Just got an e-mail about this. Also giving players multiple position eligibility.

Breaking apart slates would make their product absolutely unplayable.
i guess you better retire Anthony Davis and the Spurs too
Well put
I haven’t read the thread yet….This is GREAT news for Yahoo!
Regarding change #2. All lineup selections will lock at the start of the contest (i.e. you will no longer be able to swap players after contest lock).
If I am reading this right it looks like late contests can’t have swaps???
This kinda sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where are you taking your money to? FD and DK are the only sites that have the massive GPPs and now they are both identical.

They already do it: tonight they’re running a two-game turbo at 8, and another at 10:30. NHL also has three slates even though all the games start within 90 minutes of each other. NFL has eight different slates up.
I think the problem they have is that players prefer the full slates (as evidenced by how small the turbo gpps are), but revenues are maximized if they can get everyone into the turbos.
Probably because casual players with “no time” to monitor news make up the majority of there customer base. Every person who has commented on this thread could never play on DK again and it wouldn’t register as a blip on their radar.
The guy who throws a lineup together on lunch, double checks it while at a red light on his phone on the way home from work then has dinner with his family outnumber guys like you 500-1.
Don’t underestimate the amount of people on the east coast who just can’t/ don’t want to stay up until 10:29 to make sure their guys are in the lineup. MAny, many people are either in bed by then or doing other things like getting ready for bed, banging their wife, etc…
I think it’s a great idea. Not everyone has the time/desire to check for updates throughout the night. Some people have families/jobs etc.. Sure it sucks when you start a guy that ends up not playing, but that will also benefit you on some nights when other owners lose players after lock.
I know many grinders won’t like it, but for the “average” player this is great news. Thanks DK
I like this actually. Had a lot more success on FD then on DK with NBA. Allows me to get more exposure to NBA
People are just venting right now. They’re huffing and puffing but everyone here will be submitting NBA LUs in two weeks, per usual.
Or 2 minutes lol
So are you going to deposit on another site that doesn’t have late swap?
They do, or they used to. I started at DK just playing some freerolls to see what it was like, and that weekend I got an e-mail inviting me to enter free into a gpp they hadn’t been able to fill. (They didn’t put it that way, but they had an overlay and I guess they figured it’s better to use it as a marketing tool than to lose it.)
It worked; the money I won turned into my bankroll. Or it didn’t work, because I never actually deposited. Depends on your point of view—if you think they make money on volume it worked, if you think they make money on deposits it didn’t.
But it was free money given to a casual player, that’s for sure.

They’ve always offered a full slate option along with turbos, so I’m not talking about that.
I mean if they were to truly break their full slate contests into early/late slates, that would be just atrocious.
Yeah ok LOL…so only going to play Cash in split slates. Only main slate you can play now is GPP. Adjust and adapt I guess.
I have a feeling a lot of slates are going to boil down to a Demarcus Cousins playing status prediction game.
I can’t believe you all are actually sitting here trying to argue this. The ability to monitor news all night is not a skill, no matter what way you try to twist it. And more importantly, as has already been said many times over, DK knows what they’re doing. They are trying to generate as much rake and customer retention as possible. Those of you arguing that a casual player is going to stop playing because of a late scratch are so far off base. They’ll see it as “look how close I got, I would’ve won huge if only not for that one guy” and then they probably double their entries the next day with some newfound hope or confidence.
I played every single NBA slate last season and literally was only hurt by late scratches 4 or 5 times whereas knowing better than to not play someone with constant injury issues benefited me much more often when that player was scratched (that no one should have been playing anyway)
And the one big thing a lot of you seem to forget is… this is, always was and always will be meant to be a form of entertainment. This was never meant to be a way for ANY of us to make a living.
I’m sure they’ll continue to offer both. But participation in those turbo slates has been low, and they’d make more money if they could get more people into them.
That has to be the dumbest excuse I have ever seen.
If you couldn’t tell by most of the comments, no one is truly happy about this and as many have stated DK lost it’s biggest edge over FD. Expect the all day slates to have plenty of overlay as no one wants to risk a late scratch in a left coast game on a slate that starts at noon on the right coast.
No I didn’t read through all the other responses. This just pisses me off and assures I play a lot less NBA this season.
Do they? I think in a decade they’ll be a mismanagement case study in business schools.
And I’m not talking about this decision, which may or may not turn out to be a good one.
This in my opinion is all about optics. Trying to take whatever edge is left after market has been flooded with better info is simply for the politicians. There will probably be some more cosmetic changes because single entry is a favorite cause among the legal community & the big $$$ GPPs depend on the mass multi player.
This just adds to rumors of DK/FD merge.
