NBA and drastically reduced my MLB to a daily dollar. Maybe that’s for the better. I can’t imagine I’m not the only one that has followed this path. Will there be any user usability for non premium members to the NFL Lineup Builder this season or will the whole thing be gutted? I had to create my own NFL projection system last year and hand enter my lineups which seemed to work out well despite the hassle. Kinda crazy that now that I’m rarely here I’m ranked #23 Flyweight (Thanks Gronk). Hoping for some tool availability this NFL season. I understand the need to make money but I’d dare to guess DK/FD made quite a good amount off all the users like me that were spurred on to throw a bigger chunk into the game having the ability to create a 20 – 150 lineups.

You have to spend money to make money. There is a lineup builder site that is a little cheaper I believe if you just want a lineup builder but between GridironIQ, WR/CB matchup chart, LineupHQ, the Usage app, pOWN, and any other tools I’m forgetting i think you just pay for a month and try to win enough money to pay for the next 3 months.

      RG Tiered Ranking

Understood but some limited functionality would keep my interest and in turn get me to spend money from time to time. I’m not playing $2000+ a month to where that 10% edge comes into play. The initial method of allowing limited functionality kept myself in the game enough to where I would buy premium or a sport package from time to time. This was the primary reason I never tried any of the dozen other sites. There’s still plenty of carrots to dangle including some of the tools you mentioned to ramp users up to that next level. I used to use the Plate IQ and thought it was phenomenal when it was available. By all means I think RG is awesome, but the paywall divide is getting so high in conjunction with high rake from Draftkings and Fanduel, and then pumping sharks full of bankroll as what happened with StakeKings really is killing off the casual base. I won 8k for finishing third (25k to first) on a random middle of the regular season night on Fanduel 5 years ago with a $2 entry. Nowadays you’d be lucky to see a $3 tournament entry fetch 2k even with their 25% to first tournaments. I have friends who’ve faded away due to these same circumstances. A few hundred to a thousand a month isn’t much until you loses thousands of those users. To be clear RG has nothing to do with rake but I felt maybe there was even some partnering relationship in the past that may have kept some of those entry level tools alive. Just my personal opinion and I’m thankful for the few good years of grinding on RG. Listening to the Morning Grind daily, the lead up shows, and the various different NFL shows prepping for the weekend.

With the NFL season just under two months away, what type of research are people doing to get ready for the new season? I dabbled in NFL last year, but want to try and take it more seriously this year. Is there anything I can be doing between now and Week 1 to get myself ready for the upcoming season?

5 most important things that winners in the Milly Maker did last year. This is the top 100 entries for each week of the regular season. So the sample size is 1600 not 16.

    1) Pay up for QB.
Over 90% of the successful entries used a QB who was in the top 10 of salary for that week. The average QB salary ranked between 3 and 4 of all options.
    2) Stack that QB with 2 partners.
One being a WR (obviously) but the other didn’t seem to matter. Another WR, a RB, or even a TE seemed to have similar outcomes. Less than 3% of the entries used a “naked” QB. Using 1 teammate or more than 2 stacking options from the same team reduced the success rate of just using 2.
    3) Run it Back. This popular theory of playing someone against your stacked team had legs last year. The interesting part is that the most successful playback position was not RB, but WR specifically a #2 or #3 option from the other side.
    4) Play WR at flex. A RB fits better for cash games, but you need the higher ceiling of a WR to take down a large field tournament.
    5) Use your salary cap. More than 50% of the top entries left less than $300 on the table. Don’t get too cute and don’t worry about ownership except in the cheap category (the supposed free square which seems to always fail).

Awesome takes, Getty. Found that WR in the Flex was a little bit of a “cheat code” in cash in the sense that it was so common to see a third RB in opposing lineups that it felt like being early to a newer paradigm. Sadly the cat’s out of the bag haha

I just wish that RG had an option to pay for LineupHQ only. I have no desire to read any of the articles or other premium content, but HQ comes in handy when I want to MME.

I’m not sure about you but there is a faction that once played a lot and no longer do for a range of reasons.

We know the advantage of having a surplus of content but we no longer have the time to consume it or play the amount of money to recover the costs.

HQ every year gets more things stripped from it. There were a couple things from last year that were removed. It’s barely worth showing at this point.
