A very windy first couple days for the Dean & Deluca Invitational in lovely (seriously, it’s a great city) Fort Worth,TX:
THURS – Increasing winds, dry.
AM – Winds start off at a nice 10mph, but quickly climb through the late morning, and will be more like 20mph sustained winds as we head towards noon.
PM – Strongest winds of the tourney, 20-25mph sustained winds, wind gusts around 35mph (maybe even a bit higher at times?), really rough golfing weather.
FRI – Still windy.
AM – Winds will start early in the morning around 15-20mph, and stay in that range all morning long.
PM – Sustained winds likely around 20mph, gusts around 30mph. For what it’s worth, it’s also hot and muggy, feels-like temp likely over 100 degrees this afternoon.
SAT & SUN – Lighter winds, some t-storms possible on Sunday.
Overall – The best move here is to go with golfers on the Thurs AM / Fri PM draw. It gets you exposure to the only light wind time (very early Thursday, even though it will only last a few hours), and it avoids exposure to the strongest and gustiest winds Thursday afternoon. Just keep in mind that even by playing it smart, you will still have to contend with windy conditions the first couple of days.
I would really appreciate if you could spread the word on my golf work, I feel like it can be very useful, and it doesn’t yet get much traction. Follow me on Twitter, @KevinRothWx.
