I am new to daily fantasy sports, although I have been in leagues my entire life. I was wondering which site is the best one to play on for a beginner. I have looked around a bit and the main two are Fanduel and Draft Kings, but I feel like they have been around a while and I don’t want to get swallowed up before I can even start. My main concerns are low number of professionals, user interface, and rake. I’m looking to make a little extra money on the side throughout my college life. If you have any suggestions I would really appreciate it!

maybe you could/should sign up for a few, play the free games to see which site(s) you are more comfortable with (scoring, etc.) and go from there. experiment a bit first

The “pros” pretty much play on all sites.

I started on FD and messed around with dk’s. I personally like FD as I feel it suits my preference better.
If you’re gonna play h2h I suggest you find the competition rather than letting them find you that way you don’t get swallowed up and lose interest in dfs.

    RG Mod

This is why DK has beginner games man! Check them out and play some low stakes beginner games to get your feet wet.

I’d recommend victiv. small, new site. pretty much no sharks there and you won’t find a site with lower rake.

  • Myprimetime

Agreed with Victiv. Great userface and best sweat experience of all sites, including the bigs.

  • pootnami

Have to say victiv as well.

  • Domigator

I agree with Victiv. I also really like Draftster.

FantasyAces would be a good place to “cut your teeth”. Nice variety of buy-in levels and game types, and just enough action to keep things interesting. I’d recommend checking out FantasyFeud as well.

OP – If you’re worried about rake and want beginner games, play where there is no rake and there are beginner games. Check out FantasyUp. 0% rake!

0%? OMG!!! Sounds to good to be true but ill at least check it out.

edit: OK, I checked it out. It looks pretty sweet but there is a slight delay when you scroll the lobby or click “nfl”, “nba” etc. The lag would be enough to make me feel like its not reputable. Its looks great but its clunky is what I mean. And when I clicked a link about 0% rake it showed a spinning wheel and took 5 seconds just to show me a simple info page. Get a better web developer. Just my 2 cents.

Hmmm… I’ve been playing there few a couple of months and have no idea what you’re talking about. Game lobby is instant for me and much quicker than other sites.

Click the link the says “%0 rake we promise”. Why is it showing a spinning wheel thats looks like adobe flash and taking 5 seconds to show a paragraph of text? It may not be adobe flash, but Im not using any site that even smells like adobe. Sorry, thats just me.

  • JBigg23

I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’ve stayed there because it is the best experience I’ve had to date. If it wasn’t better than others, I wouldn’t stay. BTW – a quick element inspect shows 0% Adobe.

  • Myprimetime

I’m not logged in but went to ‘Play Now’. Took about 6 seconds for lobby to load. Now I can’t click on anything except the Like Us on Facebook banner….

I made an account on Fanduel and DrafKings, and just checked out FantasyUp. Although I do like the 0% rake, I’m not comfortable with the double QB’s. I put in a lineup for NBA on Fanduel, and I found the layout a little awkward. Fanduel right now is more what I am leaning towards, but I still want to check out some of these smaller sites before I make my decision.

Has anyone heard or tried out Fanday?
