Anyone in the Santa Barbara, CA area that plays for a living?

  • Foreman84

I do not play for a living, but I do play daily. I am currently in the central valley and spend a good amount of time throughout the year back home on the coast north of SB.

    where in the central valley?

  • charger4life

I lived in Tulare for some years.

    What’s the situation?

  • INSPYR

So it’s legal to get a card to be “medicated” but I have to accept that my choice on how to spend my time and money are being looked into as illegal. OH YA, the “meds” are taxed…that makes sense. DK and FD just didn’t line the pockets enough of state officials. Having an office in Downtown LA, I know that English is a foreign language to A LOT of people. Let’s work on real issues California….

  • charger4life

the situation is the same as NY, now starting in California

are we just shooting the shit and talking about our favorite spots to grab coffee in CA or did something happen regarding DFS in our state that I missed?

btw, I live in LA and about an hour or so away from Santa Barbara that semi plays for a living…. and coffee bean in cash games

edit: this thread is why I love the west coast so much. they seriously should contaminate our drinking water with adderall though

Odds, Marc Levine-D from Marin County has asked the AG to stop DFS in the state. We could find ourselves in the same situation as NY soon.

I’m in Sacramento, play after work and on days off. I’ve seen all your names in the late slates, too. So I guess that makes sense that you’re all in CA.

Cali should take the lead here and LURE FanDuel from NY into “The Valley”. Probably where they belong. But that’s what makes California great. Do it Cali.

here’s his letter to Kamala Harris. http://www.legalsportsreport.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/AG-Letter-Nov-2.pdf

  • theiguy

Im in Bakersfield and Ive already sent a very nice letter to Mr. Levine, even though at this point that does nothing but make me feel a little better about our total lack of control here. Weve already had 1 CA assemblyman (who already plays season long) propose a bill that would be dealt with sometime next year.. but Mr. Levine simply watched the NY AG and obviously wanted to piggyback on what he views is a hot button topic that could get him some press. Hopefully our AG wont get caught up in the hype.
The guy (Assemblyman Marc Levine), has a laundy list of public issues he is supposed to be fighting, including elderly living, low employment, and a plastic bag ban.
All of that but he supposedly believes DFS is a serious threat to CA and needs to be banned and then discussed later. He is exactly why people dont like most politicians but the way our laws work these are the type of guys that will have the last say in what we can and cant do with DFS. Im just hoping for quick and painless regulation that just makes sure the games arent unfair in any way (which I dont think they are), but doesnt totally overhaul the industry.. so we can get back to our fun hobby.

  • charger4life

I was trying to connect with local people to talk about a solution IF they were able to cease playing in California. virtual networking essentially.

  • tyrant1014

The Assemblyman is a Nutcase, if you look at his crusades then you will see it is definitely a press issue. Didn’t the plastic bag ban already start?

This is why I am moving back to oregon, California loves to tell you how you can and can’t spend your money.

I’m in Orange County, so definitely paying close attention to what happens in CA courts!

  • chronoxiong

I live in in Central California and I want to keep playing DFS. I don’t want us to get wiped out. It will be a sad day if that happens. Although it will give me time to get my real career going. Lol.

I grew up in Porterville and still visit Visalia almost yearly. Shout out to the central valley! :) I also play dfs for a living and constantly torn about moving back to Cali(currently in TX). Hopefully, the government won’t make my decision for me. :(

I doubt it’ll have any effect on the WFFC since Cali would have to nix it very soon but I wonder what would happen in that case? Would all the qualifiers get the 100K prize package? Also, I wonder what’d happen if you won ticket into it and then your state says you cannot play anymore…weird circumstances but it has me wondering.
