I started playing NBA late in the season but was maxing out in the $3-5 GPPs. After whining in this thread since it’s inception, I will only be playing 100 lineups but that’s only because it pays 100 grand for 1st.

I fully expect a random Spur to be rested tonight in preparation for the playoffs.

On the note of s*&t happens…. remember 2 years ago when Bogut had to run off the court before tip-off?

LOL…. late scratch wouldn’t helped in that case.

stupid! nothing to defend this, don’t like late game swap?…don’t play on DK! wtf! is it that hard to figure out?…who is asking for this? Late swap is only reason I play nba on DK instead of FD. DK will change it back as soon as they see all the overflow in these contests, just lost me and I play a TON of NBA. Late game swap will be back by thanksgiving…book it!

This reminds me of the “s” on draftstreet. That was the first time that Dfs site let a player know if the person he selected was not in the starting lu. Checking your baseball lus was a bitch before that and just doing this simple thing was a huge competitive edge. There was a heated argument then if dfs sites should provide any info to players. Of course, now they provide almost every shred of info that you need. An argument that resonated with me then was “you aren’t a better dfs player just because you have more time.” I think that applies here as well. I am surprised that DK made the move bc they seem to cater to the more fervent players and FanDuel seems to want the more casual. Me personally I quit playing basketball for this very reason bc I work during this time and can’t sit on a twitter feed to change lus.

So the logic is that instead of having to monitor lineups it’s better to take a gamble and hope you don’t get a zero? I don’t see how that improves the playing experience for anyone. I never understood why Fanduel chose to do it and always thought it was what separated DK from the pack. To willingly remove that advantage in a competitive marketplace seems like a poor decision.

It’s still possible they change it mid season

With no late swap, why isn’t DK showing everyone’s entire lineup?

They do this for golf, mma, and other sports with no late swap.

From my understanding, it’s because they don’t want it to influence people’s decisions for late slates ownership%. Personally, I don’t care either way(because I’m not a conspiracy nut) but leaving it as is opens them up for the “certain people could change their lineups without anyone knowing,” crowd.

Is this the reason why this year there are no more Turbo, Late and Later tourneys? i liked those smaller slate tourneys in case you are not doing so well in the main slate, you had these tourneys to look forward to.

They had a 2 game late slate last night. There are now turbo and late slates posted for tonight.

So I guess there’s no reason to play DK instead of Fanduel now – I like the white backgrounds on the lineups in Fanduel better anyway, especially how you can look at your lineup and an opponents next to each other at the same time. Bye-bye DK!

Just seeing if am totally being an ass about this, but I was very disappointed in the no late swap. Kinda feels like you just close your eyes and hope that guy plays. feels wrong.

Are most people ill about this or you guys ok with it ?

    thoughts and opinions are welcome.

    thanks guys

I hate it, I feel like they changed the rules of the game out of the blue. Like was mentioned earlier, on a night like tonight, you could check out the 7:00 pm games and if you didn’t like any of the players or whatever, you could put in later starting players and tweak your lineup some more. I always tried to make my lineups with the later starting players in the last 3 positions G, F, UTIL … it just changed the whole lineup construction that I’d spent a lot of time figuring out and getting comfortable with, I just don’t like the way they did it out of the blue and with little warning.

DK is currently celebrating it’s first full night of NBA and calling it a success. Way to go Draftkings!! Woohoo!!

So in the late slate last night if you were part of the almost 40% that got burned by Dirk, did that increase your enjoyment of watching the NBA? How many DFSers picked Dirk and still watched the game just for the entertainment value?

He was technically questionable so still not a late scratch.

Technically questionable but most reports strongly indicated he’d be playing. Truly questionable players aren’t 40% owned. I’m only playing on FD now so no late swap doesn’t bother me.

You can’t be serious. There was no indication that he would sit which is why he was 10% owned in the full slate and 40% owned in the late slate.

There were multiple clues this could happen if you did your research. Starting around 1:30pm, right after shoot around, there were multiple reports on twitter that Drik would play, but was still suffering from stomach pain and a sore achilles.

If a report from a Dallas writer saying that a 38 year old suffering from stomach pain and a sore achilles while playing on the road doesnt make you move away from a guy, I dont know what will.

Late news definitely sucks, but always know what situation you are dealing with and research accordingly.

That means he was a sneaky play if there was a significant chance he would play. Obviously it was highly likely he would play since he was 40% owned.

Last year Steph Curry is questionable. If he plays at all, he will be on a minutes limit. Livingston gets ejected. Curry goes off in the last few minutes. Ties the game and destroys overtime. Saahil had 100% exposure to Curry and dominates the $4 DK tourney. So you’re saying he should have faded Curry?

I’m saying that you should know the risk with playing a 38 year old who already missed 1 game due to illness, then was reported to be playing even though he was still sick AND was suffering from a sore achillies. Add to the fact it was a road game and this was an easy fade for me. Sure, he could have played, and likely put up 30 FTPS, but for me, I can find 30-40 FTPS elsewhere. As far as Saahil goes, yea, if I was a MME player like him, I would have had Dirk exposure hoping for a lower percentage owned, but I would know the risk.

All I’m saying is people are so shocked he sat when really, there was a pretty good chance of him sucking even if he did play due to the reasons listed above.

Guess you’re missing the point. There was no perceived risk other than he was sick for 2 days prior. I didn’t play NBA last night because of the low GPPs and probably would have faded him myself. Just saying that with 40% of all late LU having him rostered, obviously a ton of people had no reason to believe he would be scratched.

    But he wasn’t probable.

The issue of late swap arises when a probable player in a late game gets ruled out because of a previously unknown injury before the game starts.

I think you are the one missing the point. He was labeled questionable the entire day, even with reports that he would play. When you dug deeper, you would have found reports from 1pm EST that he was still feeling the effects from his stomach virus and he was now suffering from pain in his achilles. So if you think there was no “perceived risk”, then you are mistaken.

The point is that if late swap was still available which most people here seemed to love, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation. Dk’s excuse was it somehow enhances the NBA product since you aren’t watching for late scratches. Instead, 40% of the NBA DFS community had zero interest last night because they took a zero that could have been turned into points during the last NBA season.
