Im bored. So, lets debate what is truly the best fast food destination. A strong case can be made for many restaurants depending on how loosely we define fast, but for me it is neck and neck between ChickFilA and Five Guys.

    ChickFila:
    — Simple Menu
    — Food is tasty and its chicken – so not completely awful
    — Waffle Fries
    — Milkshakes are tasty
    — Milf crowd
    — Closed Sundays

    FiveGuys
    — Simple Meu
    — Burgers and Dogs
    — Bag o Fries
    — Choose your condiments
    — Plus Quantity

Im gonna say FiveGuys siince Im fat and value quantity

    Zaxby’s… book it

Popeyes – my favorite: fried chicken gizzards (may not be available everywhere but are here in NE). They are perfection but not particularly good for your arteries. Their biscuits are also great, far superior to KFC, and they have the best possible side item IMO – red beans and rice.

Runner-up – Freddy’s – those skinny salty crunchy fries are awesome.

I know this probably isn’t fast food, but Jersey Mike’s is my favorite. The prices are pretty high but the quality of the food is pretty awesome where I live.

I’ve been let down both times I’ve been in a Jersey Mike’s. It’s $8.15 for a regular 7inch sandwich which is too small to fill me up but the Giant is way too big. I’d get the giant and save some of it for later but when you get it Mike’s Way it’s a soggy mess 20 minutes after you order it.

Lack of bread choices, and insane prices makes Mike’s an easy pass for me.

Retro: My first job was at Hardee’s way back in the days when they served the ‘Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger’ – good lord that thing had probably the equivalent of a stick of butter coating the toasted bun, 4 slices of cheese, 4 strips of bacon, and 1/3 pound of grease/hamburger. Topped off with onion mayo. So good.

In those days I could put away many thousands of calories every day and not gain an ounce – the joys of youthful high metabolism. For those of you still young and skinny – enjoy it while it lasts :)

I eat Wendy’s by far the most. Love me some Spicy Chicken Sandwiches. IMO Wendy’s Chicken Sandwich > Chik Fil A and it’s not even close.

I’ll throw out a sleeper (would definitely be min-priced on FD) of Bojangles. They don’t have them here in Central Florida, but every time I ride up through Georgia I’m sure to stop at them. Their spicy chicken biscuits (available all day) and seasoned fries are awesome.

Bojangles Absolutely! Hit it up every weekend with the family. Cajun Filet biscuit and seasoned fries. Kids love the Sweet Potato pie. Pretty solid.

Ah man Jersey Mike’s is awesome, but they closed the 2 locations in Knoxville. Haven’t had it in about 3 years :(

Chik-fil-A is really good, but it lost some of its luster when it became more readily available. I used to only get it when I travelled, but now that they’ve opened stores in MN, it’s no longer a giant treat. Still good though. Restaurants are always clean too.

  • kdriskell311

By the way, this thread makes me want to have a dinner buffet ala Talladega Nights.

I second Whataburger and Zaxbys. Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits for the win. These two used to be staples when I was at Florida State. Now neither of them are within a 200 mile radius of me. So disappointing.

I was a fan of 5 guys until the last time my wife and I went – couple burgers, large fries, drinks…it was nearly $30. At that price we could have went to a decent restaurant and at least in my opinion, they are pricing them self out of the market they inhabit.

It’s a place I just started going to a few years ago, but I’ve become a fan of Arby’s.
It’s one of the only fast food places I can go and don;t feel sick to my stomach a few hours later.
I’m a fan of the smokehouse brisket…and can’t pass up the creamsicle shake if they’re offering it.

Sucker for Taco Bell. No idea why, just always have been

Some of my worst diarrhea has come the day after eating Taco Bell. But that could also be because I was hung over, so not sure what it is that is making me sick.

How has nobody mentioned KFC? Hands down, unquestionably the best.

And that Nashville Hot Chicken is damn good too!

Have you seen the chickens “they” were raising 2-3 years ago for slaughter? Those things were roided up, 6 foot tall and had 4 eyes.

Zaxby’s is great, but is too expensive for what it is. I haven’t been since I got into an argument with the cashier there. Ordered a “Zalad” with ranch dressing. No dressing with it. Asked for a ranch and the girl tried to charge me. Politely explained that I didn’t receive the one that was supposed to come with it and she proceeded to tell me that she had plated my order and definitely put a ranch on there. Only time I’ve ever talked to a manager at a fast/casual restaurant.

  • lionssuck

Nothing better then an afternoon Cubs game, night time pub crawl & hitting up White Castle for some sliders at 2:00 AM on the way home.

& Checkers would have to be the one place I would pull over if I happened to pass one & order a dozen burgers even if I wasn’t hungry, just to have them in the fridge for the next 2 days.

Also, if you consider Culver’s fast food, they’re pretty underrated IMO.

  • Aalbanese102089

I agree with whoever said earlier, if it doesn’t have a drive-thru, it isn’t fast food. Anyone from Illinois(Chicagoland area)/Arizona may know what Portillos is. That takes the cake for me.

Aside from that, Popeyes is good and Culvers is good too. Been living in Texas about 7 months, Whataburger is alright but I wouldn’t say it’s anything special, but thats just me.

Philly bias and yes they DESTROY Jersey Mikes.. Primos Hoagies. Only a semi-national/regional chain at this point mostly PA, NJ, DE, MD, FL with one location in Myrtle Beach. I’m finicky on lunch meat.
