I was about to point out that “South Carolina” isnt a directional school because thats the actual name of the state. Not like those damn East Carolina Pirates or Western Carolina Catamounts haha.

    Oh yeah good point…

Really hard to pinpoint early on who is taking over what roles to be able to see good cheap values.

Yeah on KenPom alot of the “high usage” guys on certain teams are bench players that have gotten crazy runs in blowouts

haha i avoided all duke guys because i assume kentucky would give them the business and win double digits

Neither team really impressed me. Kentucky’s guards definitely played well, especially Ullis. But for as “big” as Kentucky is, Duke’s bigs outplayed them. Duke’s two best players completely “no showed” and Kentucky still couldn’t pull away until late.

I also didn’t like that Coach K essentially buried Brandon Ingram on the bench, and even did the same to Grayson Allen for stretches. If they are your two best players, you have to let them play their way out of a bad game. Calipari did the same to Labissiere. Both teams should continue to improve as the season goes on though. Just my opinion.

I stopped watching at half, did Plumlee just stop being super energy or did Kentucky do something to take him away from the basket?

My gut says that Plumlee wore himself out in the first half, as he’s not really used to playing 36 minutes per game. He’s always been a high energy guy off the bench that comes in and plays 100 mph for stretches. He may need to learn to pace himself a little if Chase Jeter doesn’t develop into a guy that can give them minutes this season. Also, Amile Jefferson basically did in the 2nd half what Plumlee did in the 1st.

Yeah I saw Jefferson’s line to finish, He’s somebody that has always intrigued me but he disappears at times. Think he has great value now that DK has blocks/steals

He really doesn’t have much of an offensive game outside the paint. But he’s 6’9” with a 7 foot wingspan, athletic, and has continued to bulk up during his time at Duke. Very good rebounder and he can finish around the basket. He’s going to play 30+ minutes per night as long as he stays out of foul trouble. I think he could average close to a double/double with about 1 block and 1 steal per game. Surprisingly he only has 1 block so far in 3 games (4 steals).

We’ll both coaches did what NCAA coaches do bench players with 2 fouls, both Ingram and labissier had foul trouble all night…

Ingram picked up 2nd with nine minutes to go in half sat rest of half picked up 3rd 30 seconds into 2nd

Labissier picked up 2nd with 12 minutes left in half sat rest of half picked up 4th With 9 minutes left in game went to bench rest of game

Duke really put Kentucky in foul trouble in the first half, did they stop attacking in the second half?

Coach K doesn’t usually ever bench guys with 2 fouls. He might for a short time but he has no problem bringing them back. Now Ingram is a freshmen playing his 3rd game, so maybe he doesn’t trust him yet, but I really think it also had to do with poor performance on the court. He benched Grayson Allen for longer stretches than I expected and he didn’t have any foul trouble.

Labissiere and Lee did both foul out, although most of Lee’s fouls were just dumb plays. Duke’s offense never really got going last night. Their whole offense was Plumlee and Jefferson crashing the offensive boards, and a few made 3’s by Matt Jones.

True with coach K I think it was foul trouble 1st half with a freshman , 2nd half didn’t like his production.. Both still sat a combined 21 minutes in 1st half once they picked up 2nd…I think both being freshman also had some to do with not playing them with

I’m not seeing the top Gonzaga guys like on DK when trying to select my lineup. They were there earlier today but not now. Am I the only one having this problem?

F***!!!!!!! I played Allen and Dunn, who along with Devin Thomas have combined thus far for 0 points. I know it is early, but still. I am so sick of these gutless mofos, such as these guys, Grayson Allen, and the Baylor Bums from the other night, who decide to utterly suck. Hopefully the Allen, Dunn, Thomas trio will turn it around before the end of the night, because I really like the lineup on paper.
