    DraftKings and DraftStreet Join Forces

Today, we are excited to announce that DraftKings has acquired DraftStreet, bringing together the two best products in daily fantasy. For the past several days, we have watched as many speculated, not just about whether the rumors were true but also about the reasons why. Let me be clear on one point – the one and only reason why DraftKings and DraftStreet are teaming up is that we believe we are a better company combined than separate. Yes, userbase and liquidity will grow, but more importantly we are bringing together two great teams that will work hard to infuse everything you love about DraftStreet and DraftKings into one incredible experience. Please remember, of course, that this cannot happen overnight. Things like snake drafts, pick’ems, and an improved loyalty program as well as new sports like soccer are in the future plans, but these take time to create and will need to be prioritized along with the rest of the features we are working on. But rest assured that the plan is to bring all the great elements of DraftStreet over to DraftKings so we can deliver to you the most amazing experience in daily fantasy sports.

Later tonight, we will be launching a process on DraftStreet.com by which you can migrate your account over to DraftKings. Once that is live, you will be able to access all of your funds immediately using this process, including withdrawals. Between now and then, please be patient with us while we get this up and running. As part of this launch, we will be offering any new DK players a 100% deposit bonus on transferred funds, and we will also be offering that bonus again when you make your first deposit on DK. For players who are already on DK, we will be offering you a 25% bonus on transferred funds if you have a DraftStreet account. If you don’t have a DraftStreet account, we will still make the 25% bonus available to you whenever you make your next deposit. Be on the lookout for an email with instructions on how to redeem it. If for some reason you don’t receive that email, just send a note to support@draftkings.com and we will send you a link to redeem the bonus.

As always, if you have questions about your account, please contact support@draftkings.com. If questions are posted here, we will do our best to answer them, but please use the standard support channel for fastest response. The customer experience team will be working overtime all week in order to help respond as immediately as possible to any inquiries.

In closing, I want to thank all of our loyal DK players and also welcome all the new DraftStreet players to DraftKings. Our work is never done when it comes to bringing you the best possible experience in daily fantasy sports, and joining forces with DraftStreet today is another huge step in that direction.

I asked DK about this, they said no bonus on the $27K. At a minimum finishing last in the dsbc would be worth $5K to my ds account so I asked for the 25% bonus on $5K. Waiting to hear back from dk.

Has anybody actually clarified what is happening with the DSBC yet???

In terms of nfl, FF has the exact same roster and scoring as DS. While I complained about their nba salaries being soft(some may like that), their NFL salaries were second to none last year.

Amen Nro. The NFL roster/pricing format on FF is excellent. And their customer service is outstanding.

Who’s got a few Mil lying around to kick that site in the ass??

They e-mailed each individual that had earned a seat in the contest and gave them options for a solution.

Well, before I start my rant I guess that I should congratulate the DS team. You’ve all been awesome at building a business through the best product in the industry and awesome service. Nice that you get your payday.

That being said, this is awful on so many levels. If you played exclusively on DS (like me) you are forced with some pretty lame options. Either quit DFS (like I have) or deal with a second rate option like DK. Immediately shutting down DS seems like a really terrible decision. I hope that the valuation model presumed a huge amount of customer loss, because that is the reality. Not just because a ton of my volume was snakes either – I can’t fathom having to deal with the DK salary structure. It is like going from Starbucks to Maxwell House.

I’d love to believe the thought that DK will some day be the next DS, but I am super skeptical. Typically as soon as the acquired company gets their earn outs the management team are gone. And reverse mergers tend not to work culturally. So unfortunately I guess that the best that we can hope for is some VC to see the obvious whitespace and fund a DS clone.

So it has been a pretty fun run at DFS over the past few years. My favorite memories:

    - Doing 100 snakes for week one NFL, then topping it the following year by doing 200 – Being there for the Spriz Philip Rivers debacle – Losing several thousand to Max on two garbage goals by the Blues, then winning it back and more the next night – Winning all of the GPPs second to last week of hockey this year

So it has been a blast and more than anything sad to see DS go.

Mark – feel free to give my street creds to someone who will use them and good luck!

I second that emotion, particularly on snake drafts. If they get Snake drafts up and running I will deposit, if not I’ll just have to float around until someone does

    “DraftKings and DraftStreet Join Forces

So basically this is just , DK aquired DS customers nothing else, nothing from the DS product is available on DK.

OK DK, I have already known about your product for over a year and still I chose to play on DS, what has changed for me to start playing on your site ?

Just because you acquired DS, doesnt make your games any better. you better start thinking about incorporating some of the ds format or guys are just going to start looking for other sites that offer similar products to DS.

Good Luck with your acquisition, but i cant be bought. Lets see what you do for us DS players to earn our business ??

  • monitortan

I guess since everyone’s ranting and giving their 2 cents I guess I should as well.. I’m not a heavy volume or big time GPP player. I play 50/50 and very small amount of GPP here and there. I’ve started out at DS. Played a little bit at DK and FD.

I liked DS because of the roster structure.. I think DK should add another slot like a DH hitter or like a utility spot on their baseball format.

