I saw this text on twitter recently…

Good news for DFS fantasy college football this season. Paid fantasy sports contests are now allowed in Missouri, Delaware, Alabama (new laws) and Maryland (new regulations). Plus Iowa will add college sports in spring 2020 (delayed start).

Today I tried to reserve the 8/31 college football GPP on DK and it’s giving me the same old “not in your state” message.

Anybody know what the deal is?

Good possibility that even though ‘lawmakers’ passed it through, they have yet to approve the sites to “include” Maryland as a state they can offer it in as they like any other state have to obtain a license to operate(for said sport). Ohio when they passed their DFS bill they excluded “amateur sports” so for me I need to drive to WV(PA though closer did the same) to reserve my lineups.

Edit: Will also add that I do know DK and FD pulled college sports as a Deal with the NCAA, so that could be the hold up as well

DK added them back last year but Maryland was not on the list of OK states. Thankfully I am 10 minutes from the DC border but still it’s a hassle.

I may be wrong but it might be a sport for sport license(but I think I’m way wrong) it’s just a matter of time for DK to add Maryland.

With College football betting being live in PA late sept or early Oct. Will College DFS be allowed as well? Its doesn’t make much sense to takes bets on NCAA football but bit allow DFS college football.

I’m not sure the status of Maryland, but you may have gotten the message in error because I did. I’m in Alabama, and that message popped up when I clicked on a contest, but I was able to close it out and enter the contest.

Unfortunately the state would have to change the law on DFS, which currently says no amateur sports. I doubt that anyone will take the time to do that. The sites would have to push for it, but college sports are such a small part of their revenue that I doubt it happens. The states that got DFS laws on the books early actually get screwed when it comes to college sports, and this clause was in a majority of those DFS laws, as at the time, the DFS sites made an agreement with the NCAA to drop those sports in favor of trying to get laws in place for their major sports.
