I would like to understand how and why Rotogrinders continues to do business with FanDuel. By doing so you are complicit.

    The facts :

Consistent outages averaging almost one per week for over a year

Zero explanation for what happened and what was fixed, including a plan of action to prevent this from happening daily

While they said today that their stat provider is down – why can’t they show ownership on players? This is THEIR platform.

How do we know there is any transparency and lineups aren’t being altered?

How do we know hacks aren’t occurring to improve lineups in game?

Why is the community Ok with this?

    There are options:

    1) Mass chargebacks – hit them in wallet

    2) Demand transparency and pressure state AG office to create regulation that makes showing ownership mandatory at start times.

    3) Demand better from Rotogrinders. Where is the FanDuel management team ? Get them on here now to answer these questions.

They are hiding and need to be exposed.

Get Matt King CEO on here now

I could see ownership yesterday and all my contest because yesterday when I checked on shaheen it was .1%

I’m not upset at you at all, I just don’t think it’s productive to bend the truth to attempt to make your argument better when the flat out truth is more than compelling enough. I stated that ownership %s were viewable since yesterday afternoon/evening – if that wasn’t the case for you, that sucks. I didn’t even bother checking until the evening as I knew from the blurbs they put out before the morning games started that there were going to be issues with stats. The issue I have is you somehow turning that into another “breaking story” where some people had an unfair advantage when that wasn’t even remotely the case. I took issue with your original post because you were flat out making some stuff up to make your point sound better.

I am not making anything up. I am saying that at no point Sunday could I see NFL ownership %‘s. A lot of people had the same (check Twitter) ocur to them. You and otherrs might have had a different experience but I can promise you that is the truth. So on that fact alone, you don’t think it’s an unfair edge or advantage if some users see ownership and others do? That obviously helps make an intelligent late swap decision. I chose to do nothing because I assumed the whole website was not showing this. It’s not breaking news (btw I work in media so it could be how I speak) – but it will be if they don’t refund people in full. Giving $100 credit when I had $5000 in play is not acceptable.

Wait some people were able to see ownership???

I just checked back to see what time I posted in discord yesterday and it was around 930 pm when I posted shaheen percentage. I dont know what time I was actually able to see it.

It amazes me, that people will play on a site they think is corrupt or doing something shady….and that a business model, that makes money regardless of the outcome of the contest (aka rake) would risk that entire business model by being shady. More likely? Technical issues and nothing shady.

Regarding ownership, as I already stated, the percentages were available in the evening (hours after every single game was locked) when I checked – not when it could have provided anyone an advantage. I’m not arguing whether or not you specifically were able to see the percentages.

What I was referring to as far as making things up were:

Consistent outages averaging almost one per week for over a year – patently false and hugely overstated.

Zero explanation for what happened and what was fixed, including a plan of action to prevent this from happening daily – they can’t offer an explanation or a plan of action until they’ve actually identified the issue and corrected it (which you don’t seem to want to give them any amount of time to do)

While they said today that their stat provider is down – why can’t they show ownership on players? This is THEIR platform. – as I stated they did display ownership percentages as of yesterday evening (was not aware at the time that this wasn’t true across the board (also wondering if it’s because I was on the android app and others were on iphone/desktop))

I think what is happening is bad enough and deserves attention. I just believe that you’re taking away from your own argument by including these kinds of things in here that didn’t need to be.

Just curious, how was anyone able to see ownership % on FD? I couldn’t see any ownership till today. And screenshot lineups and time showing no ownership % all through yesterday and late last night. As of 4:45 am this morning I was still unable to see % owned.

Any solid information on the number of Shaheen owners?

You mean like by allowing multiple users (paging Chipotle Addict) or employees (Ethan)? What was amazing then when that happened? Or when public pressure forced their hand on Jade the Bachelorette posting about their multi account use. Realize this was also on DK, but what has either site shown that would consider them free from this sort of shady behavior. It’s in their DNA and we have seen it for years.

Had Shaheen in 3 lineups. Curious if it’s anything to get excited about prize wise or likely just $20-$30. Saw today he was

It amazes me that people defend a site that clearly had technical issues. A site that knew it was going to affect their NFL product, but kept the information quiet while people put millions of dollars into their games.

  • gridironguru99

Amazing you’d say that when your salary and company (RG) makes $ from Fanduel. I’m sure that’s not a conflict.

  • thorpedoboom

I don’t think fanduel is shady. I don’t even care that much that their scoring was down for over a day for nfl. It does suck that the scoring was down for the entire day. I now play for entertainment and part of that entertainment is being able to check the scores or alter my lineups which I was not able to do. I can’t control FanDuel’s sometimes bad service and poor communication about any service issues. I also don’t play in the thousands of dollars of volume anymore each weekend like I did a few years ago. So I do understand the people who do play more and are pissed about the situation. If it pisses you off that much, I personally would just stop playing on fanduel and just move on. If enough people stop playing on fanduel , then they will hopefully correct any occasional service issues or go out of business. Most people who play on fanduel it’s just that entertainment. They did not provide that entertainment yesterday I paid for and did a poor job with no detailed updates or getting the problem fixed in a timely matter. Life goes on and I have other responsibilities that are more important anyway. The situation sucked but I also don’t have to play on fanduel if I don’t want to either.

Earlier tonight when I checked it was someone else.

gridiron – RG has nothing to do with Fanduel’s problems. Two seperate companies. Plain and simple.

But when I checked earlier tonight a different user won a million dollars. When I checked 15 minutes ago, lockout won the million.

I think the first go-around earlier tonight, Claypool was not accounted for.

