Tennis is back!
I mean don’t jump in all at once but let’s chat some tennis at some point.
Good luck tonight everyone. Went with some upsets that I hope happen but will just have to wait to see how quickly things either fall apart or work out.
Did 2 LU’s in the Round of 16 Special.
I think by now I probably should have understood that there’s a reason Thiem/Monfils matches are never close. Thiem’s about to win his 11th straight set in the h2h and the average is between 6-2 and 6-3. It’s not so much a difference in their levels as that it’s just a brutal matchup for Monfils—he lets himself get run ragged out there.
If Medvedev would have won I likely take 1st in everything I play. Somehow with that loss I still came in 4th in the $10 $1k SE. Highest finish I’ve ever had without going 6/6
agonising close here too. Needed Kerber to win. And Kontavt not to get broken 90% of her games…
Just can’t see Raonic winning today. He’s 0-9 against Djokovic and will probably be 0-10 after tonight. But to be different I think you have to take a chance that he somehow finds a way to win. Then again even if he does win will he get enough points to push you to the top of the leaderboard.
Think Jabuer, Thiem, and Stan are the underdogs with a chance to win.
Thiem had an epic 5 setter against Nadal at the US Open 2 years ago before he even picked up his play on hard courts. Stan has never won against Zverev but if he is recovered and plays like he did last night he is winning in straight sets. Jabuer has power to end points fast against Kenin. She cannot get into long rallies with Kenin. The one issue with Jabuer is that when she is cold she is cold but when she goes on a hot run in a tournament she usually never losses in a blowout. She should at least take a set in a loss.
Kvitova/Barty is a true toss-up. I am taking Kvitova since I think the crowd will have a reverse effect on Barty. She does seem to let the pressure of playing at home get to her.
