So, it’s a field of 97 (Sneds, Piercy, Holmes out). Should be pretty easy to make that cut.

Will be hard for me not to play DJ

    Is Adam Scott playing?

On a different topic, I know this has been asked before – does anyone know where I can find stats for Par 4 efficiency from 400-450, etc. The PGA site seemed to be empty when I looked for it.

Is there still a top 70’s and ties for a cut this week even though there are only 97 in the field?

  • BrianVT

    Yes, Adam Scott is playing

I believe if you sign up now it is 120 for the full year or 200 if you miss the promotion package.

Could be wrong but I believe you had to be part of there beta test to get the $120. If not it’s $200 yr, $25 month and $7 weekly.

Yup, I believe you are correct. Thanks for updating me with correct info! I have found the tool to be highly useful.

Edit: Hmm, seems like 120 is open to everyone before a certain date per previous link.

I don’t expect DK to get it right, but with smaller field and minimal cut they better tighten up pricing and put guys in groups of ranges or this week will flat out suck eggs.

Couple things (I’ll try to post some more later tonight when I have time)

I’ve actually played on this course before a few years ago back in college for fun with my professor, who’s a member, and a group of students. I’m not sure if they’ve made any changes to this course, but one thing I noticed about this course is that it’s super mundane for a PGA event course. There wasn’t anything that made me be like wow, that’s memorable. There’s no holes that I would consider are like Amen Corner at the Masters (or the 16th), 17th at the Players, or the Green Mile at Quail Hollow. It does have holes with water, so if you think that’s memorable, I guess there will be some holes with that, but I just didn’t think it was something I would say is a special type of golf course (16th might be the featured hole on this course – could be an important hole because you can get double bogey on that or a rare ace?). Anyways, it seemed like if you wanted to build a standard golf course for people to play on, this course seems like a good candidate. I wouldn’t even say something like the backdrop is memorable.

It’s also very, very short I think. I obviously did not play the same layout as what the PGA players will be playing, but I still think for the regular event, it’s incredibly short, and there will be plenty of birdie opportunities. Many of the players should be getting shots close, and you can see many birdie streaks this week.

Rory started off +4 through 3 holes last year and won, which shows how easy it is to score birdies on this course. So it’s a course where you can definitely make up a ton of shots and you might see some huge changes in scoring from day to day. After Rory’s performance, I don’t think you can complain about an MC from a player through just like 3 holes.

I didn’t know Adam Scott was playing, but that makes sense because he’s outside the top 70 in the Fed Ex Cup Standings, so if he does not play, he cannot play for the rest of the season. I guess he only skipped 1 event instead of 2 for the playoffs for his baby. Sergio I believe will be playing too. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

However, with only 97 players playing, we cold see like 75/97 or even 80/97 if there are lots of ties make the cut. This pretty much means you need a 6/6 to cash unless somehow the MC group contains multiple chalk plays, but that’s unlikely.

So the emphasis should be on cut makers. That should almost be the number 1 stat to look at imo.

I can’t even sweat with you guys this weekend because it’s Saturday.

Will probably get back home and complain about Grace and Stanley though haha =p

The irony is that Brendan Grace is still 99th in the Fed Ex Cup Standings, which means he’ll be playing this week. I assume his price will again be low this week. He’ll probably again be a value pick this week for me, but I’m a bit more apprehensive.

Stanley did bounce back nicely (especially with the putter), so I try not to let Grace’s MC affect my choice this week. If he’s the right price, I’ll consider him for sure.
