I was surprised to see that there was not a best ball thread for discussion. Assuming the mods have no issue with one being created, I may as well kick things off.

The biggest takeaway I have from my earliest DK BB drafts is that Jameis Winston is wildly under valued this year. In BB in particular I don’t see any legit argument for going QB early. There are a lot of reasonably safe bets for 4000 yards going at QB3 prices between Winston, Goff, and Roethlisberger. There are also plenty of guys with high week to week upside like Daniel Jones and Fitzmagic available late.

Are you guys really leaning into QB late as a strategy this year too?

Yeah there’s no way really for DK to prove definitely if a league is colluding or not. It’s probably worth a shot to get 11 other friends and try to keep getting in the same drafts and let one team build a super team.

Everyone at DraftKings takes allegations of unfair play very seriously, and our Game Integrity & Ethics Team is committed to proactively monitoring every aspect of DK games, player accounts, and more for suspicious behavior.

You can rest assured that our Game Integrity experts investigate any indication of activity that violates current regulations governing Daily Fantasy Sports operators, the DraftKings Terms of Use, or the Community Guidelines.

We can’t comment on any public assumptions or disclose any corrective or enforcement actions taken against a player. Please know this is necessary to protect the process we use to conduct our body of work. As a result, it also means that customers aren’t aware of the comprehensive game integrity protection operations in place behind the scenes, unless their own account is flagged.

Our goal is to ensure a fair yet competitive environment where skill excels.

We use the entirety of the transaction data available to us as the contest operator to assure this goal is met.

From the Best Ball contest rules:

DraftKings has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to collusion. If DraftKings suspects there was collusion in a contest, the contest may be cancelled. The users suspected of collusion will not be refunded and may be permanently banned from DraftKings.

Collusion is any action or decision that is made between two or more users in a draft with the intention of gaining an unfair advantage over other users, or otherwise, in DraftKings sole discretion, may compromise the integrity of the contest.

Cliffs: We CAN detect it. We CAN prove it.

Only takes one bad or colluding league to have someone end up with multiple early first-round players

Players have the right to draft any way they choose. We have come across rosters that are stacked with early favorites, rosters who pick nothing but QBs, you name it – we have come across it. What you may consider to be an oddly constructed roster may be considered a brilliant contrarian play by someone else. What you would consider to be a “bad” roster is a natural and expected part of the tournament.

To be clear, a “bad” roster has little to do with attempted collusive play. It may be a flag for us to review, but it is in no way definitive. As noted above, we use the entirety of our data to review for unpermitted behaviors such as collusion attempts.

That seems to disregard how obviously dubious it’d be for a team to end up with several first-round ADP players in a 12-man league. I’m no statistician, but it feels like there’d be statistical significance in getting a team of something like CMC/Cook/Barkley/Adams/Hill/Kelce/etc. Whether that’s enough of an advantage to be hawkish about enforcing anti-cheating rules is another story, but it feels like the DK team would have enough data on hand to make an evaluation on how unlikely it’d be to get x number of 1st/2nd round ADP players in a single lineup

So what your saying is I need to find 11 guys who thinks its brilliant to complete fade the top 10 WR and RB’s for the fear they may get injured lol.

  • coachspitz

maybe a bad strategy but find myself stacking 3-4 upside qbs early of i get an end of round pick. mahomes, lamar, rodgers, allen etc. Then try and take like fields or lance later. It greatly hamstrings the rest of the league into having some bad qb options imo, and (in theory) a bunch will be taking 0s at qb as the season progresses.

obviously depends on hitting the mid round skill guys, but if you do could be a winner.

Sorry if this has been asked, but why can’t we draft bestball on our cell phones?

What site doesn’t allow to draft on your cell phones? Both Underdog and DK the app on my cell phone is the only way I have ever done a best ball draft.

8 rbs is probably too many and lacking in wr and te, but I do love Najee Harris a lot.

I’ve done 120 drafts and the only one I have Najee Harris in is the one where I forgot I was drafting and my first two picks were done automatically.

Gotta take a stand somewhere! I’m way overweight on Gibson and Mixon so just not taking Harris.

This was draft 10 for me and the first one I got Najee. I wasn’t targeting him at all but he looked very good on his drive against the Eagles first team defense last night. At pick 22 it seemed like the right way to go.

Honestly I like Montgomery more but I was pretty sure he would survive until round 3 so I just inverted who I was gonna pick.

In easily 50% of my drafts I start with 3 RBs and I don’t think I have less than 7 on any team. I just don’t see the need for any more than 6 WRs so I basically spam as many fantasy number 2 WRs as I can find in the mid rounds. Figured Watson makes for a good late round dart after the long TD last night on a play that was designed simply to get him and no one else the ball. Teams don’t do things like that for players they don’t expect to make a contribution.

  • thedkexperience

I simply don’t see the need for any more than 3 TEs so I just take 3 different guys who can score 9 or 10 points with 15 point upside and take it from there. I have one team with Kittle and aside from that I don’t think I have anyone ranked higher than Gesicki.

As for WR even with 3 WR slots what’s the point of more than 6 WRs? They get hurt at a way lower rate than RBs, the flex doesn’t have to be a WR (I’d prefer it to be a RB personally), and once you get past that huge platter of pretty good mid round WRs it falls off like a rock.

As someone who took Steph Diggs in a lot of places this year I don’t see him being all that much better than any of my first 5 WRs, and I don’t think that throwing a dart on a Jalen Raegor type has more upside than what Hines can get in his 2 or 4 random big games.

I noticed that part too as one of those guys really had to fall to get them in the second. Most drafts I did last year had those two going in the mid to late first round. I was big on Adams last year so I guess maybe that is why I never saw him drop as I didn’t let him get out of the first round if I had a pick from 6-12. I wasn’t high on Kamara but I also never saw him escape the 1st round and he was commonly gone in the 4-6 overall range.

Really? I saw Adams go in the first maybe once last year… I think his adp was late teens

Incorrect- Mike Thomas and Adams were the 2 WR’s going in the 1st round last year and HARDLY, if EVER made it until the 2nd round.

Adams consensus ADP was 11.3 last year

Cell phone? My DK account won’t let me enter a best ball on my cell or my tablet. Had to log in on my friends laptop just so I could do a draft tonight

Wow…that roster leaves a little to be desired.

Dunno how you got Golladay that late though. He should be going in the 5th or 6th round. I have noticed that Q tag is really scaring people off, which is odd because his injury is minor.

  • marker0357

noob question: If you sign up for a BB Draft, do they assign you a random 12 person draft (based upon your selection of fast or slow) as soon as they have 12 players? So, in other words, I assume they are not waiting until all seats are filled until they assign the 12 person snake drafts.

  • Straightfire118

I probably just drafted a league winner.

    QB’s
    Herbert

  • marker0357

Thoughts on David Montgomery? I’ve seen a pretty wide margin in selection for him during BB drafts. Is it because of his slow start in camp or are people thinking Cohen returning from injury and picking up D. Williams will eat into his share?
