Want to say somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 to play la cana and 300 to play corales. Add on caddy, drinks, other tips, and something from the pro shop and the green fees are about half of what you end up spending.

Ok, thanks. Count me out of that trip. I’ve never been able to justify spending that much money on 3-4 hours of frustratingly hitting the little white ball around the countryside.

I’ll check it out. Being from Florida, any elevation change seems so amazing add in some rocks and wow. I got a chance to go to Mountain Top Golf and Lake Club in NC., that place was dazzling. Those drives are awesome when you are up 100 yds of elevation.

Have not been to the DR but heard the course is nice as long as it’s not blowing too hard. I know a couple people that have played it.

In about 5 weeks, the Tour is in Bermuda and I’ve been there for work so got to play that Port Royal GC a couple times and a good friend lived there for about 10 and was a member. Always fun to watch a course on TV that you’ve played at or at least walked as a spectator.

I’ve played it. Windiest round I’ve ever played. I remember hitting driver 5 iron into a 340 yard hole and then driving it 360 into a pond on a hole going the other way (I hit driver about 270).

This Payne Valley course at Big Cedar Lodge that they are debuting on right now for this exhibition looks absolutely amazing. There are also two other 18 hole courses including a Fazio and a Coore and Crenshaw. There are also two shorter executive / par 3 type courses designed by Nicklaus and Player. This is now on my bucket list. No idea how I hadn’t heard of it before. Almost want to go here more than Bandon.

One of my only true golf pilgrimages was to Bandon. Absolutely amazing golfing and seaside nature experience!

But this place looks next-level in term of fantasy mountain resort and family wonderland activities. Can’t wait to take my daughter here someday, definitely on the bucket list now too!

Has anyone found the Pat Mayo Contest for golf or football this week? I cannot find it anywhere.

    LOL I get it.

The King & The Bear down the street from me costs $150. But I prefer to find new courses at a steep discount thru the Golf Now site. Have played so many nice and historical courses for under 50 bucks. The Donald Ross designed Palatka Golf Club is often a hot deal for just $10 for a middle of the day tee time.

Meh, I just can’t get enthused about this weeks tourny.

They’ve played Champions Tour events at Big Cedar for years – started out that they played the Par 3 course for a couple days and this year they played 2 events in the same week: one event was Mon-Wed on the Fazio and then Fri-Sun on the Coore/Crenshaw. Mickelson played there in his first Senior event after he missed cut in Fed Ex event.

I don’t think he is doing any more golf ones besides The Masters until after NFL season is over.

Have not seen the NFL one this week yet

Have you played Eagles Landing at Oakleaf Plantation? Golf Now had it for $32 on a Friday 10 AM tee time when I went 3 weeks ago.

Exactly. I play my local Navy and Air Force bases because the price is right. I used to play the Charleston Muni, but it’s been both under renovation and closed for COVID. In the end, by golf day happiness comes from how well I played, and it doesn’t really matter where it is. Too much money will make me regret it, though. All of it is better than sitting on the couch all day, and almost all golf courses are nice scenery. Where else are there hundreds of acres of grass that gets watered and cut everyday.

However, my wife also likes to go on vacation from time to time, so always interested in a place the family can enjoy while I might play a reasonably-priced round of golf.

Yeah I don’t usually pay attention to the Champions tour at all but saw he set the course record and lapped the field in his first event. He should probably switch to the Champions tour permanently.

BIF, you playing Alex Smalley? He’s not Canadian, but played on the Mackenzie Tour.

So on the Gravy and the Sleaze podcast that I heard last Thursday afternoon on Sirius Golf, Drew Stoltz mentioned when he talked to Spieth before the US Open Spieth said he wasn’t expecting much at the US Open due to the fact he is working on something with his swing.

He’s been working on his swing the last 11 months. Obviously it’s not working, needs to dump McCormick and get in touch with the Harmon’s.

Pick 1? Garnett, Jones, GMAC, HOAG?

I wish I had that mindset. I spend so much money on golf because I don’t want to miss out on the best courses this world has to offer.

  • cplatt87

Despite telling myself I wouldn’t play this week, I clicked in a lineup this morning anyways. Just a single bullet in the big $5 DK tournament, but at least i’ll have a reason to pay attention this weekend.

Same. And I get to do it playing in tournament conditions. The pro courses that I have gotten to play so far:

    Pinehurst
    Kiawah Island Ocean Course
    Sea Island
    Innisbrook
    PGA National
    The Ocean Club Bahamas
