Just got an e-mail about this. Also giving players multiple position eligibility.

    I can’t breathe. I’m so disappointed that I can’t even tilt properly.

    Lmao

I like it. If you are on the West Coast and leaving work after 4:00-5:00 and driving home in traffic, you have no way to make a change even if you hear about someone being out. No cell phones while driving in LA traffic. That is why I mainly played FD.

I don’t think having your entire night available to be on Twitter watching news can be called a skill.

Yes, there was strategy involved that could capitalize on the late swap feature. There is also strategy that can be used with the absence of late swap. Ownership % are going to be lower in late games. Coaching patterns on resting players will be watched more closely. Leverage plays become more important. Critical thinkers will adapt and capitalize one way or the another.

There is always an over reaction to change. A LU can be set for earlier games and another for later( later in the night before game time)
Critical thinkers and strategy still have their place. Problem for me has been a late swap that turns into a dud.jm

I kinda liked the grind of watching for late scratches etc.

What people aren’t understanding is that DFS can exist because it’s “a game of skill”….skill requires research and decisions based on certain factors, one of them being able to understand late breaking news and applying changes…..when you start taking the skill out of a “skill game”…and now just hoping that there is no late scratch on the west coast games, this goes more towards gambling…..I’m not sure if Curry will play so I’ll just gamble my money and hope he will, instead of just got a lineup alert, Curry is in….he’s a must in all formats….HUGE difference

DK doesn’t care about their being differing options if ‘their’ version of those options is costing them customers.

I don’t see how though…Last season they had huge tournies every night filling up with late swap

This is really annoying and I hope they reconsider

What a half assed response/action by Draftkings. Its 2016, they should monitor the situation not the casual fan, how many employees do they have? They could easily push the latest scratches to the phone app and have a robot voice broadcast it to the player throughout the night. There is nothing that makes a player feel worse than setting his money on fire with a zero in the line up. Now we all get more zeroes.

  • JustDFSin

IMO this is what I think the real thought process is. Draftkings think they have the better NBA product (which they do imo) Many people play on Fd because they don’t want to sit around and wait all night to make swaps and things which I totally understand. Those same people would play on DK if they got rid of late swap. I don’t see people jumping ship from DK to play on FD but now I can see the opposite happening. DK is going for all the marbles essentially. Everything is equal now. It boils down to whether you like FD NBA product or DK product

Some people are not on their phones all night especially if you have kids.

If you don’t have the ten minutes it takes to swap in late news, some would argue you shouldn’t be playing.
It’s not material, non-public info. Completely available to any and everybody

Now you can’t play any Spurs players at all if they play the late game lol

  • rome9bc

Why didn’t they do this for NFL too though that’s not fair lol

Personally am pretty disappointed in this change. Does reduce the incentive to play NBA at DK now and increases incentive to try NBA at other sites since they removed their main differentiator.

    You have a smartphone right?

I do. It takes three times as long when you go from dual 24” monitors and TweetDeck to 5.5” and the Twitter phone app… smh

  • dchapell

I tend to agree about the research – but most lineups or scratches in NBA don’t come too late…if someone stubs a toe it was nice to be able to change them out on DK.

  • Vanco

Here’s what to me seems like a simple solution…offer both! Offer both late swap and tip off lock contests, let us pick what we like.

They have been offering satellites to NBA contests for almost 2 weeks now with no mention of this eventually coming when they had to know it was happening. Now I have tickets to use for a site I have no interest playing on awesome…

Again, your opinion is extremely low information. DK’s opinion is extremely informed. They are telling you what is important with their actions.

They sent an email. The App just got an alert as well.

    I just received the email.

I don’t agree with the move. Late swap is precisely why I play DK and not FD.

  • L3gOnD

This is truly a remarkably horrid decision. DK tries to state that this is a game of skill instead of a game of luck and then alternatively implements rule changes that in fact make this closer to a coin flip and help out those that don’t put in the work and don’t know where to alternate when people are announced out. Truly an unbelievably terrible decision making it much more a game of luck than skill. There will now be so many people who complain when they roster GS player or any player at 50% and then they/he is announced out 30 minutes before the 10:30PM (Eastern) West Coast start. It is so sad to see this company make such a brutal decision all the while taking away their differentiation to that of their rival, FanDuel. If you didn’t like late swap, there was a place to play. If you had the skill and time to utilize late swap properly, it has now been taken. The game has become more luck in a time where they are trying to state it is all skill, ironic.

  • pburghpens22

I think this gives more experienced players the greater edge imo, especially if you are able to keep up with the news and hour before tipoff…one of the main reasons I loved FD for basketball

  • tommythebull123

an absolute awful desion by yall which is ment for more profit for yall. the late swap was meant for an edge for people who put the work in this is garbage taking it out stop trying to make things fair lifes not fair there should be an edge for people whos do this for a living this makes no since tryin to makee things fair yall sound like yall work for hilary clinton
