So, I’ve been a DK player for a couple of years. Never had an issue with regards to payment, withdrawals, entering contests…

Then, today. Im in my car with my wife on the way to Madison to watch the Badgers play Rutgers…setting my lineups for the day. I hear the various injury updates this morning and log in to amend and switch a lineup. And I get a “account restriction” message saying that “DraftKings has detected I live in a state that doesnt accept players”.

I live in Wisconsin. Have my whole life. I’ve never had this even come up before today.

    WTF is going on?

DraftKings, if this isnt taken care of shortly so I’m actually able to access the contests I’ve already paid for today, you’re losing a customer. This is a f’in joke. Less on the damn commericials and more for infrastructure and a customer service staff that actually knows what the hell is going on.

    Thanks. Rant over.

This happened to me a couple weeks ago. I also live in a state without restrictions (SC). I ended up just closing out the app, and I was able to access games normally.

  • SouthernShield

Any chance you were hitting a cell tower in Iowa?

  • JaNelson38

Not using the app, just using Mobile internet. It’s raining here today in Madison, so there could be signal jumping. Still pisses me off royally, because I’ve been an established DK player for a long time. I literally set my lineup about 830 this AM and was locked out about an hour later.

    Sigh.

    DK KoTH winner

Did you send an email to support@draftkings.com?

They should be able to see where it thought you were and help you out.

  • JaNelson38

    Yes. No response.

  • DailyLoser

    Restart your phone

  • JaNelson38

    Did already. No help.

    I’m beyond pissed right now.

  • JaNelson38

Well, I think DraftKings has lost me as a customer.

    What a joke.

Wow this is outrageous. I mean, here you are in the western world, a PAYING customer, on your way to enjoy a Saturday of football, beer, and fried food, and this has to happen. I’m sick just thinking about it. Sometimes when I watch the Walking Dead, I wonder how I would handle a world without smart phones and a variety of entertainment options at my disposal (not to mention the constant mortal danger), but you, my friend, are living it. I feel for you. It’s a sad day, and your indignation is in no way out of proportion to the situation or knee jerk reactionary AT ALL.

And I’m sure you’ll really never play on DK again. Those idiots didn’t know who they were mildly inconveniencing.

  • squidkill

Wow- Settle down buddy.. Sh*t happens. Relax- pretty sure they will refund your games for the day. Life’s too short to get your panties in a bunch over a computer error.

  • pinballmick

call a friend back home have them log into your account and make the changes or maybe a relative
there has got to be a way to get your changes in

Thanks. I’m sure if something completely out of the blue happened like this to your account, you’d be just as cavalier and non-chalant about it…especially in the era of things like fraud, identity theft and the like. But I appreciate the condescention, thank you.

DFS sites don’t give a flying fudge about the customer. Squid, why are you commenting if “life is too short to get your panties in a bunch” over something that doesn’t involve you?

I am guessing you don’t have much else going on……Yes, the hackers they are trying to get all your DK points in order to purchase all the SWAG…in the DK VIP store…. There is a computer error related to your account…Calm down. Better yet, go walk through the Pediatric Unit at any hospital. Might ground you for a minute.

  • deactivated70850

Squid, you need to take your own advice and calm down. IT’S A MESSAGE BOARD. See, I sound angry, right? You sound overly angry over something that doesn’t involve you.

  • slashtc

It’s amazing how many pretentious douchebags there are here. It’s awfully easy to look the other way when it doesn’t matter to you.

Just got a restricted access about 15 minutes ago. Live in Portland, which is literally miles away from Washington state and I was using my cell for WiFi to check on the status of a game while I was out and bam…restricted.

I put something into support, but come on, that’s ridiculous, especially with Sunday’s slate coming up.

  • jeffgo33

I just got hit with this, about five minutes ago, when I went to access my contests.

“Your IP is making too many requests. Access has been temporarily suspended.”

I did a quick refresh and it came back. Anyone ever have that happen?

Exactly. If DK is going to start blocking/restricting people based on what cell tower is transmitting mobile wi-fi info, that could be a big issue for folks like us who live on the border of a state where DFS is not played.

My issue looks to be resolved because I’m back home using my home internet, but I was over a hundred miles from the Iowa border and was still affected today. If you claim you live in a jurisdiction that allows DFS, you should be able to access your account regardless of where you may be traveling.

It is widely known that DK has inferior GIS/GPS technology at hand. This was shown true when after they were restricted from Nevada, players visiting the state were still able to play. They were utilizing the old fashion, “what is your resident status” rule. They have chosen to spend their money on blitzkrieg advertisement instead of cutting edge technology, good lawyers, a REAL CEO, and political clout. The sheep that turn a blind eye to this, just love the game, but keep in mind, all they are after is your wool. When your state gets banned, like mine, because of their reckless abandon of a business model, your eyes will open.

  • DRTII

All is good on my end as far as I can see. I got back home and logged in and the restriction was lifted. Also, got this canned FAQ email in response to my support ticket

“Q. I am in a permitted jurisdiction, however, my account is showing as restricted?

    A. You are receiving this message due to your current geographic location. Our systems have determined that you are in a prohibited jurisdiction and once you have returned to a permitted jurisdiction of play, you will regain full site access.”

    That is an infuriating response.

The answer to your question amounts to, “You’re either stupid or lying because you’re wrong about where you are.”

  • madmanjayWV

I’ve not had any issues like that, but here recently in the past couple of weeks I’ve been getting this crap from DK asking for me to CONFIRM that I AM NOT A ROBOT????????????

I have to check some stupid box and then some other crap POPS up and asks me to like pick all the pictures that are of FOOD and crap..no clue

  • BigDukey

    That happens to me I think it’s because I set 300 lineups a week…
