      2015 DraftKings FFWC Finalist

Matt Kalish, DK CoFounder and CRO, has agreed to do an interview with Dan next Friday at 2 ET. The interview will be focused entirely on Community Guidelines and Compliace: questions, clarifications, and discussing suggestions for improvement.

I appreciate Matt’s willingness to do this. He won’t be able to comment on specific screen names or investigations. He will be able to clarify what is/is not allowed in general and discuss ideas for improvements.

As the ChipotleAddict/Papagates issue continues to prove the community is divided, and often confused, this kind of transparency and face time should be incredibly helpful. DraftKings creating the Community Guidelines and their Compliance department was a huge first step in addressing various issues. I know they care greatly about these issues. I also understand these issues are very complex. Getting more involved with the DFS community on these matters will only make for better Guidelines and a more informed player base.

    Some Notes:
    1. Be constructive
    2. Either ask questions to clarify the current guidelines or suggest improvements to the guidelines. We’re hoping to keep this very focused.
    3. Remember that DK can’t address specific screen names. Ask questions about scenarios not tied to screen names or specific tournaments to get the information you want.

Thanks Dan and Matt. Tough crowd, groupthink on overload. I appreciated the term “living document,” gives a little more comfort to the situation. Also, always nice to have your voice heard

There should be a threshold of profit made at a certain stakes during a certain time frame that prevents you from playing that stake until your profit dips below a certain threshold at stakes $0.25-$5

You do realize this would exclude you from such events that you’re currently playing in?… well as of yesterday anyway. I’m not trying to be a dick, more of devil’s advocate… I don’t think those are realistic “badge” requirements… 100K lifetime earnings and I can’t play in $1 contest?… This leaves no room for testing strats w/o feeling MAX pain.

If they barred me and everyone who’s made more than me from $3 and under, or $5 and under I’d be fine with it. I mean it would suck being the exact cutoff, but whatever. I don’t really think a low stakes grinder like me is much of a problem anyway. I’m actually grinding the low stakes trying to build a bankroll so I don’t need to max enter the $3’s and $5’s any more.

Lol, yeah that’s the point I was getting at. It seems I fall under that same threshold as well, where I may be the one getting banned from these contests (hence the passion on the subject). I can assure you, it’s not you and I interfering with the ecosystem at all. This issue kind of sucks as it’s near impossible to come up with an equitable solution for all parties. The solution cannot limit total entries for any particular slate (this would force large volume players to prioritize contests), you cannot take any contest or entries currently in place away, and the root issue is near impossible to police in the short term.

Negative Nancy aside, I think the best solution for everyone is to offer more limited entry contests at all levels. Now scoop some dollars and give your mother’s hugs! For the others, look up, smile, and say thanks for everything. Also, don’t forget: If you can answer yes to one or both of these questions, I think you’re doing just fine. . .

    1. Are you making money?
    2. Are you having FUN

This interview was honestly a waste of time. Matt danced around every question and Dan did not push him just nodded his head. The one thing I found interesting was “if its only one day” with working with somebody you know. So clearly there is nothing stopping anyone from teaming up because Draftkings does not police it. Bunch of grey and nothing black and white. Avoided the biggest question of them all to give an example of what syndicate play looks like. Yeah lets say what its not. GREAT. yup. keep pushing it off its going to catch up to you one day.

LOGIC POLICE: Is it a good idea to present the community (some sharp dudes) with a bunch of different ways to gain edges? By highlighting what it’s not, they’re intentionally painting a picture as to what type of thinking and strategy would be crossing the line and breaking the spirit of the game. Ambiguous language was to be expect, read a contract sometime

I think people have to realize is this is big money business it is not a small stakes yahoo or cbs friends league. people are banking on making money by any means they can within the legal limits or limits enforced.. it has really outgrown the customers who make dfs what it was when it started and that has caused hurt feelings.

When you know you have no chance in a gpp vs guys with 150 lineups and the vig is 15 percent what really are you trying to do?

Let the big dogs bark it will only get bigger. Also i never know if all the h2h entries posted by sharks and syndicate team mates get matched vs each other or get taken off board by CS? Why would they risk playing fellow syndicate members with same teams?

Yeah it was a kind of go through the motions and get it over with and say we did it type of interview. Nothing to be gained that we didn’t already know, just reassurance that something is being done without any actual evidence of anything being done.

Another vote for this being an interview that really didn’t say or answer much. While Dan has always been fun to listen to, you also had to know that he wasn’t going to grill Kalish and his “pet project” of integrity at DK. His, and all of RG’s livelihood, relies on solid relationships with the main players in the business. While it would have been great to see Dan fire back a little bit, it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to know this was going to be one of the softest interviews of all time.

I agree with the others that this seemed to be a “check the box” exercise that accomplished that…and only that.

I really wish you had asked him why they allow a person to win 5 seats in the live final. That’s ridiculous. It should be one seat per person, at most, 2 or 3. But 5?? Ridiculous. This is an amazing opportunity and as many people should be able to enjoy it as possible. Also the buy-in levels are severely slanted towards the high dollar players, which is a joke.

Unfortunately I have to agree with the others that I do not think I learned anything new from this interview on the Community Guidelines and very little was clarified. Matt basically danced around the questions, but that is pretty much what I expected.

The only positive I heard come out of the interview is that they will be putting into place some type of limiter for higher volume players entering low stakes non-guaranteed games (before football season). I am not a cash game player but I think this is needed. Now lets wait and see how it’s done…

Optimizers aren’t magic. Most optimizers are trash. Show me one optimizer that can produce winning lineups on a daily basis. Moreover, 99% of the lineup sellers are trash too. Looking for an easy buck. The pro’s don’t sell lineups. They collude together and then sell you players they aren’t playing.

Dan asked the right questions, Matt Kalish decided not to answer them. After listening to the interview I lean less towards the DK/FD execs maliciously acting and simply being incompetent…I honestly don’t think Kalish even reviewed the actions and data (if there is any) of this so called game integrity group. But hey he loves talking about this group!!!! (even if he can’t say anything specific about them)

I didn’t listen to this as I was working, but, based on the feedback I’m seeing, is it safe to say that nothing will come out of the interview? Or was there anything worthwhile that he said?

I don’t play cash either but that would be great for the industry. Hopefully they come through on that one.

I agree completely, Not bashing the interview however it came across as nothing more than a smoke and mirror type of thing.
No details on how to solve issues that the dfs community voiced about.
Sounds very clear that Matt doesn’t want to cause waves to his top players.

If DFS were to be under the regulations that the casino industry has…who knows maybe DK/FD would have more weight to be trusted.

    Just listened.

Damn, Dan really grills him and Matt hits all of the important topics with in-depth answers and solves all the questions people are looking for. Thanks for setting this up Cal, some really Earth shattering stuff. I look forward to all of the “substantive changes” to the Community Guidelines. The best are the comments about “taking action quickly”… uh… these have been issues for well over a year, you’re not taking any actions quickly.

He wants the people to trust the Integrity Team completely. Too funny.

Pretty much always has been that way and will continue to be that way. PEONS not apply