So why are you still playing? Or since you clearly aren’t playing because of “all this corrpution” you see, why are you posting on a site solely devoted to DFS? I’m so confused by what guides you.

That is a great question – I had been playing 5-6 figures a week back in 2018-2019 and had stopped playing at DK after several disputes related to the above and decided to close my account with them permanently. I was new to FD about 12 mo. ago and really enjoyed their platform and the format – the reality is my play is down considerably but I really enjoy DFS and creating lineups. I am altruistic guy and want to see this format and industry work, but its just so darn close to a mob/insider business with no transparency and I’m hoping a little PR snafu or two will help change the narrative. I realize that is a long shot and you’re right, the best choice is to simply stop playing , which it’s starting to come down to. Hope that makes sense.

We can all say RG isn’t involved but they really should be – they’re making $ off the rake of every contest with FD and sell products that include FD packages. At the very least they have an opportunity to help the user base better advocate for change. having DK become a monopoly won’t help either. Perhaps Barstool will enter the DFS space – they have the bankroll, user base and are part of Penn National. It would make sense.

Back on topic, FD still hasn’t replied to my request of a full refund for Saturday and Sundays football debacle.

Why are you demanding anything? You really don’t have any pull to do that and RG doesn’t owe you anything. This is just an inconvenience and isn’t costing you a dime. When the stat providers data is fixed the winning lineups will be paid. Just cause you can’t see your current scores doesn’t mean there is a big conspiracy, it does FD no good to do this on purpose.

Just speak with your wallet and don’t play if it makes you that upset.

  • Papas1175

I couldn’t see ownership on FD on Sunday. He’s right if it isn’t posted at the start of the games, it should be refunded. Your paying for a service and that service wasn’t provided. It’s just wrong

Can’t figure out why they didn’t or don’t refund the college slate….I mean this is beyond weird. Over a couple hundred tied up and all entries showing 0s still.

  • Codyveo

I still don’t fully understand why people think we should get full refunds for Sunday. It sucked majorly not seeing live scoring, but late swap was still there, sure you couldn’t see ownership of the early games, but it was easy to know who on the late games would be owned heavily. I mean I guess I could see wanting some type of small credit for the hassle but other than not knowing you won until Monday, it was business as usual for me. Not a popular thought but that’s my .02.

I prefers FD’s set up of contests versus DK but DK’s customer service blows FD out of the water. Dk usually gets back to me within 30-60 minutes. FD is 5-14 days.

I don’t really understand blaming RotoGrinders for a third-party stat provider outage on FanDuel. I understand you are saying you want RotoGrinders to hold FanDuel accountable, but wouldn’t it make more sense for the actual consumers of the product to do that?

I gotta say, I mostly agree with @gridironguru99 … Look, does anybody blame RotoGrinders for a “major service disruption” to any company that ISN’T named RotoGrinders? No.

But you also don’t have to be a crazy person to be annoyed by below-average transparency from a digital platform that has some of your money, personal info, and is experiencing a significant outage/disruption… I mean, what do you think the cause of the outage is? Is it because some intern tripped over a surge protector in Opta’s office? Because a couple of servers went down? I’m not a doctor, but I don’t think 2-day disruptions happen because somebody spilled Pepsi on the boss’s hard drive, or accidentally put the wrong desktop folder in the Trash.

Therefore, it’s probably not ridiculous to entertain the possibility that an outage like this could be the result of, say, a breach of some kind? Maybe not, but in the event that a breach were the cause, demanding (or at least asking for) some transparency into how FD customers might be affected… doesn’t seem that crazy.

Plus, if it’s not a breach and is just some sort of large-scale technical crapping-of-the-bed on Opta’s part, it’s also probably not unreasonable for an FD customer to think, “Huh, I mean, I understand accidents happen, FD, but maybe you should work with better data service providers, who own more than a single, sad solitary server, and don’t back up all of that data on a fax machine”… right!?!?

Ok, so what should we do? Well, we could just do what @bhdevault so cutely suggests above… individual FD customers can just go ahead and ask questions or complain via automated FD support tickets. Yay! Hey, we might even get a response, an apology, the company line, or even a “don’t worry, it’ll be back up sometime in the next 1-500 hour(s), we promise!”

That’s all super meaningful and helpful, to be sure. Just like it is to point out that, hey, we’re all consumers here, and we can show our dissatisfaction with the company’s product and customer service…with our feet! Yeah, we could take all our money out of FD and go somewhere else! Thankfully, with such a healthy array of highly-established, scaled, multi-platform and trustworthy DFS operators like FD and DK, there are SO many places we could go. SO, so many.

But, WAIT. Hold the phone…what if we like FD? What if we don’t want to leave— we just want it not to suck?

    Here’s where RG comes in…wait for it…

Imagine a world where DFS enthusiasts and FD customers might be able to turn to some kind of independent, third-party resource… maybe even an outlet that specializes in (or is even an authority on) DF news, info and analysis …that covers these various DFS platforms daily, works closely with them, and maybe even partners with them…

Theoretically, in this alternate universe, that kind of resource might have sources at FD or DK of whom they could ask questions — maybe even get the inside scoop on what’s happening… or at the very least just use their size/standing/megaphone to apply some leverage and/or to obtain the kind of answers an individual FD customer might not be able to get…

…then their writers/experts could report on it, or write about it, or podcast about it, all on their large digital content platform… and then FD customers would know what’s going on, and they’d love that platform, and tell their friends about it, and even pay to use it…and they wouldn’t have to yell into the empty well that is Twitter anymore…

But maybe that’s all just a massive misunderstanding of what RG is…
