Well looks like you got your way. Prices in the Col game are weak. Wish DK would just stick to their guns. This was very predictable though.

Once again all I’m asking for consistency, so if this is how it’s going to be then fine.. But please just be consistent with the pricing. As an example of Morneau even if he hasn’t been playing well, park factor has always trumped recent performance based on what Dk says their pricing is. I’m happy for all of you who got your way. As I said, congrats.

I find these threads to be hilarious.

No one is forcing you to play on a certain site. If you don’t like the way the pricing is done, go play somewhere else—-you have plenty of options.

Some people like tighter pricing, some like looser pricing. Some say tighter pricing requires more skill, some say the same about looser pricing. Go to a site that you think best addresses your viewpoint. Simple.

Holy sh*t. I love you guys but damn, maxs comment again shows most of you are missing the point. I am asking for Consistency in pricing. We have had two threads now regarding this, both in differnt directions.. Would love to hear from DK to find out what their intentions are.

The problem is if you want volume you have to play on either DK or FD. I play on DK for a few reasons not just pricing. If they are going to abandon the tight pricing then stick with it.. But we know what will happen, out of no where some random day and they will go back to tight pricing.

  • maxeernst

I understood your point, but do you really think they’re going to heed your comment or share their algorithm?

Only valid reasoning I’d see here is if you have a lot of money tied up on one site and when the pricing gets looser you don’t want to play but can’t transfer it off in time. If that’s your issue, split up your bankroll on two sites.

Max you are right that I have my $$$ tied up on one site mostly because I only have time for one site. The reason I play DK is because I like two pitcher, late swap and the multi pos and of course decent h2h volume. I don’t like FD becaus I don’t like -.25 per out or that you only get 2 SP. I don’t play other sites because I don’t have the time to analyze more than one sites pricing in a day.

Yea I’m going to deal with it, I just would like there to be no more changes. If this is how the pricing is going to be then fine, let it be this way till the end of the season. Just be consistent that’s all I’m asking. FD has made it clear the type of customer they are trying to attract, I don’t know who dks target is.. Likely they don’t know. I don’t know if it’s dk guys and ds guys butting heads.. I have no idea.

Ld, sounds like they have a some positives for you that should outweigh some inconsistency in their pricing. Cant be all things to all people.

I think they hit a great middle ground here that is best for the most.

  • maxeernst

Their algorithm obviously is structured to take a multitude of things into account when pricing players. It isn’t being inconsistent. That’s just the way the algorithm is written.

The inconsistency you seem to feel is actually intentional and consistent with how the algorithm is designed to operate.

You make it sound like before this post they were in a closed beta! Of course they are taking new players, why wouldn’t they? Shill post?

The score in tonights game will be 2 -1.

Yes DK please don’t listen to these few hardcore grinders. Most of us want a lineup that has players we know in it. There are only a small percentage of grinders that don’t.

  • YoungFischer

Last season DK used the big Coors Field inflation factor for player salaries there. This year they appear to have added a lot of additional factors. I’d guess that they didn’t weight things very well so that the additional factors are outweighing the park factors adjustment when it should be the other way around for Coors Field. Or they completely abandoned their entire pricing setup two weeks into the season lol.

For those who enjoy tighter’ish pricing, I think FantasyAces SalPro games offer the best compromise. It allows the player to decide if they want to play with a tighter cap and be rewarded with bonus points or go over the cap and have points deducted. Everyone is happy.

So I had emailed dk this thread last night when I created it to get reaction. This was their response

We strive to create the best user experience for each and every one of our customers. Our Contest Operations Team reviews our salaries on a day-to-day basis predicated on numerous factors within our algorithm. We are consistently exploring new ways to create the best Daily Fantasy Sports platform possible and we take all user recommendations very seriously. I apologize if the recent player salaries has resulted in a negative experience for you and I will be sure to pass along this thread to our Contest Operations team for further review.

    This was my response

I think that is the problem. You guys are consistently trying to keep everyone happy when that is not possible. I think you guys need to decide who you want to be and stick to it instead of having your customers decide. By doing that you will never be consistent.

This x1000. When you look at some of the prices they have spit out where backups who don’t play and don’t have any platoon advantage are priced higher than starters who do, and see what they’ve done to the pitchers salaries at the bottom/less well known end, it makes no sense. Rosario is the second highest priced catcher of the day at $4700, he won’t play, and is $1600 more than Hundley (and $1,000 more than McKenry), while Norris is at $3800 also in Coors. Sean Greene was $6000 yesterday only $400 more than Despaigne pitching in Coors. These kind of inconsistencies are not “tight”. As YoungFischer points out, things aren’t being weighed very well by the algorithim,

I don’t understand why you think the pricing is so bad today? Coors could easily be the 4th or 5th highest scoring game tonight.

Personally, I think it would be crazy if Morneau and Cargo were 6k tonight. Scott Van SLyke has started 2 games and has more points than Morneau.

If you think Coors is such a lock tonight then spend all day making as many variations of those stacks as possible and cash in tonight.

Their pricing model is and always has been erratic, deal with it. You could have made dozens of Coors stacks already for the time you’ve spent complaining.

    Hey Guys,

Our goal with salaries is to provide a competitive, enjoyable game. We do value consistency, and any changes we have made to the algorithm have been intended to be minor tweaks. Early in the season we often make small adjustments to try to find the optimal formula that pleases the most users and provides the best game quality/experience.

As many of you have noticed, some aspects of the matchups are factored into our salary algorithm. This is intended to make more players viable options, which we think creates a better game. We do not want to overcorrect. We are aiming to create a scenario where once in a while there might be some viable options even if there are some aspects of their matchup going against them. This should open up more room for strategy while minimizing overlap.

@8Mile – All hitters are priced as if they are going to be in the starting lineup

We prefer not to get into too much detail/specifics on salaries, but I hope this response helps provide some clarity.

    Thanks,
    Mark
