      2019 DraftKings FFWC Finalist

A large group of DFSers are going to go down to Schneiderman’s office Friday at 8AM. We’ll be wearing #FantasyForAll shirts. Many will have signs. Lots of the Fanduel staff will be there as well.

If you live in the NY area please join us!

The idea is to get our voice heard that DFS is not this cold industry “fleecing” sports fans. It’s full of passionate players – a community of players who love to research, love to compete, and love to play this game as one of their primary hobbies.

Buying a house is gambling. Fight for your freedom. Almost everything in business is gambling. Find out who needs to be greased and let’s enjoy dfs. Give them a bit of oversight, hire a family member to lobby and let’s move on. Shneiderman could care less about the impacts of gambling and so can everyone else. Grease the wheel. Casinos can’t open without doing it, what makes fanduel any different. Everyone knows it.

At what point do people stop saying DFS isn’t gambling.

Why would you voluntarily call yourself a word that is viewed negatively in the public and associated often with the word illegal? Why would the industry not emphasize a more positive and accurate phrase such as game of skill?

If you believe as most Grinders here should that the skill part of DFS far outweighs the gamble part then why market your product with the negative wording over the positive?

Ultimately It doesn’t matter what it is called as long as it is legal under state laws. DFS can be considered both gambling AND legal under state law. Hopefully NY passes that test soon enough.

I don’t know if this will help their case but,DFS contest are not based on the result of the game/event.When you bet on the nba, nfl, mlb, nhl,Horse racing,Dog racing and Lottery, the results of your wager is purely based on the outcome of the game/event.

not when you can stack 6 guys from one team.

I agree with this statement. Better analogy with the stock market. But it is “gambling” as well. Heck, playing the stock market is a gamble or everyone would be rich.

But everyone that is smarter, has better research tools, understands advanced algorithms, has a finance degree from Harvard like myself does get rich in the stock market. Why should I be punished in DFS or the stock market because I am smarter and genetically gifted allowing me to succeed at a higher rate in these forums of competition – that is all the market or DFS a competitive forum where smarter, more equipped people prosper more than intellectual dullards and laggards of society. The recent efforts against DFS by states are wedded in the same protectionist “public health” discourse found in other mediums whereby the state is mortified that guys like me (genetically superior to 95% of my cohort) will take lots of money from simple folks. Once again, those of us that are gifted, that prepare, that do over 50 hours a week of advanced statistical research, that were better equipped than most the moment we came out of the womb get the shaft.

    haha..

Walking across the street is a gamble. Driving your car is a gamble. Not using a condom is a gamble. Life is a gamble. Let’s ban all of it. If you are smart enough, you make it through the day. Regulate, don’t hate.

PS – I moved to Washington State (not smart) and can no longer play, but i only played small and for entertainment.

To me DFS is just like the stock market. I buy shares in certain players and hope they perform. I buy stocks and hope the company performs. Though recently, I would have to say DFS has been more lucrative than the stock market.

Hell, a doctorate doesn’t exactly prove anything either.

Yes it does. It shows that i am brighter, more gifted, worked harder, and likely will contribute more to society than others. It is of course not a necessary or sufficient condition to ensure this but the cohort that I was able to study with, socialize with, and now work with is significantly higher than those groups that some dipshit shlub who went to State U, got a BA, and now sells insurance. I make more money, I drive a nicer car, my doctor went to Georgetown, I am better looking, I have more houses, etc etc largely because of the life that earning a PhD has afforded me. it proves that I am smarter and better than those do not have it. But don’t fret not everyone was destined to be Napoleon, some of you just have to understand that your genetic reality made you more suited to be the piss-boy. Now go get your bucket and let the adults carry on.

It has nothing to do with me. I live an exalted life free of most of the trivialities that plague the commoner. However, i enjoy DFS and I cogently brought up another variable here as to why the AG and other states feel the need to meddle in this industry. Yes it is about $, yes it is about control, yes it is about misunderstanding, but it is absolutely also about people who have been weened on the govermental (state or federal) teat and have come to believe that it is their DUTY (philisophically, religiously, ideologically, etc) to protect you from yourself. Whether it be smoking, motorcycle helmets, the inability of a farmer to make bacon on his land and sell it to his neighbor, homeschooling children, etc, all are tinged with the notion that some overweight minority bureaucrat or self-righteous anglo do-gooder holding public office believes that they know what is good for you, what is good for your children, what is good for you to eat, what is good for you to invest in, and what is a good way for you to play fantasy football. So back to your point, what I have brought up is very much in the wheel house of this conversation and if you cannot see that then you are just another blind member of the sheeple who has been socially engineered to think that some guy named Schnedeiman is more equipped to decide how you spend your “fun money” than you do. DFS is not about fantasy football, just as taking away the ability of a business owner to decide whether he would allow smoking in his establishment and suffer the positives or negatives from this decision from a business standpoint, or dictating to you how big your pepsi can be in NYC, or not allowing you to build a fence around your garden….take heed DFsers this is your country and you are losing it but I imagine most here do not care and/or are too stupid to comprehend their lot in life.

If there wasn’t an element of chance to DFS, then every single person on this site would be a billionaire.

    This is exactly wrong.

The fact that DFS has a large element of chance is what makes it possible to make good money at it. If it were entirely skill-based, bad players would refuse to play against good players for money, and good players would not earn much.

There is no significant element of chance in chess, which is why good DFS players earn way more than good chess players.

Degrees and licenses provide opportunities in some fields and industries that are not available to those without them.

I know plenty of MBAs, CPAs and Phds who are idiots and failures in business and life.

I’m assuming this guy is just trolling and/or looking for attention.

Is this guy serious? Genetic superiority? PhD = better looking? It ‘proves’ you’re “better”?

No way Harvard graduated someone like this

This thread has derailed, but it’s entertaining. Here are some tips for Fellowship: if you want to prank people like this, you have to be careful about your vocabulary choices. That’s what gave it away for me… you’re trying to use big words. If you look up some even bigger words and mix them in, you might catch some more people. Good effort though! “I live an exalted life free of most of the trivialities that plague the commoner” is funny!
