Just got an e-mail about this. Also giving players multiple position eligibility.

People are overstating how often late scratches of fantasy-relevant players actually occur. Something that may affect you two days out of the season is enough to make you quit?

I think the multi-position eligibility facet being introduced brings a far greater edge that late swap did.

Unless you’re playing at an excessively loose-pricing site, every player is fantasy relevant if he’s getting enough minutes. And it’s not just scratches; sometimes it’s a late coach’s decision to change his rotation or lineup. How often do you know, with certainty, the starting lineup for every team on a given night? Every night but two, really? Late announcements are the norm.

I was making some sort of late adjustment to, conservatively, at least 10% of my lineups last year (probably more, if I’d known this was ever going to be an issue maybe I’d have kept track). Every single lineup I put together I was thinking about what might possibly get announced late and making sure I’d left enough flexibility to be able to adjust to the unexpected.

That interaction is a lot of the pleasure I get out of playing, it’s why I prefer NBA and SOC to other sports and it’s certainly why I was playing at DK. I don’t enjoy just sitting back and watching it unfold.

It seems that the people defending this move are the ones that only play 1-5 lineups a night and don’t care too much if they lose $3.

I play 3-10 dollars a day and I hate this move.

    I think it’s great.

I can see why people hate seeing a zero in their lineup, but we talk all the time on RG about catering to the players who aren’t sharks. This does that.

Completely backward. It caters to the max entry, endless bankroll sharks who can take the chance on rostering the late studs who are questionable to play. It then favors the ultra casual player who dosent mind losing 10 or 15 bucks a night and reloading once a week.

The casual sharp player who takes a little time to check tweets and understands game theory are the ones to get squeezed out.

I don’t think it’s that simple. I play one or two lineups per night and never for more than $3, and this is enough to drive me to another site. Not that DK will notice or has any reason to care.

    so fucking pointless

I think it’s a great idea. Not everyone has the time/desire to check for updates throughout the night. Some people have families/jobs etc.. Sure it sucks when you start a guy that ends up not playing, but that will also benefit you on some nights when other owners lose players after lock.

I know many grinders won’t like it, but for the “average” player this is great news. Thanks DK

Please come back to this thread when your player gets late scratched and you take a 0.

What is it with you MME guys thinking that the site owes you any kind of explanation?

Uhhhhh, we’re the consumer using the product

Proves our point. The max entry guys are pissed and the 1-5 entries per night guys aren’t too happy about it either. So, who is DK trying to appease?

I am a loyal consumer that enjoys the product and the service that I pay for. Any completely unnecessary change and I expect a valid explanation to which none have been presented.

I agree with pitch. I get it , But it almost makes it unfair to those that dedicate time to the sport. I still enjoy NBA and removing late swap definitely decreases my interest and the interest of those around me. Not fair to not be able to remove a player that is out. I had Bknight everywhere and it ruined my night because of no late swap on FD. I mainly played DK for that reason but now there is no reason. Bad move

  • mccoolio

This is such bad timing, with all of the late scratches that have been going on in the preseason…If they’d have announced this after preseason it may have gone over a bit better. I mean JUST LAST NIGHT, there were several late announcements right before tips.

Product and service you pay for? The only thing we pay for are entry fees to the contests we choose.

I completely understand wanting an explanation for something that YOU don’t agree with. However, the explanation was given on page 2, just because you don’t agree with it doesn’t mean there hasn’t been one given/

I wish there as a way for “late swap” to ONLY b used for a late scratch and not strategic moves… There is nothing worse then playing a player that had no news about him and then u find out he has the flu and gets scratched for a 10:30est start. I agree the people who sit by the computer all night and determine late hammers %‘s and make moves based on that is a little nuts.. to not b able to swap a late scratch is stupid..

  • scsa1998

    How about a bench spot?

In other news, Pepsi has decided to change it’s recipe so that it taste more like Coca-Cola. A Pepsi spokesman states, “the feedback from our customers has led us to believe that they don’t need choices or have the ability to make adult decisions, also, all our new products will be Vanilla”

    mmmm, vanilla pepsi

I said a valid explanation not a public relations explanation.

As long as I am paying a rake, it is a paid service.

People who treat it like a slot pull.

The lesson they’ve probably learned from their trip through the judicial and legislative gauntlet is that no matter what anybody says, what they really want is for DFS to be more like gambling, not less. (Well, that and they want their cut from the gravy train.) Nobody should get an unfair advantage from putting more thought or research into the game.

  • yort05

Multi Position Eligibility might even be a bigger edge than late swap

  • turret

it will work better out for dk/fd when they merge…. its not about customers

  • sqwerl

This is bad. They need to go in the other direction and wait a few minutes before tipoff before lock. Late scratches happen. ALL THE TIME IN THE NBA. One 0 and bye bye moneyline. I might as well play more fanduel. There is zero benefit for this for casual players or sharks. This is terrible. Also what is up with the 4$ tourney. It was 2$ a couple years ago. They’re just getting greedy now. What a shame.

NBA late swap was one of the main reasons I was loyal to DK. May have to go free agent.

    This, exactly.

Yeah, the $4 tourney with 1.5x min cash at $6? Hot garbage

I was taught if you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all.

However I can’t help myself. This is the dumbest crap I’ve ever heard.

One of these days we will all have the same house and furnishings and drive the exact same car,and eat the same food everyday why because it’s just fairer that way. It’s sad to me they have to make DFS more “fair” while crushing the people who actually put in the work. Sounds like our government don’t it.
