The NBA and Fanduel talk so much about the correlation and user experience between the NBA and DFS.

Well the difference between the Lineup Lock and Game Start continues to be a problem and kills the user experience.

Granted the 41,176 entries in the 100K Clutch Shot are not all individual fans, but it is still a HUGE number. Possibly more fans then are in the Arena tonight. (Rose 28% owned)

This is such a easy fix NBA. Switch the Game Start Times to 10 Minutes after.

FYI… I did not have any Rose in my lineups tonight. Just speaking out for the DFS Community. I have emailed Fanduel several times about this and still get the standard response.

I agree. All the have to do is withhold ownership levels until the final game tips, and there should be no reason why a person couldn’t late swap. There would be no theoretical “edge” gained by having late swap if nobody knows ownership levels until say, the 10:30 slate locks.

Blame Adam Silver.MLB usually starts within a minute of when they schedule the game

My algorithm predicted a Derrick Rose DNP-CD.

The simple fix is NBA teams should be required to post starting lineups 60 minutes before a game starts. I’m pretty sure most coaches know who the starting lineup is going to consist of at shootaround. The problem yesterday was Rose wasnt even in the building, yet no beat reporter even reported him missing from the pre-game shootaround. This is the biggest problem with NBA DFS and it falls strictly on the NBA. There has to be a better way of reporting injuries & starting lineups.

  • fightingjohn

It happens and we just need to accept it. There is no perfect system, just move on to the next night. NBA is not out to do what is right for DFS, no should they be

  • wolfjb1

Whether it’s a real or pretend problem, pro athletes are human beings. I’m not saying we should feel sorry for them and I’m not even saying his absence was justified (so far, no one knows what really happened), but no procedural change can account for the intangibles of being human. What if he got a call about a family tragedy 2 minutes into a game? Shit like that happens.

  • TheGuth

What amazes me most about all of this is that the NBA owners have invested money into FanDuel. You would think they would want it to prosper at the highest levels. So, would it not make sense to tweak a few things to make the user experience as easy as possible? Things like this should absolutely never happen and are so easily avoidable.

wolf, I agree with you that stuff happens, but the Rose case is different. He wasn’t even in the city, he didn’t make the trip.

I guess from their perspective, they probably don’t care too much about if we can set our fantasy lineups or not. i know I don’t think about other people who may be playing me in their fantasy teacher leagues (FTL) when I take a random sick day.

  • Pitch120

What would late swap had done? The slate started at 7:30, as did the Knick game.

How did none of their beat writers realize that he didn’t make the trip?

Ironically, when I take a random sick day I notify my employer before I am gone. Novel idea I know.

I’d like to think I’d be a low 6k guy… Not a lot of upside, but fairly consistent.

This could of been avoided if somebody had just reported Rose wasnt there. I mean did nobody know that he wasnt even in the building until after locks?

This is definitely the strangest part of the whole thing. It’s not like a fourth string PG was missing from the facility.

the game was at home, but your point still stands

  • WidumBoise

So which coach did he get in a fight with?

  • Lathum

For people saying he didn’t make the trip, it was a home game FFS.

As for changes I doubt they would be that easy as it would likely have to be collectively bargained.

I get that. But no beat writer tweets out “20 minutes before tipoff and no sign of D.Rose?”

  • Mindofigor

All the beat writers had 100% Jennings

On a small slate, you need all the advantages you can get

  • mellofellowsu

I knew there would be outrage, but I seriously don’t know what Fanduel has to do with this. This falls squarely on the Knicks and the NBA for not getting this very important news out sooner. It was the first game on the slate so late swap wouldn’t have been useful.

The other thing that is really strange. They announced that Brandon Jennings would start right? I assume word had to be relayed to the PA announcer. Someone in graphics needed to put Jennings picture up instead of Rose. None of those people said a word. The first mention of him not being there was from the Knicks PR account but they didn’t do it until after lock. They clearly knew long before that.
