Just curious if anyone even refer friends anymore to DFS. A couple years ago it was worth it to spread the word. Now not so much.
Take the big three I guess and what they offer.

    1. Draft Kings Refer someone who deposits and you each get $10 in DK dollars. Not really that enticing. It changes every few weeks but
probably not worth the time to tell someone about it. Never understood why the person you refer gets just as much as the person who did the work referring.
At least you get it right away and know when someone signed up.

    2. Fan Duel. Basically same as DK. Refer someone who deposits and plays $10 and you both get $10. You only get to do 5 a month (how stupid is that). And you don’t even know if someone signed up as they have no back office. You don’t know when you will actually get the credits either. Sometimes takes weeks. Major waste of time.

    3. Yahoo. Same as the other two where you both get 2,000 ysrp points which is worth $10 when someone new you refer deposits and plays in a contest.
Problem is with yahoo is that person MUST sign up and deposit the first time they use your link otherwise you don’t get credit for it. Have heard a few people
on social media complain about it. People can’t use a credit card and some have issues linking the paypal account. Again seems too much of a hassle for such little
    reward.

    4. Fantasy Draft. Getting 10% of rake means getting roughly a quarter every time a friend might join the big $25 contest. I’ll pass.

Gone are the days when you used to get good incentive to spread the word. I can’t figure out why these companies have drastically cut these offers down.
99% of people who play fantasy sports or gamble already know about these companies. The people who don’t know about these companies are like your
Uncle Bill and Aunt Betty. I think these companies should WANT these people to come in as that is the only way to grow the game. PLUS with these sites
now offering sportsbooks and casinos it would behoove them to get these people in as even if Aunt Betty won’t hang on long in DFS you will be able to entice her
down the road with an offer for say $500 credit to play in the sports book or in the online casino. These companies should want as many people as possible
to be paying customers. Helps possible sale of company down the road as well. There is no cost to these companies to put out a decent offer to entice more referrals.
THERE IS NO OUTLAY. Sure you lose some rake giving out free tickets but again there is no up front cost and the cost comes out of profits. Blanketing New Jersey and every train station or bus surely is not cheap and the ROI on that advertising must suck. Or how about on WFAN in NY you sometimes hear a Fanduel ad on top of a William Hill ad on top
of a Sugar House ad. Must be bleeding advertising money that way.

Shame we will never see the good old days of a few years ago when it was worthwhile to tell your poker friends or fantasy friends about it even though 95% of them
won’t play long. Just don’t get why these companies totally destroyed this way of getting new people. So again just curious does anyone still refer people??

the irony of you posting this here is rich :)

No I haven’t referred anyone in years. I think those referrals though were part of the reason they lost millions. That being said what they are offering now gives me zero incentive to even mention it to someone.

The bigger issue to me is that out of the big group of friends of mine that used to play I am the only one left playing and I play nowhere near what I used too.

Not really sure what they can do about it. The good players have gotten a lot smarter and its hard for them to even win with any consistency. I have heard of people trying it for a week or two during NFL season and then quitting and never playing again.

Unless there is some sort of new revolution in DFS that I can’t foresee I think that growth will be pretty minimal outside of opening it up to states that are banned.

The DFS growth year over year has been significant for some companies (mainly us), don’t believe the hype :-)

DraftKings worked very hard to bring new players into the DFS ecosystem in 2018, without the requirement to spend a fortune in TV advertising like we did in the early years. We also invested heavily in player retention, for example just this week we rolled out Crowns to Contests which keeps players active and engaged by allowing them to spend their earned Crowns to enter into contests.

We are not resting. You have our commitment to continue to use data gathered in the past to make decisions for the future. Learning from the past is how DraftKings came from behind to become the #1 Daily Fantasy operator in the world.
