Deutsche Bank – TPC Boston – Fed Ex Cup Playoffs

Final field list has 99 players – no Danny Willet
This is a cut event so low 70 & ties make it thru to the weekend

Last year a score +3 was needed to make the weekend.
74 players made it to the weekend.

    TPC Boston Par 36-35-71
3 par fives (2 on front nine – 1 on back nine #18)

Last year Rickie Fowler -15 won this event by one shot over Stenson -14 and was the only player to have All 4 Rounds Under 70. Five other players (Stenson, O’Hair, Jones, Berger and Swafford) all shot the 1st 3 rounds in the 60’s but blew the bonus in the Final Round. Only Stenson was close with a final round 70, the others shot between 73 and 76.

Stenson blew a 1 shot lead after 54 holes and still had that lead with 3 holes left but a Double Bogey on the par 3 16th after hitting it in the water gave Fowler a 2-shot swing and the lead by 1 after Rickie made par.

The 18th is a reachable par 5 at 530yds that could provide another exciting finish.

REMEMBER – this is a Friday to Monday event so no golf on Thursday and make sure you get you entries reserved as I’m sure most GPP’s in this event (the last one with a cut) will fill 12-24 hours before lock.

I am kinda frustrated that I built my lineup without looking at any articles / touts, based solely on the stats/history/form that I liked and 3-4 of my 6 guys are getting heavily touted now that I am reading articles after the fact. Obviously this means that other people are looking at similar information and coming to similar conclusions which is nice validation, but usually when I do things this way I come out with a bit more of unique lineup so I am just hoping I don’t end up too chalky for my own good completely by accident

I have my ticket, but it’s odd that the tournament isn’t even up yet?

I’m not complaining as like many of you said, the later the better to have less people. But, it’s very odd to issue tickets to an event that isn’t even there.

Furyk seems like the safer bet.

Watson is 18/18 no better cut rate than Watson. Watson has scored about the same as Jim lately. Bubba turned out to be my highest owned.
It really is a toss up though. I suggest pick one/both and let it ride. No wrong answers on paper at least.
I did not do this but this is where I would let stats for this course prevail between the 2.

I always runs all my data before ever looking at the first tout and Purely based on history, form, and season long stats you can spot the players that will be talked about a lot. Finding out the right ones to fade is “Playing the Game”

Realistically bubba is the luckiest player on cut day this entire season. There are 4 tournaments he shouldn’t have made the cut.

I completely agree but he still makes it. Like last tournament when cut line went to +3 only then he made it. Then goes on to be in 3 of the top ten winning LU’s. He always finds a way to do something rather than just float at the bottom cut makers.
I could not argue if he picked Furyk over Bubba. Just make your choice and dont beat yourself up over it if it turns out it was the wrong choice. Your asking for crystal ball answers and there simply is none between the two. I would like to hear who the stats people think and let that be your choice. I am not a stats person on this one at all.
No matter what Bubba will do I wont be bothered about making a wrong choice.

I’m hoping around 2000 or less. Tourney is almost here, and I’m hoping a lot of people are shifting their focus to NFL.

Are multiple people really trying to decide between Furyk and Bubba? Furyk’s last 5 here have been 4-23-27-13-6 while Bubba has been terrible in this tournament.

P.S. I just guaranteed that Bubba finishes at least 5th.

Pretty bold picks in my useless opinion.

OK made my Gold Tier picks and it was 89/unlimited. This will be crazy low participants because they do not give alerts.
They only have it quietly under My Accounts. Kinda like when you get a PM on here. Unless you look you would never know. I expect that even if they think its coming most will not keep hitting My Accounts. I bet its no more than 1100 entrants. Plus its already September and most will think that they stopped doing it, Even the Bi-monthly was opened in Sept.

  • timusbr

no mainstream media on Spieth that I have seen, were we hoodwinked? I thought it a significant issue on the golfers mental state of mind…so I cut my exposure from 40% to 18%
