Looks like group play Wed-Fri to get to the sweet 16. Then 36 on Saturday to get to the final four. Then 36 on Sunday.

I will put it in my blog but edge to be had this week.
People will play players from same group decreasing chances to get 6/16 for round of 16.

People will play players from same round of 16 groups that face each other decreasing chances of 6/8.

People will play the name brand golfers while the mid and lower tier of the top 64 go unowned. If you look at previous match play results it’s rare to see many of the top ranked players make it to round of 16 as these are all great players and on a daily basis the less owned will beat the higher owned.

I don’t play cash but may this week because cash lineups for most people will stink! It’s a good week to enter a safe GPP lineup in cash vs a cash lineup plus many in cash will not follow the guidelines above.

This format screams that it’s perfect for multiple lineups.

This seems like trying to pull a rabbit out of a hat this week. Probably have a better chance picking blindfolded…

So 16 groups of 4 play round robin tje first 3 days. Then it becomes ncaa bracket style for the sweet 16 on with 2 rounds per day.

Makes more sense. At first thought it was just 64 guys in a bracket which would be insane.

That’s how it use to be but changed to this format two yrs ago.

If I see it correctly, you are right on. Last year only 5 0f 16 top seeds advanced thru group play, and amazingly 3 of bottom 16 seeds advanced. All are world class players and anyone can win 18 hole match. While I give DK credit for coming up with these contests, I wish their best contest wasn’t, paying 25% to first. I am sure a lot of players like this, but I don’t like paying around 40 % rake if you don’t win first. I may take your advise and play 10 or 15 different cash lineups and enter those in GPPs in case they go off.

Below is your 16 who won there group last year. As Whodat said it’s not a good week for single bullets but mass entries. I would imagine that 5-6 of the below would have been 5% or less owned Ly. While the vast majority would have fallen in the 5-15% owned.
    ZJ 44
    McGirt 48
    Phil 14
    Bubba 13
    Casey 12
    Haas 42
    CH3 61
    Koepka 20
    Noren 8
    Rahm 21
    Na 46
    Tanihara 54
    Fisher 47
    Leishman 28
    Kjeldsen 62
    DJ 1

DK seems to think the same with the $5 150 max.

Probably have to build by hand too since no lineup builders will be built to not put multiple guys from a group on the same team.

I hope not but I foresee overlay as they will need to put in 45k entries each day to get a full contest. Yes, you will have to build by hand which is no problem for me as that’s what I do. Do you see that being an issue for the people who typically max out?

In addition you can’t make a lineup until after groupings are determined later in the evening on Monday.

Match play is very much an “any given sunday” type thing. Looking at last year:
    Haas finished 3rd (ranked 42nd
    Tanihara finished 4th (ranked 54th)
Kjeldson made it to the QF (62nd)
    Fisher to QF (47th)
and low ranked guys like McGirt, CHIII and ZJ all made the round of 16

Granted many guys have only played 1 of the 2 years but by my count DJ is the only guy to even make the final 16 both years.

I predict they are similar to the Euro contests they put up as far as size and prize winnings. Perhaps slightly larger.

I’m spending the next 2 days on Match Play and expect to be locked in Tuesday night then I’ll have a full day to do Corales research. Excited to see some of the no-names and young pros at that event I can play for $7K down. Will definitely have a few $45K lineups as this will be like Puerto Rico Open fields and results from past 2 years.

  • Kp24

TO your point Cooper, I can envision some percentage of the 95 thousand in the big $5 100k contest to simply pick names and not even look at the groupings. Picking 3 guys in the same group is just shooting yourself in the foot

So what happens when someone concedes? You get a win and 18× 1.6 for holes not played ?
And then also 7.5 for not losing a hole?

There were quite a few conceded matches last year. More than I would expect to happen this year but that’s a Pretty big benefit if you could predict them.
