Does anyone have thoughts about other (more familiar) courses that are similar to Caves Valley GC?

  • cplatt87

Surprised to see some of the names at the bottom of the pricing that made it to the 2nd week. Wouldn’t have thought guys like Swafford, Streb or Matt Jones would be in the top 70, but I guess they’ve all won this year which shows how important that is for FEC points.

With this being a no cut event at a brand new course, I’ll likely play very light.

At a first glance I like Louie, Rory and Hovland at the top and Wise, Killa Keith and Kirk down low as salary savers.

Under Armour HQ is in Baltimore, and they entertain their guests at this course. Unfortunately the only 2 UA golfers playing this week are Spieth and McNealy (yuck and yuck). Here’s a quote from Jordan :

“I think it’s unique,” said three-time major winner Jordan Spieth, who’s played many “fun” rounds at Caves Valley while visiting Under Armour. “You’re going to have an opportunity to get off to a really hot start on the first few holes. It’s a significant test after that, especially as you finish on each nine. … I just love going out there for the entire experience.”

Trying to figure out how to tackle this one. Like it’s a “new” course that appears on the longish side. Not just going to play bomber’s but might bump them up a bit. I’ll use scrambling a lot as I think we might see quite a few missed greens.

Anybody find any good flyovers or anything?

    Here’s one,

    But it’s sporadic.

The 2017 Senior Players Championship was played here.

Scott McCarron won with a score -18. Might be another birdie fest.

    A par 71 at almost 7600 yds I doubt it’s a birdie fest.

LOL, If I could have I would have created it Monday. As it turned out I was snug in my bed when DK released salaries and did get the contest started while drinking my first cup of coffee.

I think that’s it for me for this season! A 70 man no cut event on an unknown course, then a 30 man no cut event, both with all the best players in the world. I’ll watch for sure though, and maybe get some SD action on Sunday to make it fun!

Felix, you can’t nail the winner at the previous event and then take the following week off… Plus hockey doesn’t start for over a month!

For me PGA Achievements is pretty much over on Thursday for this year. just 1 day needed to complete the mission

Thursdays classic will boost my crowns over 30K with Ironman’s and not really any other levels achievable in other catagories.

I am curious and compare with anyone who wants to share.
    I played all weeks

    6/6 LU’s was a dreadful 165
    BOFR 2,950
    Birdies 214, 440

how bout you all so far?

Don’t really understand the reluctance to play because of a new course. Seems like a great opportunity to try and figure it out vs other weeks where you’re going up against max entry optimizers spitting out lineups with little thought due to the massive amount of data available. Maybe it’s because I don’t use an optimizer but seems like a great week to me to go for it

  • timusbr

As I play less money than sleazygreazy, I agree wholeheartedly. in a game that requires luck to miss landmines, with variance of golfer that will make you scratch your head, Anything to add to the pot of uncertainty is to my benefit.

but must say I am surprised a person who plays the big bucks feels the same.

The last WGC event showed me it might be a better alternative to take it easy on Gpp play in favor of adding H2H/double ups or small 10 man contests.

This! I got on Finau last week only because you suggested him. I didn’t place any outrights last week, but I made a good profit in DFS!

Until we can start talking about which shitty goalie to stack against in 6 weeks I need your golf picks!

Yes 25K Ironman crowns earned Thursday 129/130 now and another 5K for weekly golf Ironman

    cut maker level 7 134/150

bogey free rounds level 8 1.4K/2.5K

    total birdies level 12 111.34K/200K

Cut Maker – Total paid PGA Classic entries with all six golfers making the cut from 1/7/21 – 9/5/21: 635/1K

I was doing well with that but then basically terrible the last 2 months.

Mr. Clean – Total bogey-free round bonuses racked up in paid PGA entries from 3/11/21 – 9/5/21: 6.6K/10K

Did better with that, but not going to get to 10K (which is a whopping 500 crowns, aka 500/550 = $0.91 anyways).

Birdie Machine – 433.72K/500K: Not getting to 500K, that’s for sure.

Annoying thing for me is how many times I forgot to put an afternoon lineup. All it cost was 10 cents…unless you didn’t get around to it.

The 36er – Total days playing paid PGA entries at two different start times from 3/11/21 – 9/5/21. (Day = 12:00:00AM ET – 11:59:59PM ET): 83/85

Due to popular demand, I’ll have to take a look! We have to be prepared to see some huge swings from start to finish!

From what I see, it should be very similar to last week. Does anyone know if something happened to Morikawa? He can be such a beast but missed badly last week!
