Any chance this years college football tournaments for FD/DK will be bigger tournaments? Last year was so small and not much money to be had. Maybe that had to do with how quickly they brought it back in August? I remember how good the tournaments were and the multi entry’s were a good size before they took it away. I’m hoping it gets back to that but that is probably wishful thinking on my part….What do you all think?

    Would be nice!

I am guessing probably not since there is only a limited amount of states were college football is allowed so it will never be what it once was when every state was allowed to play.

Was Texas and Alabama still banned for FD when college started last year?

yes, i’m in Alabama and we couldn’t even play free CFB contests. But as far as i know, we can play CFB paid contests starting this year; don’t believe there were any restrictions in the new law that prohibit CFB.

First off, I think CFB is my favorite DFS sport out there, tons of points, tons of options for plays etc. However, I am guessing it goes like every other “niche” DFS sport.

    Week 1—Huge contests—Big overlay
Week 2—Smaller contests—Some one doesnt report an injury or supsension and burns people
Week 3—Smaller since people dont want to get burned by some guy they dont know
Week 4—Smaller than weeks 1-2-3 and about what we see the rest of the year

Its really too bad because man is it an incredibly fun game to play but unlike NBA/MLB/NFL there are way more unknowns, way less info out there and its just more extensive to find stuff, that drives off a ton of people. Thats why NFL is so popular, you can log on 30 min before a game and go hey Brady-D Cook—McCoy—Ginn—Beckham-Kelce hey i know all these guys sure im in! harder to log on and go hmm i am picking between Charlie Brewer, Jordan Love and Nathan Rourke hmmm

You hit it right on the head….that’s what I love about college football….the info isn’t right in front of your face…I love being able to find the info and put in the hard work that other people won’t….

The beauty of college football DFS has been stated above. Not much help out there so you have to actually watch some games and put in some leg work online. NFL/NBA way different in terms of all kinds of helpful info to create decent teams and no secrets anymore.

Don’t see it getting much bigger till other states allow it.. I know in PA we couldn’t play but sports wagering was passed. I wonder if that’ll change this season, I doubt it but hopefully we can.

PA is like Ohio, they passed a non-amateur clause. Can’t play any College stakes. Unless that changed in the last month, they signed bills into law for it a year or 2 ago. I just take that 35 minute drive down to WV when not working on Saturdays and do L/U

That’s funny – I do too. I take the trek from Youngstown to Mountaineer Casino usually every Thursday/Friday to enter my contests. I will admit it gets tough by the end of the year when it’s Thanksgiving and the Bowls start around the holiday season, but there is no way I want to miss a week. CFB DFS is my favorite, no questions asked.

Any news on CFB for New Yorkers?

I don’t think we can play. I think we fall under that non-amateur clause referenced above. I just wish New York State would get with it on sports betting and legalize all types of DFS. I can’t even play Summer League Basketball in NY for some reason.

Are DraftKings and FanDuel the only sites that will offer CFB?

  • mtdurham

I felt like with the problem with college football is that I’d pull up the offerings for Akron vs Western Valley Directional Tech and take a look and they had like 2 billion different contests ranging from like $1 double ups to 100 man GPP’s with prize pools barely large enough to justify the expense of using my laptops electricity to see which kid was arrested for domestic assault or was suspended for a quarter for skipping his 9 AM Women’s Religious Studies .

For that kind of stuff they need to drastically LIMIT the offerings. One $5 contest. that’s it. You’ve got to Make the prize pool worth the research or at least make it worth it for me to get off the couch and go buy enough beer to justify watching the game.

As you might guess from my username I’m big on college football and am excited both to be able to play DFS again in Alabama and that CFB is back.

I’m curious, how poor was the CFB landscape last year? What were the biggest buy ins and first place prizes?

  • lagee

I cannot speak for DK as I only played CFB on FD. I mainly focused my bankroll on the weekly $9.99 entry $10k-$20K weekly tourney. Usually filled with ~2K entrants which was fun but technically was the only “real” tourney to choose from.

During bowl season, they ran a sort of mini “King of the Campus” tourney which upset me (I wish it had been a bigger slate and higher buy-in). It was horribly planned and only had 1-2 weeks worth of satellites to choose from (usually Maction).

Overall, I overlooked all of this simply because I was too excited that CFB was back. I’m excited for this year and expect it to be better with a season of data under their belts.