As for football, I’ve been lucky here and there with the kicker spot but, I really think they should get rid of the kicker spot and just add another flex spot.

I’ve done well on DS considering how small I play every night but I’ve had a winning year, every year, so it’s going to take some adjustment to DK, but I’ll give them a shot for a bit but it’s not to my liking I suppose I will have to look for another site.

    Best of luck to all.

Yeah, if DS pricing and big bankroll players headed to Feud it would be a major sucess

Yes, I think I will be taking my action to StarStreet for football if DK doesn’t make some changes to their NFL rosters and pricing. I’d encourage others to join.

I have an account at StarStreet and if I remember correctly their pricing is at least better than FanDuel’s and DK’s.

This is my biggest problem..I don’t really play enough action in any sport except NFL. There’s no way I’ll be playing volume on DK where they have a kicker and along with the soft salaries and short rosters it’s going to be tough finding a new NFL home unless they get the DS boys to help incorporate some changes.

  • The1WhoKnocks

I won’t be playing any MLB volume until DK gets rid of stacking.

I also loved draftstreet for the snakes and pick em contest as well as the roster set up and tough salaries. Draftkings seems a lot like a fanduel clone to me. Heres hoping they get the elements of draftstreet that differentiated itself from the others up and running……..

For those still upset about the acquisition, it’s time to move on. DK/FD will remain the go to sites for large, guaranteed action. For other features, look here:

    1) Snakes/Pick’ems. DraftDay offers both formats in a very friendly format.

    2) Sharp salaries. StarStreet now has the sharpest salaries and the toughest salary cap in the industry (their cap was always tougher than DraftStreet’s IMO).

    3) Expanded rosters. FantasyFeud has the largest MLB roster format in the industry with 3 SPs and 2 Util spots. This is even one more than DraftStreet offered.

    4) Reduced rake and Rewards. StarStreet, DraftDay, FantasyFeud all have excellent reward systems. So pretty much every site other than FD/DK.

If you want high stakes, big action, or large prize pools you’ll have to play at FD/DK. For everything else, you can find better elsewhere.

Just wanna mention my thoughts on DK MLB formatting quickly(NFL/EPL/PGA/NHL formatting is a whole different story for a different time so I won’t really want to go into that). Roster Expansion/Pricing toughness aside, if Draftkings could just put the same limitation on stacking (or even close to it) that sites like FD/DS have and marginally improve their sharpness of pricing (shouldn’t be hard with the resources they just acquired) their product would be significantly more attractive to DS players (hell the whole industry) without really compromising the “winning product” they have today. Yes us DS regulars will miss 10 batters, 3 P format with incredibly sharp prices thanks to Markness. With that said none of us actually expected DK to copy and paste DS format onto the site when we complained about losing our favorite product in the industry. If DK wanted DS players MLB volume for the 2nd half of the season I think those two improvements alone would make a huge difference and should be addressed / prioritized before things like snakes and pick’ems even.

I highly doubt DK will change their roster limitations, etc this year for MLB My guess is that they gather all the info they need and implement any changes for MLB in 2015. Now the NFL? Who knows but changing everything in a roster/scoring structure mid season just seems like a very bad idea.

DK eliminating stacking will never happen. They’ve made their name through big prizepool gpps. These prizepools only exist because players are mass entering dozens of entries.

It’s a lot easier to build a dozen different lineups via stacking in a shortperiod of time (applicable particularly for baseball because of lineups); find a pitcher you don’t like, draft the 1-6 hitters facing said pitcher, surround them with a couple pitchers and minimum guys and voila, you have a decently competitive team.

Removal of stacking will shrink the number of entries the mass regs pile in on a nightly basis, so it won’t happen.

    ——-

As far as salaries, any person who has monitored the salaries will see that they are watered down for big events. The strategy is the same. The tougher you make the salaries, the less people are inclined to put in a ton of entries.

Conversely, if you price Matt Forte, LeSean McCoy, and Jamaal Charles all at a discount, people start thinking they can build some super strong lineups and want to start adding in a few extra entries here and there. Softening the salaries is the easiest way to encourage extra entries and diminish the skill edge; a real win-win scenario if you are a DFS site.

  • thinair

The street cred conversion to FPP credit’s is simply NOT fair to Draftstreet user’s. The FPP store is vastly inferior to the DS street cred store. You cannot buy voucher’s into any league. I’m a cash game player primarily, what am I supposed to spend my street credits on? So I just lost out on nearly $200 worth of street cred’s that I had been saving up on that I’m now forced to use for GPP’s or wait however many years it takes them to offer better options on.

This is why the DS loyalty program was so far superior to the DK loyalty program. You could use your street cred’s for whatever you wanted and you got a discount if you bought higher level entries.

I’ll say it again. I really hope DK learns a thing or two from the superior management team at Draftstreet that understands how loyalty program’s work and about customer service.

We like being rewarded for playing higher volume and we like to actually be able to recoup those rewards into something tangible, which for me equals vouchers to 50/50 contests that I know I have a good chance of cashing in. Or merchandise is good for some(I think you can buy a t-shirt in the FPP store, but that’s about it)
