Forgive me if there is an active topic on this already. Just curious if anyone has insight on if the flash bonuses change from week to week or if this is another squeeze on budget by DK.

On 10/29 I entered a FLASH BONUS $50 NBA DOUBLE UP and won $100. In that contest, 70 of the 110 participants won something (1-50 $100, 51-70 a NBA $1M MEGA Bird Ticket). So you had roughly a 64% chance of some sort of payout from this contest.

Today, the same contest is paying out 50 of 110 participants and simply adding 2 NBA $1.25M High Flyer Ticket to the 1st and 2nd place winners. Percentage of winnings plummeted to a lowly 46% chance. I believe last week’s was similar in that tickets were added to players who already would win (1st place, 2nd place, etc) and not on the back-end to those who just miss the double-up cut.

My intention (yet) isn’t to slam DK because for all I know this fluctuation pattern has been going on since the flash bonuses were introduced. I’d appreciate someone to verify that if they can.

I can’t verify because I don’t often play these contests, but it seems to me that the benefit of switching the focus of your rewards/bonus program from a fixed amount of FPP per dollar spent to freerolls and supplemental prizes for existing contests is that you aren’t locked in on the amount you give back, and can tweak it on those occasions where you want to give back less.

Why would you slam DK for giving away things? In the former they give away a bunch of cheaper tickets, in the latter they give away two expensive ones. Adjust your strategy, don’t whine about free stuff.

Thanks for dickhead reply, Maverick. Keep in mind, this “free stuff” happens once a week in comparison to the old points system that was much more lucrative. Yay, I should get on me knees and be eternally grateful.

I love how it’s always the Top 100 guys who scold us for not kneeling at the DK altar, and lecture us on how to “get better” or “change your strategy”. Blowhard.

I don’t see how anyone could possibly think that this move was related to DK squeezing their budget. They are actually giving away a greater $ value in tickets under this new structure. 2*400>20*33.

  • badlands92

I didnt realize how large the tickets are. So 1st and 2nd should win those and then 3-52 win $100.

Based on the rather bitchy responses, I guess I’m alone in wishing the flash contests would allow for greater amounts of payouts (more participants “winning”) instead of doubling up a few winning payouts.

I did a poor job of iterating my point. Not to mention, literally asking a question is considered whining.

These change week to week. Also, within a single day of them you’ll find some DON’s that use tickets to extend the amount of players paid, and others that add them to the top 10 or less as a finishing bonus.

They used to even make GPP style flash games and I haven’t seen them in a while now which kind of sucks because I’m not always in to DON’s.

The absolute must play, which used to stay open a lot longer and now fills really fast, is the $5 “everybody wins” DON. Pays every player at least a $3 ticket and lately $4 tickets. Plays as a regular DON for the top 45% or so. So it’s like a dollar for a good shot to win $5

Thanks for the reply! I agree, the Everybody Wins contest is must play. It does fill quickly, but I’ve managed to enter the last 4 or 5 weeks.

Ah, yeah, now I remember why I didn’t join the NFL one… not really looking for an NBA ticket.
