    2. Major conference basketball tournaments to proceed without fans: The Big 12, Big Ten, ACC, Pac-12, SEC, American Athletic Conference and Southland basketball tournaments will proceed without fans beginning with Thursday’s games, following the lead of the NCAA tournament in barring anybody but family and essential personnel.
    3. NCAA tournament will be played without fans: The NCAA made the unprecedented decision to hold the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments without fans because of the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
    4. Michigan, Ohio State cancel spring games: The Big 10 rivals are among the programs that have canceled their annual spring football games, as schools around the country continue to strategize around the coronavirus outbreak.
    5. Ohio to issue order preventing fans at “mass gatherings”: Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine will soon issue an order preventing fans from attending “mass gatherings,” which will impact the NCAA’s First Four next week at Dayton Arena, and first- and second-round games in Cleveland.

I figured I would open this thread for any discussions and any new developments. Please, as always, no speculative posts, racist comments and keep it civil as much as possible.

Their business has no source of revenue for at least a month and a high burn rate. This one was pretty easy to predict.

So, is toilet paper gone where everyone else is? I guess I missed the memo that this virus causes diarrhea…

It is kind of weird how it was assumed that naturally this virus would cause one’s anal cavity to be transformed into Mount Vesuvius.

Charmin, etc. weren’t expecting such a dramatic burst of supply/demand so quickly, so they did not have the time to adjust their business operations. Now that the demand is higher, they’ll crank up the supply. So you and your ass hang in there, buddy, help is on the way!

I’m going to have to find out what the hell ‘LOL’ is.

This is getting dumb. I honestly hope shutting the world down to save a couple hundred lives isn’t offset by 1000 additional suicides from all of the layoffs that will be coming in the next 6-9 as this is destroying businesses in all sectors.

When playing golf in pairs outdoors isn’t safe anymore they should just blow the world up at this point.

I am joining the group of withdrawing everything from the DFS sites in the fears of them shutting the doors in 2 months as life probably won’t be safe for like 12+ months when a vaccine is developed so if outdoor golf isn’t safe I don’t see how any sport or business can return without a vaccine at this point.

Fanduel is probably done if these extend further. They already had issues with funding.

Why FanDuel? They were acquired by Flutter Entertainment, which trades on the FTSE 100 and has since announced it will acquire PokerStars too, which would make it the largest online gambling company in the world by revenue apparently (albeit no great source for that claim). Regardless, they are part of something significant.

I could see FD and DK having to suspend operations, but people who are saying it’s a death blow should tap the brakes. Unless this virus wipes out everyone who plays DFS, it’ll be back. But yeah, in the short term find something else to do.

WWII didn’t cancel baseball. If someone made a movie, and in the movie all sports were canceled, I would have walked out as it being too unbelievable.

    It is seriously unbelievable.

I happen to be a collector, so I plan to start a thread asking if people are interested in watching retro sports games, in entirety, some with commercials, from the late 70s- last year (NFL)

agreed. I have been sick for 3 weeks with this crap. It’s no joke. I think it’s mostly gone now with only an occasional cough but it can take your breathe away for sure. It seems to linger on. I suspect it’s been around for longer than we think but initially and even still, people couldn’t even get tested. As a matter of fact, if you didn’t have a significant fever and had recently visited another “suspect” country, you weren’t even tested…no swab, no cultures, nothing. Hell, I couldn’t even get into my regular doctor.

I honestly think this has been in the US a couple months but most were sitting home, calling in, riding it out. I was really sick in JAN, sans a fever, but it was bad for a week+ … my wife had all those symptoms in JAN+fever…. It may seem we are just getting it, but I think we are > 50% thru this… Mayb hopeful but…

This is my hope as well. I was reading some medical professional reddit posts who felt the same way tests weren’t available so folks were being diagnosed with a generic respiratory illness, others with flu like symptoms but testing negative for flu. Fingers crossed we are further along than the numbers are reporting and the humidity and heat help slow transmission further. Of course, if they don’t have a vaccine by fall, which is unlikely, we may be doing this all again next winter…

The reason we ultimately cancelled and refunded all PGA contests last night was due to the status of the Tournament. In the event that a tournament is cancelled, DraftKings will cancel and refund all contest entries. DraftKings will consider a tournament cancelled if no tour prize money is paid out and no winner is declared, or if the tour itself declares the tournament cancelled (https://www.draftkings.com/help/rules/7).

My “take” is that actual exposure numbers are under-represented because many, many people were turned away when trying to get confirmation for themselves and others just considered it the normal flu or other respiratory sickness for the season. While exposure is under-represented, I suspect impact has been over-exaggerated. Since the only folks we have any information on are those who have been confirmed with the virus, of course the impact is over-exaggerated.

Actual exposure numbers are very much under-represented. We do not have enough testing kits in the US. We are testing 23 people per million right now. Contrast this to South Korea who is testing 3500+ people per million. South Korea is the model to follow for every single country and also China did the right thing as well. They are returning to normalcy and had just 8 new cases yesterday which is fantastic.

In the coming weeks we will see a large number of cases unless we start testing many people and isolating them. If you have a fever, you should get tested ASAP and get isolated ASAP. The media is 100% hyping / panicking people, but the USA is not doing well to control this at all.

FYI: For those planning on a NASCAR fantasy weekend, please pay close attention to the schedule.

Looks like zero practice this weekend for all three series with the truck race tonight and both the Xfinity race and Cup race tomorrow, with qualifying for both the Xfinity and Cup races shortly before race time.

Think this may have more to do with the threat of rain Sunday and all week next week more than the COVID-19 virus, except that without fans attending the race rescheduling is a much easier call for NASCAR.

  • yisman

    well, this is strange

shortly after NASCAR released the new schedule, they announced all races are now postponed.

    Maybe someone tested positive?

  • gvn2fly1421

I wish these damn leagues would stick to a decision they make instead of releasing something, then changing it 3 hours later.

    they’re all flip flopping

    it’s madness

still want to know which genius gave the go ahead to begin TPC and then after day 1, cancels the weekend

Here’s what you junkies are going to do.

Call to order a meet and greet at a sky scraper with a bank of at least 6 lobby elevators.

Start betting each other which door opens next.

Run teasers and parlays on it.

Someone will be running a boot leg optimizer on probabilities, some will pool up.

    Should get you off.

FD and DK have online casino’s. That will help both as people will be avoiding casinos.

  • wolfjb1

Yeah the stupidity is rampant. Reducing crowds is optimal. I don’t know squat about NASCAR but even without fans, there are – what – maybe 2,000 people on site. More? One of those guys who has to be on a pit crew, or whatever, has a grandma or uncle (or friend of a friend, or a relative or whatever) who came in contact with someone infected. All objective information states that you can have corona and be asymptomatic and it can take 2-14 days for symptoms to emerge. Someone at the track likely has it. So you either go forward and risk it, or you don’t. Nothing is gonna change for the better between now and Sunday.

  • ValuableTrader

Ok now THE MASTERS is postponed. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO LOOK FORWARD TO?!

Stay at home, with my family, kid and wife…AND JUST ENJOY THIS? Just enjoy my loving family???? Where does it stop? WHERE DOES IT STOP.
