Pardon me if this has already been discussed, I am working on minimal sleep and a Top 4 hangover, but I just noticed a “badge” or avatar thing next to my DK username. Anyone know what it is or any deets?

I don’t think its the same badges. Mine has a number in it.

That number shows how much XP you have earned and what level you are in which only you and your friends can see. So it gives you an opportunity to brag to your friends how much you play.

Draftkings brought this out thinking that people actually care about bragging rights and compared it to what the video game industry does. So the hope is this new system will make you play more to increase your level and be able to brag more to your friends about how much money you have lost playing high volume.

i actually don’t disagree with conceit, but I’m not sure about the execution.
As far as i can tell the xp simply comes from entering a game and where you finish has no barring on anything, so it really just is “how much money you spent” which makes it pretty worthless. If the points awarded represented both entry and finish, so it was more reflective of skill or achievement, I could see where people may care about it.

That is the whole point DK was going for. They don’t want XP to be based on skill but they want it purely based on volume. So if your the 1 in a million person out there who actually cares about “leveling up” the only way to do so is to spend more money by entering more contest. In theory this is a very smart program if people like this actually exist in the world and play DFS.

I think that’s what number you have in the waiting room to see Dr. Aftkings.

XP does account for finishing position, to what degree I am not sure. I finished 83rd in the milly this past week and that team was rewarded 40xp. All my other milly teams received 10xp. I had a team finish 107th in the $4 out of 170k+ entries but it also received 10xp. So perhaps you have to finish T100? Not sure, just passing on what I have derived from my results.

It factors in positioning position a little
. But the problem is that even if you don’t enter a lineup and take a dead last 0 point score you get 10 XP. So just like the RG rankings you are going to be ranked way higher through mass volume then actually doing well with only a handful of lineups a week. Unless you lose points for bad finishes these systems are always going to artificially prop up the volume guys which doesn’t necessarily mean they are the best.
