I notice some of the pros/writers don’t play in many high stakes games…are they not confident in their analysis? I’m talking less than 5 dollar games. Thanks!

Crain, are all the events still a go for Nashville?

Question for Notorious or really any content provider…

As a competitive DFS’er how do you balance between giving out your model in golf or writing the daily grind down… and then trying to build a lineup that isnt going to be a Chalksaurus Rex because you just shifted the entire Rotogrinders readership onto patrick cantlay or terry rozier that slate?

    Question for all personalities:

Does playing DFS on a particularly brutal slate where a bunch of random BS is transpiring ever remind you of that last level of Marble Madness on Nintendo as a kid?… “EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG!”

Obviously happy to talk about DFS….but we also want some outside the box questions. Things like……What is your favorite finishing move in wrestling history? What is the most random celebrity encounter you’ve had? Which RG analyst would do best on Survivor? Feel free to go outside the box a little bit with these.

With the legality changes to sports betting, and the crest of growth of the industry, what is Rotogrinders doing as whole to nullify the completely offputting “boys club” mentality that penetrates almost every aspect of content on the website as well as most others? Sex jokes, forum pictures of women’s asses, constant childish insults to other employees, bragging about how much you can drink, etc. I get it, those things are funny to a large portion of the audience, but with the idea that you want to be taken seriously as a professional service to an increasingly growing industry, doesn’t something have to change?

This isn’t probably the light hearted stuff you were hoping for, but it has been something that I have been wondering.

So your the one that complained about ass day? Sorry if it offended you and they did put a stop to it BUT I do think a large majority of the forum enjoyed ass day. I think it’s difficult for any business to directly cater to 1-2% of its customers and I’d imagine that’s a pretty accurate breakdown of what percentage of RG’s customers are female.

I did see that, i did not complain as I knew it violated the forum rules and would probably be removed. I was not offended. I find it more sad than anything that grown ass people find it amusing to hilarious to post pictures of that nature. Like I said, in my question, this is about growth of an industry. How do you move sports betting and dfs past the frat boy stereotype and become a desirable business to other advertisers? It isn’t with continue focus on that stereo type, it is about targeted growth to new customers, and diversification of the voices within the industry. Hell, I know this is a losing cause, Fanduel just announced that new cruise that one of the advertised perks of winning is partying with playboy playmates. Draftkings had that stupid advertisement that mimicked viagra advertisements for a short amount of time. I know i am a minority of people here that probably think about it, but I am interested to know what the people that run this website think.

I was a bit bothered by that myself. Not that I care about asses, just that there are much better ass delivery systems than some gifs cluttering a thread on RG. The contest threads are so filled with nonsense that even though that’s something I’d naturally want to gravitate to an be involved with, it’s just a time suck and while there is likely good info there, it’s just buried in pages and pages of nonsense and you have no idea where the good stuff may be.

It also makes what I do as a hobby seem pretty ridiculous. Me looking at my computer screen and it’s all asses and my girlfirend says “what are you dong honey?” and I try to explain that I’m doing statistical research :)

As for a question for the writers, let’s get some reg bashing going :)

For each of you, which of the well known regs would you prefer to matched up with the most in a big money h2h?

If you play on yahoo, then it’s really easy, basically only 5-10 people regularly create open h2hs, which of them would you prefer to be matched up against the most.

You’re focused on the forum when I see the same sort of things seeping into video and written content. I respect the hell out of the work that these people do, but for example, listening to Beermakersfans make a joke on the DFS OGs podcast this past season about how the most painful thing he’s ever faced was the fact that his wife’s had to be cut open more during the birth of one of his daughters because it would hurt his sex life is completely disrespectful to the pain she went through. That’s just one example out of many.

We would appreciate it if we got back on track with questions. Darksheep asked a question to the hosts and they may answer it if they so choose, however this isn’t the thread for a huge discussion about it.

    Thanks.

is there a list of which RG personalities will be there?

will anyone be there providing footage of some of what goes on?

  • timusbr

I got a question that needs to be lead into. These personalities are professionals. I get that, they are geared to making the best LU against the best DFS players for the biggest amount of money.
I am a small time player, The best thing about DFS is I can make a LU in the qtr and its got all the components that the professionals have. I can actually compare how I do vs the pros by the end result score. Money doesnt matter the quarter is the same as the thunderdome.

Have you ever considered to play in a league that has a $1 entry vs “Most” of your readers/listeners who play that stake level. What reasoning is most prevelant
    a) dont want to take the cash from the fish
    b) dont want to be embarrassed by not finishing near the top over an extended timeframe
    c) just not worth your time and effort
    d) contractual or rules prevent it

I would like to hear if you have ever have gotten a reach out from a famous person, or a professional athlete, based on a comment you made.

  • yisman

tim, on Crunch Time they do a tournament each Friday on DK and I believe the hosts participate in it (as well as other RG personalities watching).

Nicole Valencia during MLB season used to create DK contests for viewers and she used to play in that.
