I’ve noticed both FanDuel and DraftKings bumping up their rake for certain leagues. It’s happening even in qualifiers where contestants would be double raked if they won their Q. Can one of the programming geniuses here at RG make a tool/browser extension that will easily clarify what rake equals for each specific game? It can be a color-coded system that breaks up rake into multiple categories (green-6-9%, yellow 10-12%, red 13=+%). This industry is going from bad to worse by the minute for the player. Only way to fight this is to be better consumers and to be more informed on where our $$ is going. It’s becoming ridiculous on how high some of these raked contests are getting. Only one winner in the long run if they keep squeezing us this badly….

Is there any hope for a Firefox extension?

king thanks man! i’m not sure about firefox. I haven’t used it in years. I’ll take a look, but I probably want to stick with chrome.

There are two extensions, two different links. Check Chrome Settings > More Tools > Extensions to see what you have installed.

These extensions do take cpu resources, so they don’t run unless you click the icon, which only appears while on FD or DK, in the Chrome omnibox (‘search bar’), on the right, near the ‘Bookmark Star’. If you are on the page with the respective extensions installed and still don’t see an ‘R’ icon in the omnibox, let me know. PM me even.

      2013 FanDuel WFFC Finalist

I just wanted to thank dfskehd for creating this rake tool. We are lucky to have a community that can help each other based upon certain individual strengths and i greatly appreciate you taking the time and effort to create this for both FanDuel and Draftkings. Hopefully this will allow the RG community to stay more informed on where their dfs dollars are going and help members become more informed and profitable in the future. Thanks again dfskehd. One hell of a job man!

Thanks Killab! It was a fun project. It makes me think there are a lot more opportunities for (premium) DFS data overlay extensions. I can’t pursue it seriously, but somebody should!

    Great tool man much appreciated!

Don’t take this wrongly because this is seriously great stuff, but is there a way to go back to the older FD version? I don’t like how the rake % takes up a whole line in the FD lobby, thereby spacing out the contests from one another.

Funny you mention it. It bothered me too, but i was too lazy to fix it until…an hour ago.

It’s available. It’s going through Google auto-approval process now, should be up in 20 minutes or so.

You can force an update from the extensions page in chrome’s tools menu. Here is the change:

is there any correlation between how much something is raked and the percentage payed out? Perhaps under the rake percentage put out the percentage payed out? I know that some tournaments only pay out around 17% when a similar buy in pays out 22% . Just throwing out ideas; DK version works great! Thanks for the hard work!

Well on an individual contest level the percentage paid out will be: 100% less the rake. Tournaments paying out 17% sounds like a racket, I think i’m misunderstanding but i’ve had a lot of whisky. Tell me more. Glad you like it!

  • leafs93

appears rake goes hand in hand with buy-in amount (duh already knew that) but it is nice to find the odd 50$ buyin small field gpp being raked at 9.09% like the 200$ Gpp but for 150$ less, more bang for your buck in my opinion.

  • crimsonrain

Does the amount of entries affect the rake? Say if the contest overlays; will the rake percentage change?

Well yes, overlay is the opposite of rake in GPPs, so if the prize pool is greater than the entry fees there is overlay (the site pays the difference) and not rake: a contest cannot have overlay and rake at the same time. The calculated rake % assumes that the contest fills. I could calculate current overlay % but i’m not sure this is a good indicator of a deal unless the overlay is greater than the entry velocity in the final hour or so before the contests start and i’m not sure what those variables would be.

  • leafs93

overlay is like seeing a endangered species in the wild, if you wait and look hard enough you will find it but not often.

  • crimsonrain

How about Multi Entry(In the same tournament)? Would that affect anything? Im not sure if an overlay calculator would work because of the chaos that occurs with the last minutes. However here’s another suggestion: Any way to calculate live rake percentage based on amount of entries? So every time an entry pops in the rake would go up Im assuming? So IF the contest doesn’t fill we could see the rake percentage? Would be an ambitious project! sorry for hammering you with noob questions, i truely appreciate your time!

No possibility of a mobile version?

  • dfskehd

@crimsonrain – unique entrants could be interesting. or maybe showing any overlay % if time remaining is less than x. I think i need to pause live updating, or at least disable the flashing, because it makes modifying the lobby table difficult and everything starts jumping around.

@lightninglarry – I guess it could technically be done as an Android app a la Adblock for Android, but no sorry, mobile browsers don’t currently have extensions.

    Currently in the Fanduel lobby:
[30.07% Rake] Satellite to Wed MLB Monster on 4/22 (5 seats)
    143 entries @ $10/entry
    5 $200 tickets ($1000 total value)
