This is what this means. Matt Kalish alluded to this change in the interview he did with Dan Back in June. Kudos to DK for taking action. I’d love to see Fanduel do something similar.

  • texasrangersfan

No, but now you get to play against their wives and girlfriends.

good move by draft kings to limit the sharks entering small tournaments

Just got this reply from DK regarding H2H games, looks like to applies to H2H’s, but not leagues: (I asked if players with a lifetime of $1 million are allowed to post H2H’s in the $5 lobby…asked about $5 leagues too).

    “Good Morning,

Thanks for reaching out to us today!

We are always looking for ways to create the most dynamic Daily Fantasy Sports platform and we love when we get suggestions such as these which will enhance the user experience.

If you have any suggestions, please contact us at any time and your feedback will be heard when we review our product, which is constantly!

For head-to-head contests a player with $1 Million in lifetime entry fees cannot post games in the $5 Lobby. In regards to Leagues, this does not apply.

Please let us know if you have any other questions pertaining to this!”

  • salarycapfantasy

And or is it OR… sorry, programmer… but does this mean that they can’t join under $5 no matter the prize pool OR also can’t join any prize pool under $25K, such as $100 entry contests that have a prize pool less than $25K.

Can they enter in a $5 entry that has a prize pool of $50K for example?

Yes, it’s $5 or less buy-in AND a prize pool less than $25K.

You’ll still be seeing their 20 lineups in the four seamer everyday so long as the prize pool is $25K or higher.

  • stephenly

Do we have any clue how many people this would impact?

For example you’d have to average like $2700 in entry fees for 365 days straight to hit a million.

The way it reads is “restrict players with over $1 million in lifetime entry fees from entering any contest that has both a buy-in of under $5 and a prize pool of less than $25,000.”

So it would restrict them from any $4 and under contest with a prize pool less than $25k.

I think it is a good a move by DraftKings. Not sure if the $1 million in lifetime entry fees makes sense though going forward. I would think it should be a rolling average. Good starting point though.

Doesn’t look like it’s taken effect yet. Just saw chipotle in the $3 H2H lobby.

it is lifetime not just the past year, so a lot of the high stakes guys who have been around longer than a year it will affect. I think overall this is going to be a decent thing but it isn’t like GPP’s are going to magically become easier to win

This was a great move on the part of DraftKings. They recognize the future of DFS and the value of creating a comfortable environment for players of all levels. Kudos.

Not sure this is as much of an issue on Fanduel with their 500 entries less than $10 max per slate. Tonight if you max out the squeezes you are left with 50 entries in other low dollar contests.

  • mccoolio

So they removed the sharks from those type of games, but also lowered the max entry limit on those contests? I don’t understand…Almost cancels each other out IMO

  • bigez952

I would be interested to know exactly how many users hit this $1,000,000+ lifetime entries mark? Draftkings has only been around for 7 years so if you played from the very beginning you would have to average around $3000 per week to hit that mark. I know it would take me 10 lifetimes to hit $1,000,000+.

  • qsczserrrr010

So these changes apply to NFL only?

  • coachspitz

so I guess the new multi entry limit means no more massive $3 Milly Maker to start off the NFL season?

    Why not?

    It’s $5 and under 25k prize oool.
