DraftKings informed us yesterday that they are disabling the opt-in RotoGrinders rankings feed while they thoroughly examine all of their policies and protocols.

While this is an unfortunate blow, it’s completely justified and even expected.

We’re entering a new age of DFS. We need to treat these things like they would be treated in a regulated industry. Everything needs to be more transparent.

Short term we’ll be exploring alternative systems and discussing this with our other feed providers. Long term we’re confident we’ll find a solution that will allow us to maintain some type of rankings system, but it could change drastically from what we have now. It could be based completely off of GPPs displayed publicly in the lobbies, for example. For our current system we’re importing top 20% finishing winning results in heads up, 50/50, or tournaments.

While rankings aren’t for everyone, we think they serve a vital role in an industry like DFS. They help put faces to screen names, create celebrity players and community, and give goal-oriented players extra motivation. DraftKings, Fanduel, and other partners see the value in rankings and have supported us for years. We really appreciate that support and we’ll be working with them to figure out a system that works going forward.

UPDATE 10/9 – FanDuel recently has made the same decision to disable our results feed from them. Again, this is both justified and expected. Our plan is the same as it was yesterday—to explore alternative systems of recording results in the short term and re-evaluate long term solutions once we have more clarity on their decisions.

Sooooo does disabling the rankings tracker…isn’t that just covering up just how much employees were winning on other sites? Just asking…I am a losing DFS player and I should build better lineups and not worry about anyone else but making better lineups and just win money.

I figured I throw that in so to save the greatest DFS player of our generation Ryazan time in typing that.

So Roto is now a good time to make a screen name change? Given the temporary stoppage on rankings? If I can my name and the rankings come back how will I be impacted?

No because those results are still there for all to see. It’s only preventing rankings now and in the future from being tracked.

right when i shoot up the NFL leader board….. :(

Damn, this is disappointing to me

What a stupid decision. These rankings may just seem like fun and games, but they can be pointed to as some of the most clear, transparent, and easy to access proof that DFS is a game of skill. Something that will be crucial to proving down the road to help maintain legality in the future with overzealous politicians likely trying to score points by targeting an industry thats extremely unpopular to public (from annoying ads alone).

Bad decision. Someone ate the most pizza. Quick, hide the boxes.

I don’t understand the point of this.

I see some people saying they understand, but, I don’t can someone explain why “RG Rankings” are bad for Draftkings and Fanduel???

  • madmanjayWV

I’ve been asking the same thing for days^^^^

I mean, one would think FD and DK believe they own the RESULTS of the games or something, IMO.

Yeah, and it doesn’t even post EVERY SINGLE result from us. Only our Top 20% scores.

Not sure why this is a bad thing

I think FD and DK need to worry more about people building scripts that Auto-Scoop H2H games vs players with less than “X” number of wins / games before worrying about something like RG Rankings

Agreed. I was a little mad at first but I’m actually becoming very angry over this issue. I mean pretty much most of us on here are hardcore grinders and DK and FD seem to not care much about us. The more this crap goes on the more I find myself wondering if I should look for a new site to take my business to. It’s not just this one thing that’s got me mad but a bunch of things that have added up over the last few months and this issue is the cherry on top. They really need to do something about this sooner rather then later.

  • ActionJunkie

I’m surprised RotoGrinders feels so laissez-faire about this? Do you guys have inside info that this is just temporary because of “spot audits” or the like? Because a HUGE part of this site is built on rankings both for function and to attract DFS players to come here instead of elsewhere.

  • chronoxiong

I like to see my ranking and I hope they come back soon. They only post our top 20% games anyways. It doesn’t hurt to know how much you stack up with the rest of the players. I’m trying to get my ranking up.

  • MikeSos760

We need to start a petition hehe. I do miss rankings. I hope they come back, and if they do, that they backlog are recent wins.

Let’s create a rotogrinders league. Maybe have forum badges for tourny champs!

    :) Love it.

Are the rankings down for all sites? I play on several, all linked, had some lineups top 20% cash over the weekend but nothing showing. Seems like only FD, DK and Stars are the only ones that have ever shown in my profile..On to important stuff.

Rotogrinders league is a great idea, single entry, low buy, each sport, GPP player of the year decided that way? Maybe a running 50/50 (do they still make those) to determine the grinder of the year?

  • MikeSos760

This question is for Cal or Riley, but I think a lot of people would be interested in the response.

I’m curious if there is any word about what is going on with the RG Rankings? How have talks been going with the two major sites? Does it look like they will be back soon or are they gone for quite a while?

True or not, real or just perceived, DK & FD doing this smacks of LESS transparency, not more.

    Why were they pulled?

Someone made the laughable claim above that it was to PROMOTE transparency, which seems counterintuitive.
