Just got an e-mail about this. Also giving players multiple position eligibility.

Bigger question is how many got a survey to answer in this group? It seems the majority does not agree so I guess they did not look at any RG members. What are the big dogs saying about this? I haven’t had a chance to check out Twitter.

Yeah, the $4 tourney with 1.5x min cash at $6? Hot garbage

I dont mind the spreading of wealth and moneyline being at 25%. I loke that as a casual player. I just dont get the tourney being bumped from 3$ to 4$ this year. It seems to be another scam like the poker sites of a decade ago. It really reminds me of it. Hopefully a third big site will come out and put fanduel and draftkings out of business.

Proves our point. The max entry guys are pissed and the 1-5 entries per night guys aren’t too happy about it either. So, who is DK trying to appease?

I left out another probably relevant question from the “how much do you agree with the following statements” part of the survey:

“I prefer playing in NBA contests when my favorite team is playing.”

Log in. Click on your favorite players. Win a million dollars.

Only Twitter posts I have seen, were just smart ass comments with no real opinion.

BTW, I didn’t even get a friggin email saying they were changing. I just started playing NBA DFS last season and was anxiously awaiting the return of the NBA season. Now I doubt I will play anything more than a few cash games instead of maxing out in multiple GPPs each day.

After reading this thread… I have realized that apparently only sharks play on DK, but FD is slot machine players? Actually feel the shark to noob ratios seems equal on both. But the sky is falling. My bad. Think Notorious had some good points about this topic on twitter. As well as Dan Back. And Adam Levitan. And just about all the other writers on DFS. Odd that they all don’t see the sky falling. FWIW, they do pose arguments on both sides.

Using the logic in this thread, Fanduel would have been out of business years ago because they didn’t have late swap and all customers, pros and casual players alike, will flock to late swap.

No money has ever been won without late swap. My dad late swapped, his dad late swapped, his dad’s dad late swapped before him. It’s the fabric upon which this nation is built, and without it society as we know it will cease to exist. Late swap is more important than life itself.

Lmao. The ppl who are complaining are the ones who know that the late swap creates an edge only over the casual players. That is the real reason. It makes sense if being more sociable is the reason. I read guys on here arguing with the wife for sitting at the computer all night for breaking news. Man dfs should be fun but please gentlemen don’t ruin your relationships over that nonsense. Spend some more time with the wife and be more sociable. I’m not lazy, I spend hours researching. I stop playing on DK because of this feature because it doesn’t allow time to socialize with family on friends. FD is doing quite well with no late swap and dudes here complaining ain’t going nowhere. There is only two sites with life changing money opportunities. So all complaining here gonna leave DK for Yahoo for late swaps? Lmao, not gonna happen.

It’s sad to me they have to make DFS more “fair” while crushing the people who actually put in the work. Sounds like our government don’t it.

Yep…it’s been the American way for some time now. Everyone thinks they are entitled to something for nothing.

Not sure if this has been brought up, but what about different contests with different rules? Similar to having max entry, 3-max and single entry contests. What about having contests which lock early and contests which lock late? Giving the player the option to choose the game they prefer to play without having to find another site.

Kinda eliminates the benefit of playing DK over FD.

This is such bad timing, with all of the late scratches that have been going on in the preseason…If they’d have announced this after preseason it may have gone over a bit better. I mean JUST LAST NIGHT, there were several late announcements right before tips.

Exactly. The only saving grace for me was scoring 197 points on one of those lineups anyway so at least I placed. Thing is it could have been better.

Do you realize how many less problems FD has on a daily basis during NBA season without late swap? This move is more beneficial for DK in terms of problems and efficacy. I am happy to try out DK again.

No. But I will leave dk for fanduel. I love their options but hated the lock. Whats the point now?

People who treat it like a slot pull.

The lesson they’ve probably learned from their trip through the judicial and legislative gauntlet is that no matter what anybody says, what they really want is for DFS to be more like gambling, not less. (Well, that and they want their cut from the gravy train.) Nobody should get an unfair advantage from putting more thought or research into the game.

Indeed. It kinda takes the ‘skill’ argument out of things and proves the point of many of these state legislatures.

  • Hogwired

The “millennial mindset” being applied to DFS. Nobody deserves an edge.

I don’t play for “life changing money opportunities.” I play for the competition. Maybe I’m the only one but I’ll happily move my business from DK to Y if it means playing the game I want to play. Doesn’t matter to me if the gpps are small and I won’t win my million.

I play defense in pick-up games, too. I’m weird, I know.

Completely agree. I play for fun.

The only way to make this work is for the NBA to require teams to submit starting lineups much earlier than they currently do (MLB seems to pull this off) and be more transparent regarding injuries and whether someone is hurt/sick of not. DK and FD seem to be have some partnership with the NBA, as I see advertisements on courts and such, they should be able to make it work. I understand there are sometimes players that are iffy and have to go warm up before tip off to get a feel if they can play or not, but at least let us know there is some chance of a DNP.

I got the survey. It’s the second time in a row DK’s sent me a survey and then immediately proceeded to implement everything I said I didn’t like. Last time it was cutting down the size of soccer rosters so people wouldn’t have to do so much research on ancillary players and could just focus on the stars.

Forget about the injury and zeros for a moment. On a short slate with say two or one 10:30 game. You see yourself sitting in a good spot and there is 1 or 2 guys ahead of you. You can’t even take a shot to swap to a lesser value guy in hopes you have a different player to outscore the ones ahead of you. This takes so much damn strategy out of it. Really thinking about not even starting NBA at all this year.

  • skankinmat

Dont mind them taking away late swap as I play basketball on FD 90% of the time…But having players with multi position eligibility is pretty lame.

  • SwollenBeast

Then offer both ways of playing! If you think you lost players because of having late swap just wait til you see how much you lose now. Very disappointed by this move, DK intentionally hurting their product, its mind boggling.

I played every single NBA slate last year as I already stated. The fact that you’re using a Spur to try to argue against what I said is laughable. They’re the exception, not the rule. Popovich has and will always do whatever he wants with injury and PT news

You obviously don’t understand NBA DFS enough to know that this takes away from the skill aspect of the game. To say that monitoring late-breaking news is not a skill is absolutely inaccurate. No disrespect, but based on your profile, it seems as if you’re part of the casual players group, the ones who complain that you can’t win because people better than you win all the time. It’s extremely important for you to be able to late swap in order to showcase the highest level of skill in DFS.

Sorry if I’m coming off as an asshole, I don’t mean too. It’s just the way I feel about the situation and your perspective.

As I’m typing this, Markieff Morris just got scratched… Let that have been 5 minutes later… rofl. We are going to have a lot of early season tilts.

That’s just a dumb way to look at it…..We already get zero’s the old way because people either don’t care, are lazy, or don’t research properly

I missed a few last season but I only had myself to blame which I can live with

Seeing a player I have in 10 lineups get scratched at 7:05 for no apparent reason will make me go crazy….how could it not?
