So Seth Yates ran 3 SB pools on twitter. Took 3 K from all different people via PayPal and Venmo and never paid out the winners. He hasn’t tweeted since Super Bowl Sunday but has been active on RG as early as yesterday. I wasn’t a victim but he just screwed 3 K from members of the DFS community and maybe some people in this very forum. He was an Active poster on RG and also wrote a few columns in the past. Anyone hear anything? The guy use to tweet everyday all day and now nothing. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Anyone think its possible he gambled away that money for pools in the past and won, so he figured he could do it again this time and it ended up burning him?

He’s in a lot of trouble and is desperate. People like that will do anything.

Maybe he used the money to post bail.

Man, you are a super optimistic person- I def don’t this Seth was at the SB either-

Seth got drunk at the SB

It’s not optimism. It’s the benefit of the doubt that certain people get while other people are considered guilty from day one

He got a 2nd DUI/DWI two days before the Super Bowl. He’s been arrested 3 times in 3 months. Seems to me like he just has mounting legal issues and costs THIS year and decided he needed the money so he kept it. Obviously just speculation but I think that would make more sense.

  • Southie777

That was my first thought, but now seeing multiple recent arrests, looks more like a downward spiral.

  • tonedefrob

So he was arrested for OVI in the morning on a Friday in November.

Then disorderly conduct at a grocery store in December two days after Christmas.

    Then another OVI in February.

What. A. Ride. He’ll have Ohio party plates in no time.

Doubtful, as Squirrel wins on a regular basis :)

yeah but it could just be an idiot savant factor, like he puts on his autist hat and turns into squirrel master… guy was completely unaware of pascals wager and thinks it’s an obscure thing nobody would know… also thought the likeliest outcome was he got detained by the FBI for his massive gambling empire

  • sgaffney

I see everyone mentioning the cost, forgive my ignorance I have thankfully never been arrested, anyone have an idea what this amount of legal trouble could end up costing someone? I mean purely financial as well, not possible prison time, job loss etc

  • mambaland

damn the pools i was in was 100 bucks a square and filled 3 of them..all cash paid by monday morning after game..know your pool person…

Well, this has helped pass time w/o real NBA today. Sure sounds like Seth is a real POS who should be banned from RG and have his PayPal shut down for fraud. But.. Heck, this stuff happens when you send money to strangers over the internet. Sucks that it happened and yeah Seth is a real POS if he just took the money and ran but.. I don’t really feel bad for anyone who lost money to him, ya did something dumb and ya lost your money. (Sending money to strangers over the internet)We should all still troll this guy until he makes right though.

This thread is straight out of 2+2 NVG and I think we need more of this here.

yes this is giving me great memories from my poker days, really tempted to fire up 2+2 and see if there’s anything out there.

The irony here is this is by far the most successful Seth has likely ever been at bringing eyeballs over here at RG – as us noobs like to call it :)

I’m lucky that the worst I ever got was a public intox in undergrad, but from what I understand a 1st DUI is thousands of dollars, and they get exponentially more expensive each one after that.

If this was actually his 3rd, 3k probably isn’t enough to cover it.

3rd is 10k+ in a lot of states.

Am I the only one that thinks these Cartoon Caricature profiles are weird AF? Particularly when you find out the guy behind the pic is an addict that’s in and out of jail.

I always thought it was well known that there are 3 kinds of people in life

    1. actual photos or nothing
    2. something to convey personality
    3. cartoon avatar to hide meth face, pockmarks or just run of the mill fugly while trying to pass as a real representation

I’m sorry this is going to come across as mean, but this is such a bad bad bad take.

Seth built a reputable name on Twitter and in the community, ran squares before, and always paid out on time without issues. He has done with for the last five years. I am in NO WAY defending the guy, but there were literally no red flags on the surface and no reason for anyone to not trust him.

Everyone got scammed, but I wouldn’t take some high-throne and call people dumb for sending him money with some edgy non-sympathetic tone. People just wanted some action and had no reason to not trust the guy. It really sucks for all the people who lost money, and I do feel bad for them, because I don’t blame you for trusting him.

    That being said fuckkkk him.

DUI you’re usually looking at at least ten grand between a lawyer and everything else. With second and third offenses obviously higher then that. It’s quite possible that with multiple DUIs and other offenses that he’s into the tens of thousands of dollars.

  • OhioUBobcats

More I think about this the sadder it is.

His life is probably over as he knows it. He seemed like a likable enough guy, got along fine with him on twitter for a long time, but who knew?
