Just got an e-mail about this. Also giving players multiple position eligibility.

I don’t play for “life changing money opportunities.” I play for the competition. Maybe I’m the only one but I’ll happily move my business from DK to Y if it means playing the game I want to play. Doesn’t matter to me if the gpps are small and I won’t win my million.

I play defense in pick-up games, too. I’m weird, I know.

I will be there with you or DraftDay. I need to research lineup configuration and tournament structures.

  • mailnurs

If these panzies dont wanna look at news after 6 oclock they just dont want to win. Make a side contest (one) for these people. There are tons of real players who love to compete and win and they play DK because early lock is total bullshit in nba. Always late news late scratches and nothing makes me want to play less than getting screwed because someone on the westcoast didnt announce the news til 5 minutes after lineups lock. If you play daily you still get effed over with late swap, but early lock it sucks the fun out of it 3-5 times a week.

  • franciscolora

Does anyone with programming skills wanna team up to make a 5% rake for life DFS site with late swap, MME, multi-lineup edit tools, flatter payouts?

  • Jvanspro

I think the bigger question here is; Will Fanduel and Draftkings announce a merger mid season? It’s inevitable that they merge the only question is when.

Exactly…they should just have one big $3 tourney a night for no late swaps…..For all the people that enjoy the lottery

Like others have said, it’s not just about a late scratch being a player you rostered…..As team news comes out it creates new value plays and GPP strategy comes in to play depending on how your team is doing at the time

This is just a whole new game….and it sucks

You obviously don’t understand NBA DFS enough to know that this takes away from the skill aspect of the game. To say that monitoring late-breaking news is not a skill is absolutely inaccurate. No disrespect, but based on your profile, it seems as if you’re part of the casual players group, the ones who complain that you can’t win because people better than you win all the time. It’s extremely important for you to be able to late swap in order to showcase the highest level of skill in DFS.

Sorry if I’m coming off as an asshole, I don’t mean too. It’s just the way I feel about the situation and your perspective.

As I’m typing this, Markieff Morris just got scratched… Let that have been 5 minutes later… rofl. We are going to have a lot of early season tilts.

Based on my profile? So based on your profile I see that your only big NBA wins were at the end of the season when it started to be a crapshoot, yeah that’s a testament to skill. I don’t complain about not winning because I have no problem doing so lol.. I’m just getting really sick of people who seem to think they have some kind of entitlement because they play a decent volume. You don’t deserve any special treatment and guess what, the change is for everyone. There’s more skill involved now with multi position eligibility then there was with late swap in NBA. I will repeat, monitoring news is not a skill, a toddler could do it. There’s no skill in not having anything better to do than staring at a monitor or phone. I NEVER said there wasn’t skill in late swapping, I simply stated there’s no skill in monitoring late news which is a fact.

does anyone know of a dfs site where they will have late swap for nba? no late swap is the reason i closed my fan duel account and came to draft kings. i think its so unfair to be forced to take a zero. if their is no site for late swap i will just stop playing all together. thanks for any input.

  • kressmi

the problem is player scratches are random especially Spurs and Warriors. You would be out of the money by 4:05.

I’m hearing Yahoo and DraftDay have late swap.

I didn’t mean to offend you. I just think it’s people like you who complain about the DFS landscape because you don’t win. In other words, because you lose consistently to the better players, you complain to daily fantasy providers in order to make it more “beatable” for you. I never heard of a game where everyone is supposed to win. That’s essentially the argument the casual players are making.

The minority won out on this one, though I wouldn’t be shocked if this changes mid season because of lower revenues.

  • jofu77

I only started following the NBA closely because of DFS…Im’ more of a Baseball and Football guy…going to check out Hockey and very minimal NBA from now on…the late swap is a big deal and necessary.

  • Tamagoshi

DK playing advantage over FD is vanishing, never play FD Thurs-Mon contests due no late swap is available, now DK rake my coins, no FD, hopefully the other sports are off so far, from 10/18 and on, take care not throw your phone to the wall when we you realize our pick will be a ZEROOOOOOO.

  • jofu77

And it happened a lot! Late Swap is a big necessary for NBA

  • Petergunz82

This DeRozan news is exactly why you need to allow late swaps. Is it fun to sweat (or not) a lineup with a guaranteed 0. Answer me that Matt from DK

  • jamie2111

So instead of people checking their phones or computers to see which players they need to swap out of their lineups, now people will be checking to see if they guessed right and or if they will get a 0 in their line ups.

This rule change doesn’t have the effect they supposedly intend.

It makes the end of the season almost unplayable.

    It takes away skill.

It can’t be what the majority wanted.

What is the real reason for these changes?

  • mikedee90

So if you have inside information that a questionable player is gonna play and alot of people fade that player because they are questionable that’s gives you an edge over most competition. That’s one of my concerns

Your ability to beat back rational thinking is both impressive and terrifying.

You didn’t offend me at all, partly because I’m not among the group of people you seem to think I am and mostly because this is an internet forum.

The point I think that’s being missed is we (RG) are in the severe minority here in terms of overall player pool. As was stated earlier, DK isn’t concerned about catering to winning players or the likes of us because we’ve had no issues sticking around no matter what scandal or change pops up. They’re trying to cater to the people who are actually losing money consistently because they (and we by the way) need them to stick around if this industry is going to survive in the long run. It’s mostly the sites’ fault that those players are complaining about the landscape of the industry because they tailored their ads to lure those individuals claiming anyone could become rich instantly with a little bit of sports knowledge.

Again, this was always meant to be a form of entertainment, not a reliable source of income.

Please remember that this is the preseason. It’s not the regular NBA season where games actually count so of course there’s going to be random DNPs.. ESPECIALLY from a team whose coach flat out stated that he’s going to hold players out throughout the season randomly for rest.. you really think that doesn’t also mean the preseason?

  • cleanslate

This is purely speculation, but it seems like a merger is fairly imminent. If you look at how both sites are mirroring GPP buy in levels, player pricing, rule scoring changes (i.e., FD basically copied the DK scoring format for MLB and NHL this year), and now this….I just suspect that they are slowly preparing/transitioning towards a merger. Making these changes ahead of time will make the merger that much easier for both sites.

I sincerely hope it happens because without a merger there will not be nearly as viable of a market space for a new site with deep pockets behind it to come along and create a high level of competition. This is an industry that has gone stale and has many failures and shortcomings in its current stagnant state. New competition is much needed in my opinion, and on a grand scale, not with tiny sites that don’t have enough backing to make a dent in FD/DK profits.

  • dmoneybags1990

Welp no NBA DFS for me this year. I refuse to be in a position where I can finish high or even win a tourney and boom some gets scratched 10 min before tip off and im stuck with a 0 in my lineup.

  • Whacko

Not exactly thrilled about the news about late swap however I’ll just adapt and be more vigilante in the way I construct lineups…

Just curious how the MPE will affect ownership….

Exactly how we should all be looking at this. The edge isn’t diminished like everyone seems to think, it’s just morphed into a different and honestly probably better form.

I think the guys who are MPE will garner higher ownership simply due to the fact they’ll be able to fill more potential spots on rosters. I see it as a double edged sword.. there’s going to be a lot of merit to fading some of the Kevin Love and Demarcus Cousins plays when we’re probably going to see them at huge ownership %‘s even on large slates.
