Deutsche Bank – TPC Boston – Fed Ex Cup Playoffs

Final field list has 99 players – no Danny Willet
This is a cut event so low 70 & ties make it thru to the weekend

Last year a score +3 was needed to make the weekend.
74 players made it to the weekend.

    TPC Boston Par 36-35-71
3 par fives (2 on front nine – 1 on back nine #18)

Last year Rickie Fowler -15 won this event by one shot over Stenson -14 and was the only player to have All 4 Rounds Under 70. Five other players (Stenson, O’Hair, Jones, Berger and Swafford) all shot the 1st 3 rounds in the 60’s but blew the bonus in the Final Round. Only Stenson was close with a final round 70, the others shot between 73 and 76.

Stenson blew a 1 shot lead after 54 holes and still had that lead with 3 holes left but a Double Bogey on the par 3 16th after hitting it in the water gave Fowler a 2-shot swing and the lead by 1 after Rickie made par.

The 18th is a reachable par 5 at 530yds that could provide another exciting finish.

REMEMBER – this is a Friday to Monday event so no golf on Thursday and make sure you get you entries reserved as I’m sure most GPP’s in this event (the last one with a cut) will fill 12-24 hours before lock.

Hi all. Anyone care to give some plays under 7500 that they like this week?

Stricker, Kisner, McGirt and Summerhays. All top 50 in scoring average which has obviously been a key stat here in recent years.

  • walkoff9

So it looks like crazy wind the last 2 days.

Finding stats on who plays well in heavy wind is not easy.

I would be surprised if they play 4 rounds. Forecast is for rain Sunday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon.

Just posted some $5 H2H in the Lobby. Have at it!

Want guys that play well in wind, look for guys who grew up or played college golf in TX.

Or Colt Knost, wind putter extraordinaire.

Is anyone else using Adam Hadwin to stay away from the chalky punts

  • titanhawks

No; he is on my probably gonna miss the cut list

Chalk and 6/6 is essential this week I think

Haven’t checked him out yet, but I’m going to dabble in Donald and Kirk. I googled “best wind players 2016”. One of the stat sites has a ranking list. A couple of the chalk punts are way down on that list.

I’m using Hadwin this week.. Probably too much.

Luke Donald is second to last in Birdie Percentage in this field. Just sayin’. That is season long stats though so anything is possible.

Luke Donald made a serious refocus on his strengths in the last month or two. I have no shares of him this week, but think he is better than his season stats, and look for him to do well next year.

That stat is concerning (i wasn’t aware, Ty), but he played pretty well the last couple after 2 bad months. He ranks high in wind play, you never know.

Yeah that’s what I was saying, any guy can do the exact opposite of a season long trend, especially in the playoffs. I do not base anything purely on stats like that, but when it comes down to deciding between a couple of guys I tend to go with the better track record.

I kinda like Luke this week as he is not afraid to be on and/or stay near the top of the leaderboard (yah I’m looking at you chokers Chappell, Barnes, etc…) also he has had good course history here in the past and playing his best golf this year in recent memory.

Very true. I wasn’t trying to discourage playing him even though that is what it looked like. I even had Luke in my initial main lineup but came up with a better one that didn’t require his services. I owned him back at the RBC Heritage when he was the 54 hole leader and couldnt manage to hold the lead and cost me my first ever Gpp win on Sunday.

He basically said he tweaked it last week. You don’t tweak a tear. I still say he’s full of BS. Anyone that’s torn a meniscus (myself included), you don’t continue your day to day activities especially sports activities like nothing happened. No way he’s torquing that knee for months and performing the way he did at The Open with a tear.

I disagree. I have torn the meniscus in each knee and I still held up fine in sports. There were days it flared up worse but there were days that it felt pretty fine. Was always a guessing game.

that low i got Kokrak Straud Swafford and Kang, I think Kokrak and Swafford will be owned more than hadwin and rest. Kang is a good roll of the dice.

Yup I remember the RBC but at least he didn’t fade to 10th in his first real Sunday sweat in ages, just got outplayed by Grace – that was part of my rationale for playing him here as he didn’t do a full fold when in contention.

Down to a decision between Piercy, Donald, and Simpson for my last spot. Thoughts?

  • flip4flop

I have Donald and Simpson together and it makes me a little worried. I like them both but Donald a little more.

  • badtrip

This makes a lot of sense for Henrik. Try to win and get a top 5 spot, get two weeks off before two weeks on. Time to start those Stenson/Donald/Furyk stacks!!!!!!
