Nice article about how NHL secondary stats will not only be available, but even an NBA fan can use….

That is one of the dumbest articles I have ever read. The only thing that rivals it are some other articles from the same author.

Regardless of the effects this would have on the stats world, just imagine how much money you could make selling the chip inside a puck that went into a crowd. No doubt there would be some pretty high tech stuff in there.

My favorite is: “So now instead of wading through a matrix of numbers, percentages and hard-to-decipher (for older white guys, anyway) graphics, you’ll now be able to know exactly how long a guy like Alexander Ovechkin played, how much time he had the puck on his stick, how much time his team possessed the puck when he was on the ice and how many shots were directed from where while he was on the ice.”

I guess with this new technology we’ll be able to express how long Ovi played using smiley faces and emojis? Because it sure sounded like everything he described would still need to be measured in things like, I don’t know, numbers and percentages and graphics.
