Just got an e-mail about this. Also giving players multiple position eligibility.

Ironic as this was the main reason I DIDNT play on Draftkings for NBA.

I hear that. I don’t actually like late swap, but everyone is different.

  • Betterman88

This is ridiculous. DK is now no different than fanduel and it’s gonna alienate players. If you can do your research and keep up with players sitting out than maybe you shouldn’t be playing. These set and forget lineup players are not the majority. Hopefully it backfires quite quickly

Wow what a joke DK just ruined another thing for the players. Late swap was one of the main reasons people played nba at DK. It may be time to switch sites, DK doesnt do anything for the players.

  • savant111

Seems like a shameless move to increase variance and spread the money around more.

Complaining on here is not enough guys. We need to let them know how we feel about this with our wallets.

  • scsa1998

Can’t wait till people get hit with a zero because player X isn’t playing.

  • JohnnyTremz

This is horrible. There goes the edge

I would counter that with those who do the research deserve the edge.

What exactly is the research? Luckily following the right beat writer and sitting on your computer or phone 5 minutes before tip off? Thats not research, thats just seeing the right information at the right time.

This will actually be beneficial for those playing cash lineups in the turbo / late slates.

You’ll be able to get a fairly accurate estimate of the ownership percentages from the earlier slates.

  • JustDFSin

Very bad business move for DK. Most people play nba on DK because they don’t like the idea of late scratches costing you your night before it’s even started. There reasoning is that they want people to enjoy the games?? really?

  • einars

love it. this was the only reason i played on FD, will now be on DK for nba

  • jstorm23

I can about imagine the backlash this is going to have on DK.

  • reeses

Emailed support showing my disappointment in this. If everyone joins in it can’t hurt to let them know how the customers feel. This is SUCH A BAD MOVE

  • walkoff9

I really hate this, especially when there is like 1 game at 7pm and the rest 730 or later. It used to give you an extra half hour to digest the news before most games started.

  • kettlebell

The only reason I play on DK is because of the late swap. Back to FD for NBA I guess.

I responded saying “might as well just play on fanduel”

Me thinks its coming for all sports across the industry, this is only the beginning…

  • Mekong83

This is so dumb, guess I won’t be playing any full slate contest.

We know that there will be customers that are not happy with this decision. However, we have increasingly received feedback from players who have decreased their play or even stopped playing completely because they want to “actually enjoy watching the NBA.” We do see the value of late-swap and there are no plans of removing it for other sports, but for NBA specifically, it has become clear that the amount of extra time and energy required to compete as a result of late-swap functionality is taking too much away from the enjoyment of the game.

Thank you for this change. Too many hours spent monitoring news and it takes away from the fun for many many casual players.

  • Darkman33

You guys get that message about no late swaps in NBA on DK?

  • Jhelms10

Draftkings lineups lock at start of slate. Booooooo

The DK rep had a message posted earlier in one of the threads that got removed or merged together. NBA only and this was done so people can enjoy the games more vs. sitting and waiting for news to break

Also means there is a much greater chance of you losing your money because of a stupid late scratch.

    Hey Guys,

I wanted to share a little more on our reasoning for removing late-swap for NBA

I think late-swap was initially viewed by many new and casual customers as a necessary safe guard against a last-minute “scratch,” which has made late-swap a very popular feature for DraftKings over the past few years. While late-swap can help prevent the poor experience of getting a zero in your lineup, there are other uses for the feature which ultimately require users to monitor news and scramble to make last-minute adjustments to their lineups up until tip-off of the last game of the night. For example, often times a late scratch will result in other players becoming valuable picks. So now you are not only monitoring your own players to make sure they are not scratched; you actually should be monitoring all NBA news to capitalize on any new value picks that might transpire while players are still eligible to be swapped.

Theres also a significant amount of people who will now move their action because of this terrible decision. It was meant for fairness and to be able to swap out players getting late scratched. This is fantasy basketball a game of skill and decisions. It makes 0 sense to not have late swap for nba but have it for other sports just silly. Also why is a DK rep now allowed to post on this topic but not other important topics regarding syndicate play and colluding?
