    Hi there,

It seems there are a lot of successful volume players (tons or max lineups in contests) in DFS. I guess the unsuccessful ones would go broke quick. I am wondering if someone new just used a good optimizer/generator and submitted max entries to each daily contest with only minor projection tweaking, would they achieve a positive outcome?

On one side, the 10% rake these DFS sites would work against that happening. On the other side, the $200million in advertising of DFS sites get a lot of uninformed entries of casual people that just pick their favorite player and the uniform colors they like best.

I signed up for an obscure optimizer that I found on google, put 20 entries for $300 on last night’s MNF, and got $450 back. Now I don’t expect that I’ll get 50% ROI every day, but am wondering if I can expect some positive ROI without much effort. My sample size will increse to 2 tonight with 33 entries on the AL Wildcard game tonight.

Short answer is no. The optimizer is really only as good as the parameters you set in place and the projections you are using when using an optimizer.

Personally, I’ve had success with an optimizer building multiple and hand building only a few.

Just do what you enjoy and have fun with it. The margins are super thin these days with the rake as high as it is.

There are two things here. First, if you built an “optimizer” that was good enough to win on a regular basis, you aren’t selling it. You are using it to win. So despite what ANYONE says, an optimizer by default will not guarantee success. Most of the optimizer sellers are doing it for one reason, to make money off DFS players. That is their secondary income (if not primary). That being said, max-entering contests does give an edge in the variance of lineups you can enter, and hitting that player no one expected. Unless you are a programmer, building 150 lineups (heck, even 20) with the variance above is next to impossible to do (by hand) on a regular basis (and still have a life) without some kind of lineup builder.
