So Seth Yates ran 3 SB pools on twitter. Took 3 K from all different people via PayPal and Venmo and never paid out the winners. He hasn’t tweeted since Super Bowl Sunday but has been active on RG as early as yesterday. I wasn’t a victim but he just screwed 3 K from members of the DFS community and maybe some people in this very forum. He was an Active poster on RG and also wrote a few columns in the past. Anyone hear anything? The guy use to tweet everyday all day and now nothing. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

    Good thread, would read again

The expression “I was born at night but I wasn’t born last night” does not apply to a lot of people, apparently.

No wonder GoFundMe scams continue to work.

These folks have a right to be cynical. I do not get why y’all think otherwise? Is “in rehab” the new “It’s ok that we collude, we give to charity” in terms of ripping off the DFS community?

Absolutely. They have every right to be cynical. Hell, I’m cynical about it. And I have no skin in this game, so it’s a lot easier for me to sit back and take the high road than if I was wronged. I’m certainly not trying to play the morality police here, I just won’t be participating in any piling on until more info is provided.

It is spectacular that this thread has positioned a bunch of pissed-off dudes who sent money to a random guy they didn’t know on the internet who then disappeared as the wise, seasoned figures in all of this, and the guy going “well who knows, let’s gather all the information before we definitively say what happened” as the naive ingenue.

They’re naive for sending money, you’re naive for blindly defending him, it’s all the same.
    Great content nonetheless

I don’t think he’s defending him, just telling people don’t assume the worst.

Good point. I’m going to wait until September 30th to play MLB DFS this season.

If you think you’ll ever have all the information in a situation like this, I’ve got a bridge for sale. You have no choice but to rely on available data, act/formulate positions accordingly, and accept some degree of likelihood that you may be wrong. Kinda like playing DFS.

Where do the available data lead you?

That poster could be telling the whole truth, or could be lying about everything. Nobody knows.

I wouldn’t say that’s true. Usually people that are lying are murky with verifiable details. Usually people that are telling the truth go out of their way to provide an abundance of verifiable details, especially when they know they are in the wrong.

“I’m a friend that dropped him off at rehab” is a lie unless we are provided with:

    1) How that went down- was the guy at Seth’s house already? Did Seth call him? Was Seth at his house? What time of day was it? Was it Maroon 5 that caused all of this? Jared Goff? What was the last straw/catalyst that caused this decision?

    2) Where is Seth now? If you dropped him off at rehab, you know this. Rehab is a place, not a vague existential concept. If all of this is true, and Seth really wanted everyone to get their money, he would have waived his privacy and allowed the rehab center to confirm his whereabouts. So the poster could have left the contact information of the rehab center where he dropped him off and this could easily be verified. But instead we are left with no way to verify the claim. Which means this is a lie.

    3) What about the money? If a person intends to make good on a debt, again, there are specifics. I will pay X amount by Y date, I’m sorry I can’t do more, but you can count on that. If they don’t, there are vague promises with uncertain timetables and no accountability for non-payment. So again, this is very much a lie.

A few ppl on Twitter have stated he’s dealt with mental health issues. let’s hope he’s safe first. the same thing happened with Gup’s OAD pool and he eventually surfaced and paid everyone.

I know this is bad, but damn that Maroon 5 line made me laugh out loud…. That being said, rehab good. Mental health problems bad. Dealing with issues good. A “friend” using the term RG like an old pro bad. Believing everything on the Internet good. I mean bad. I mean…… I don’t know.

am i reading this right that people sent someone they have never met money and are now outraged that they cant get it back? these must be the same people that fall for the nigerian prince emails.

Having interacted with Seth I hope he is okay. For those people piling on what if that is really Seth’s friend and Seth really is in rehab. I don’t see what is gained by writing some post about how needs to rot in hell for not paying 3k back in 2 weeks, if you are upset about this maybe take a step back from max entering the quarter arcade

He also entered the ‘NBA 50K AND-ONE’ on DK yesterday. It’s there for all to see (and on Twitter, now).

Thankfully, it didn’t take long to ultimately expose this nonsense for what it is.

Good point, your post trolling people telling them not to max enter the quarter arcade to make up for having money stolen from them is so very helpful.
