Decided to play NHL a lil’ late tonight. Logged on hour before lock and joined some of the contests that were left.
Starting building, went back to the lobby, and there were a TON of new guaranteed contests in the lobby.
Joined them all. Put qtr the max into the Hip Check (4.5k), joined all the SE dbl ups, built my cards for the night, was really content.
With less than 15min left all my new contests were gone from the lobby. All the fees were refunded. My cards in the lineups page were deleted. Player exposure was completely out the window (had only two goalies instead of six), I basically had to completely rebuild the cards I had left with only 10min before lock and try to find some viable dbl up’s to join (there were none).

I, along with a few others, wrote DK support and were all told our contests didn’t fill so they were refunded. I should mention it’s greatly concerning that we were all told the same incorrect statement, but that’s not really the point. After some resistance I was told that they removed contests that were incorrectly posted.

Firstly, is this even allowed? To be clear, they were guaranteed contests with hundreds of entrants and were deleted with minutes left.
There has to be some sort of rules around this. I get it was a mistake, but what’s to stop them from “mistakenly deleting” other contests, for example, an over-layed contest?

Not to mention, secondly, I’m not very good at DFS, so I can only imagine how this would have hurt someone with twice, if not more the LU’s I played. The LU’s were deleted, is that also allowed? This altered my exposure in a way that I had to spend the rest of the night fixing what I had, and I still have a card x3 in the $.50 150 tonight. If that screwed me, people must have really been done over if they were any kind of a DFS player.

Which leads me to my third point, this happened (to my knowledge) exclusively to >$5 contests, meaning anybody is a somebody couldn’t have entered anyway. So, the people this actually hurt don’t really matter, and I’m concerned about if DK are getting away with something over this, or have been to vulnerable players who have no voice.

Anyway, long story short, is this even allowed?

I thought once a guaranteed contest was posted it has to stay posted? Between the bachelor, us losing all our money for a bit this weekend and now more shady stuff its getting worse and worse. DK is doing everything in its power to tank here.

  • bigez952

FanDuel has done this a bunch in the past. I think deep in the terms they are allowed to remove any contest at any time but it rarely happens as it is a bad look.

  • wolfjb1

of course it’s allowed. DK can do whatever they want. We all know their “rules” are flexible. That said, as others have commented, it’s a really bad look, it’s disingenuous and it’s discouraging. If you guarantee a contest you should run the damn contest.

I think they are allowed to remove any contest that isn’t full, or near full.

If true, no contest should ever be named or considered “guaranteed”. The very definition of the word shouldn’t allow for the cancellation of those contests posted as guaranteed.

  • yisman

    this is not that unusual

FD deleted a whole bunch of contests that were listed as guaranteed earlier this season.

As they say the only things guaranteed in life are death and taxes. There is always an out clause in every contract/ terms that includes guarantees. DFS is no different and they have the fine print to protect themselves if contests get posted by mistake.

From what I understand, they mistakenly posted the next day’s contests under the current slate. If that is the case, it was an obvious, bad mistake. Nothing nefarious. Nothing seedy. Nothing designed to screw anyone out of any money.

Would you run to Best Buy and demand they honor a newspaper misprint for a $1.99 TV instead of $199? Of course not.

    I’ve already moved on………

That checks out. I havent seen anything from DK about it – I could have missed it but DK isnt usually that transparent which is probably the root of most users concerns.

I apologize for not reading your entire POST ——

BUT FANDUEL never would do such a thing — i remember the good old days of ACCIDENTAL $1 BUNTS (huge single entry) in MLB…sounds DK fishy as per usual…. ..on FD it’s happened in most of the sports, i know NBA and 100% MLB — they don’t hit the right button or date — and EXTRA – not meant to be GONE LIVEGPPs or double ups, etc…are posted

    Savvy players shouldn’t be penalized..

About an hour before the start time of Monday’s NHL slate, we posted contests intended for Tuesday evening’s NHL slate. Instead, the contests were associated with a Monday evening start time. The issue was addressed immediately and each affected contest was removed & reposted with the correct Tuesday evening start time within 45 minutes of the initial posting. All users affected were notified and their entry fees refunded to their accounts.

This is a bald faced lie! All users were not notified. DK cancelled guaranteed contests; shouldn’t happen, but it did. Mistakes happen; can deal with that – and forgive errors. But when DK consistently lies about issues, and attempts to pass the blame (which is rightfully their’s) to customers, it is unconscionable. Contacting DK, regarding entered contests that disappeared, I was told the contest was cancelled because it did not fill (LIES!), next time enter guaranteed contests (exactly what I did do). Again, mistakes happen; c’est la vie. Lie to me, and try to pass blame for your issues to me – BULLSHIT!!!

  • DFSx42

They did this with some showdown golf stuff that was guaranteed but nowhere close to filling

    Super shady, boycott dk

  • mambaland

if you look back they once deleted a bunch that were already running for about 20 min for nba GPP….i am sure you can find it in history or somewhere..they contacted csuram and decided to give back double entry fee as compensaton…seems fair unless you were winning it or had a chance of cashing and if i am not mistaken they did not come near filling so most everyone would have won nice money…
