Fed Ex Cup Playoffs – stop #3 on the road to the Fed Ex Cup for the remaining 70 players is the BMW Championship played this year at Crooked Stick GC near Indianapolis (the BMW was last played here in 2012).

Very quick turnaround for the successful qualifiers as we go back to the normal Thursday-Sunday tournament and there is NO CUT this week as it is only 70 players (likely only 69 as Stenson has said he won’t play to rest for the Tour Championship which he is not a lock yet to qualify for and also rest for the Ryder Cup).

What’s Rory’s ownership going to be in the big GPP’s? 30-35%?

Love when they are at courses I have played. Been a few years but lived just outside Carmel, IN for a few years. Was lucky enough to play this course 3 times. Very nice track without stating the obvious.

I feel recent history is the dominant stat with the field being; for the most part, identical to… um, yesterday.

  • JimKronlund

This is where I wished I played Golf at some sort of high level and experienced the short turn around against the same field, and how it effected me and others at that level of play. I would think Bif and others who have had some exposure to this scenario would have better insight in playing the same field back to back in such a short time frame.
If it was other mainstream sports I would weight this to a lesser degree, but with Golf I am guessing it would be more meaningful? Even though its a different track?

    HENRICK STENSON WD
“Henrik Stenson (resting a sore right knee) has elected not to compete.”
    From PGA Tour
    WoW did not expect this.

EDIT: I heard he announced this last week so maybe you all already know this.
It would be terrible for people like smallandflaccid, pumpkincheeks to do a ton of algo work with him in it.

I thought it was commonly known that Henrik wasn’t playing this week?

He said he was going to skip BMW – so not surprised when I heard him say that but it is more interesting now (after this past wknd) as he may not qualify for Tour Championship if the right combination of lower guys Top 10-15 this week.

Yeah Henrik needs to be healthy for the Ryder Cup. Wish there was DFS for that.

Has to be pretty good situation for him to miss so I think he is just taking his chances and if he doesn’t make it he can rest up even more.

I’m in Michigan. Belong to a club called Oak Pointe CC. Yesterday was a 36 hole betting frenzy. We need a RG Golf Forum Outing.

You live out in Brighton? I’ve heard one of my friends mention that place. Never played there.

Very close. Been at Oak Pointe for 11 years. Has 36 holes. Honors and Champs. Honors is as tough of a course as I play for being somewhat shorter. Very hard. Slope from blue is 142 and back tees is 146. Champs is a great compliment as it is much easier but in great shape and fun to play.

I think the “same field” aspect is the least important as guys at that level do not really care who they are competing against as each and every one can have “their week” and win or Top 5. Yes, the competition is tough but there is so many other things at stake, that would be least important IMO.

For those that don’t know, if you get into theTop 30 after this week, you automatically get into all the majors next year as well as the invitations, etc…it is huge for guys that have not won yet on tour as usually you have to win to get ranked that high to get in (in world Ranking or Fed Ex).

The quick turnaround (especially for those that made cut this past wknd) certainly would cause some added fatigue and I’d expect these guys to manage that quite well but I’d expect the smarter ones to just play 9 holes today and 9 tomorrow and rely on their caddies doing a bunch of re-con work for them. Much easier for the guys that played here 4 years ago but it is important as you are dealing with the choice between fatigue/mental anxiety versus being fully prepared from a course knowledge perspective. The top players probably arrived Monday at 5pm in private jets while the David Hearn’s of the Top 100 caught a commercial flight at 9pm so besides having the experience of how to prep and what works best, the top players have added luxuries as well.

In reality, I doubt there is much of an impact and this isn’t much different than coming off a Monday finish tournament (where weather delayed things) and rolling into the next week Thursday start.

I can’t imagine. I normally play Rackham in Huntington Woods and its slope of 118 is enough to keep me busy.

Where is that at? I’m really not the nut case I tend to be on here so if you are ever up for a new challenge let’s make it happen. If you ever do and play the honors bring plenty of golf balls.

Right next to Royal Oak, about 25 minutes north of Detroit. Thanks for the offer, I’ll keep it in mind. Fair warning, I’m a duffer. Breaking 90 is what I shoot for.

Welp here’s some early ownership analysis, I’m back on 100% DJ and Koepka. Brooks won’t suck like he has been two weeks running and DJ is gonna DJ. Can’t wait for the feast or famine

DUDE!! SERIOUSLY!!! I usually don’t read these forums before doing my lineups and now I wish I had.

Pretty cool having the PGA Back here in Indy… A lot of the Golfers were hanging out at the Colts Complex today. Cool Stuff. Looking forward to a great tournament.

It is going to be a very interesting H2H challenge this week with no cuts.
A lot bigger window to try and get back in it if you’re down.

    ……………………….So with that said…………………………..
    ~~ I am taking all H2H Challenges $20 – $1.00~~
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

It seems that every other week I win most or lose most.
That would mean this week is not my lucky week.
    We shall see…

man it is tough to fit one of the top 3 guys and anyone in the next 4-5 down into a decent lineup. I’m trying to decide if I like Adam Scott enough again to try to squeeze him into a lineup and go with a shot in dark low dollar guy or if I want to stick with my initial lineup that has Woodland & Koepka in those last two spots. I’m not sure if the no cut style means I should go riskier with the punt or take the two guys who are more likely to rack up birdies over the 4 days….hmmmm

  • badtrip

Take 69 guys with challenging salaries and put them on a Dye course and you have what Pete wanted:

To give headaches to the DFS player.

Considering that my name is Pete, and I was born in 69, you have to figure I’m pretty much a lock to score this week.

    I’m a Hoosier to boot!

  • billholler

I have reached my usual weekly conundrum……what do I do with Bubba?

At his usual price, he needs to finish top 5 to be worth it. This week he’s only 8600. Since the beginning of Draftkings PGA DFS, he has never been that low. His previous low was 8700 at the TOUR Championship last year and he finished 5th.
