    Hey guys,

Im relatively new, and i do a bit of research before making lineups for draftkings, and such, but i had a question.

On reddit, i saw some one posted that the people who wins thousands of dollars each week off draftkings have thousands of lineups and make scripts with algorithms and all that shazam. Unfortunately, I only play draftkings for fun, and dont really spend hours on end researching and looking up players, just probably a couple hours a week.

That being said, is it impossible for me to win big money on these 1.5M contests? With all these pros making tons of lineups and cashing in every week, it seems highly unlikely that i could.

So is my best option to profit off draftkings to play a bunch of head to heads? And if so, do i just do a bunch of like 10$ ones?

I only have about 100$ in my draftkings account and want to know the best course of action, trying to make money.

    Thanks a lot

Play head to heads, 50/50’s. Maybe play a $5 GPP at most. If your bankroll is $100, for 1 week of football play 10 $1 H2H, 3 Triple up/5050s and then a 2-3 dollar GPP. Trust me this will end up much better than blowing it on big money tourneys

Many pros lose a lot of money. People assume that they show a profit but they are fighting the rake. Even if you entered in 500 entries and won 200 of them you wouldn’t show a great profit unless one was a top 100 finish. They are doing variance and covering all angles which also means a lot of losing lineups.

Can you show a profit, yes. Odds are most of them go through tough spells where they are underwater until they hit a top 5 finish.

  • Brian_msbc

Just my opinion… Just for fun is the opposite of “I want to make a profit”. I think it’s impossible to compete with a computer. You can’t even do hours of research to compete with a computer because lineups sometimes come out less than an hour before the game starts. Their programs do about 10 hours of research in 5 seconds to build an optimal lineup. They aren’t just in tourneys either, they are in H2H and 50/50’s as well.

  • ElTrollio

It’s not impossible. I tied for first on the Sunday night special GPP on DK in my second week playing DFS and only had a single 3$ entry. Now, I realize that situation is highly unlikely, but anything is possible.

Basically I’m a perfect candidate for one of their stupid commercials lol.

leaderboards are full of single bullets and very inexperienced players. its absolutely possible that you may make some money while having fun but not necessarily something you should expect. just be sure to continue to have fun and you’ll find your sweet spot, its different for everyone.

    Be a tout

Dont play at all is your best +EV… After that just play lightly and enjoy, try to minimize your losses

  • mellofellowsu

Don’t think of this as a way to make money. DFS is an entertainment expense that might pay off once in a while. Look at it with that lens and you’ll have fun, especially when you do win.

I’m willing to bet a lot of the pros don’t have very much fun with DFS anymore. When wins come it’s probably more a relief for them than anything else. You don’t want to play it like that.

  • tonytone1908

Best bet is to probably play the smaller and/or single entry GPP’s. Smaller jackpots but much better chance at taking a top prize. H2H’s you’ll just get scooped by the sharks. Also you have to be very contrarian. I have a hard time doing that myself but when I do I have my best nights. The pros win because they hit on guys nobody else was on. If you can figure out who those guys are you’ll do fine.

Bottom line, don’t expect to get rich. Play for fun and enjoy a good sweat here and there and hopefully get lucky one night. You could buy a lottery ticket at the gas station or throw $2 or $5 on a LU and have it last the whole night. I look at it this way, what I lose at a casino in an hour would last me a month of fun on Fanduel so I decide to skip the casino and let my entertainment money last me a little bit longer.

Shite, I’ve lost $4k in a single day at a casino. That can last an entire year with DFS.

two sides of dfs the gambling part and investing part . gambling part is going after big money in the milli maker and other big tournaments . the investing part is cash games h2h, 50/50s , double ups and 3 man leagues. id stick to the cash games

Want to increase your odds of winning? Forego NFL, and play CFB.

  • MastodonsOfStrength

In order to really enjoy DFS, and be good…I think you have to take a liking to reading about sports, crunching numbers, and sweating over games.

Another overlooked trait that you need is the ability to get over losing.
Even losing $10 hurts…but if you cant take a loss…this probably isnt for you.

From what ive noticed…gamblers (is that a bad word on here?) enjoy the highs and lows.
    Im one of them.

manage your bankroll, put the majority that you have in play on a single week into double ups, and play a small percentage in gpps. Always make sure to play your cash game lineup in one gpp just in case it blows up.

  • tarheel66

Best bet is always single entry gpps, not the multi entry ones

  • FantasyDraft_Rep

Give us a try we limit the max entry in any contest at 20. Flatter payouts (25%) are also advantageous.

Apparently the best way to make money on draftkings is to work for Fanduel. At least that’s what the news has been telling me.

  • setcamper

I’m totally lost on how to approach double ups. Besides “lineups with high floor”, “play safe and avoid stacking”, and “bigger the field the better.”

How many lineups are you using in cash games? A handful with little overlap, a handful where you swap out only a couple of key players, or a ton of different lineups assuming at the end of the day more than half you lineups are going to place?”

Are you entering all your lineups in one big double up pool or diversifying your entries across as many contests as your bankroll with sustain?

  • ComicFx

On Draftkings I like to get into Thur-Mon Double ups, the more contestants the better and I usually fade the Thur players, just roll out my MAIN SLATE Sun-Mon Cash lineup into that Thur-Mon late swap.

I also play the majority of my GPPs and qualifiers Thur – Mon slate on DK and I ALWAYS without exception fade anyone in Thursdays games for GPP, Yes EVEN D Hopkins if V Davis sits. Fade it all in GPP.

This week for my Thur-Mon DK double up contests I am running 2 lineups. Half will have Hopkins if Davis is out and not shadowing him. The other will be my Sun main cash line up which won’t be final until Sun morning.

That’s how I’ve been doing it this year. Good results. I refuse to play the Bankroll Drainer Milly Maker, its a sinking ship to all but the winner.

Uh………there are twitter posts showing Fan Duel Single entry contests that have multiple entries by the same persons. More glitchiness or suspicious stuff to ponder.

I understand mistakes happen, but this is just sloppy. Stuff like this just adds to the fire. The big name sites need to be better than this.
