Just point this out in case no one else saw it yet but DK’s is doing MLS and it kicks off Saturday.

  • huitcinq

That’s awesome! DK really leading the charge and not ****ing around when it comes to embracing new sports.

  • gcowboy5886

Excellent! Was hoping they’d take the lead on this for sure. The nature of the league I think could make this really fun! I see how the casual player could enjoy it with the parity of the league, but some edges that can be pushed by those who follow the league closer.

Glad to have it. There’s some players who are listed in the wrong positions, but hopefully they’ll fix that sooner rather than later.

  • gcowboy5886

Castillo for Dallas listed as a forward, Shea as a mid for Orlando, Jordan Allen as a defender for RSL…didn’t notice this until now and I’m sure there’s more. But as you mentioned, it’ll get fixed and a few minor bugs will be worked out as it does.

    Yawn. Soccer.

  • RangerC

Sweet… definately gonna throw 5+ entries in the Kickoff Special. DK needs to advertise on the MLS website and BigSoccer – didn’t see anything at either spot yet. Hopefully they devote some overlay cash to this and promote it. MLS is another way to separate themselves from Fanduel and I hope it’s taken seriously.

With MLS on tap for this weekend. Will there be an EPL fantasy slate this weekend too? I don’t see anything in DK yet for EPL.

  • fcbjakub

MLS IS SO WACK!!! The worst league in the world. CANT SEE anyone playing it other than first couple of weeks. Why would dk waste their money on mls ????? Smh

I think they should I see a Saturday set when I looked up the schedule on google with Chelsea playing in the late game on Saturday. And yes way to go by DK’s again and be an innovator, ind of wish FD would pick a couple of these sports up. Heck who knows we may see WNBA by June the way this is going.

We’ll have EPL this weekend too

as for the MLS, give it a shot jakub… it’s not the same league it was in the 90s, it’s improved by leaps and bounds

with players like Shea and others out of position, this is what our stats provider sent us… should they not adjust, we’ll manually do it. It’s still early on in the season where players may not stick to their current position (I realize Shea is a full time left back these days)

Feel free to message me on twitter @mattbirnbach or just PM me with any other MLS concerns (like when is the first MLS millionaire maker!)

thought so.. i’ll be happy with a consistent $50K soccer tournament that doesn’t cost $1K to enter…

Just wanted to put this out there early on. Because the MLS uses secondary assists as an official stat, we will also be using secondary assists in our MLS game. (like NHL)

The rest of the scoring will be the same as EPL/UCL has been, but wanted to make sure you were aware ahead of time.

  • inwhiterooms

This is awesome. Thanks for doing this, DK!

Makes research much nicer, it was a pain trying to separate these last night. As the games progress, do you see the whole weekend being included, not just Saturday games?

  • Birnbach

I think for the most part, if there’s a big chunk of games on Saturday, that will be the main set. We may start to do entire weekend series in smaller contests, but the main will usually be the Saturday night set.

  • nblancers

Absolutely love it. For those of us not interested in MLB or PGA gives us something else to consider.

  • gcowboy5886

The only reason I like adding Friday and Sunday games is those are the 3 guaranteed nationally televised games. Easier access to follow players in a league not as established as the nba means more likely to attract the casual players.

It could give a reason for people to start watching the MLS.

MLS is a great add because it is the most obvious addition for the soccer leagues that go over the summer months as opposed to most European setups. With the EPL, UCL, NHL, NBA all coming to a close soon, we would otherwise be left with just MLB, PGA, and MMA for all of summer.. Now we have MLS every weekend.

As a soccer purist, I’ll be the first to admit it’s certainly not the best league in the world. But it is also growing rapidly, and with the hype the USWNT gets at the World Cup this summer, there will certainly be a boost there. The games are getting better television attention with the Sunday night doubleheaders and it’s a great way for Draftkings to not only help promote the sport but add a whole new player base here in the States – the soccer fans.

Hell, I played almost every day of NBA DFS this season and I didn’t know 1 player on the Hawks before the season started. Now I can name practically the entire roster of every team in the league. Why? Because I got into DFS during the World Cup when Draftstreet got Twellman to tweet about it.

I also don’t think Castillo/Shea are really that out of position. Shea plays so advanced that he’s just a LB on the team sheet. Castillo is up front a lot too, certainly more than say Mauro Diaz, who is a more standard midfielder for DK purposes. It’s kind of like Walcott being listed as a forward, don’t really find much wrong with it.

I wish this was the norm for soccer, the secondary assist lots of times is a key pass that opens things up………and I’d have way more assists in my soccer career!
